Thank you for the review, but I think you have to do a better job reading your own forum. There was a separate thread last year on the g3 dull game mode when compared to fmm. And here i go watching your review and you have 000000 zero mention of whether this has been fixed in g4. I understand you do not game, but many readers of your forum do, so please do not shit on them

The price you're paying for these TVs they should really come with both wall mount & stand and a proper classy remote all in the box.

While I probably won't use it as I don't really see the judder with the near-instant OLED response time and I notice interpolation as soon as it is applied, this feature will be useful for those who have real issues with seeing the judder. We all see motion differently, so anything that can help without adding any Soap Opera Effect is a good thing in my opinion.

Three nitpicks: Power cord is still fixed, still a cheap remote, no "stand-up straight" stand for the 77". Most people fit the sturdy Sanus VSTV2 instead but the base is very large and does not even fit properly on typical Ikea 40cm deep furniture. LG also have an official duck feet style VESA stand that is used on their M3 series. I will likely buy the 55" or 65" instead.

AVforums mainly about Film maker mode . I think from elsewhere and from here about AI Director the G4 will make it seem more colourful . Also must be improvements in BT2020 mapping every year by better processing . I mean if you can map 4000Nits better should be able to map colour better . I'm really interested in how 3D it looks , apparently G4 is a nice improvement , that is processing as Phil mentioned . He's a purist but even he seemed impressed to mention it

I am in a small dark room, it would be a whim I admit but being a big consumer of 4K/HDR-DV content, it tempts me to have an OLED MLA screen of such a size. The cinema effect must be spectacular.

Considering this G4 or the new Samsung S95D in 77". A big consideration though is the sound and I would like the new Q990D Samsung atmos soundbar after being very satisfied with the Q90R that I got 4 years ago. I've read this latest soundbar is now far superior to my old Q90R and I've also viewed some poor reviews of the LG flagship soundbar system. The Q symphony on the Samsung TV that can be used with the soundbar for extra immersion and the object tracking feature is swaying me towards the Samsung TV. For myself the sound is as much a key factor as the picture quality although I don't want to go the AVR and seperate wired speaker route for aesthetic reason's. This LG could be a stellar TV and debatably a little better than the S95D but will the TV and Soundbar integration on the all Samsung setup outweigh the possible minor advantages of this LG screen? Looking to make my purchase around September time and I'm still open minded and looking forward to viewing plenty of side by side comparison reviews before I make my decision. I must say I've been very happy with my 5 year old LG OLED but I've read they have improved considerably since my last purchase.

Q-symphony may have made dialogue slightly more audible but the difference was so small, I couldn’t even tell a difference when doing a blind AB test. I now use my Q990C with my LG CX and am very happy with the sound that this system produces on its own.

Dimming is normal when viewing a static picture like when you pause a video game or pause a movie, it will dim down to protect itself from burn in, simply touching the remote or a game controller or a keyboard depending on what you are doing will bring back the brightness. All OLED TVs has aggressive ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter) which can occasionally dim the picture, but having a EVO Panel or this new MLA panel, the issue is far far less. It is possible to enable some secret menu to disable static picture dimming, but completely turning off ABL is not possible.

The picture may be great but the G4 has its issues. My one commonly crashes when using the default web browser, and sometimes when in the settings menus response will slow down then freeze. I then have to turn the TV off unplug it, then plug it in again. Then it loses the sound output that was last selected. It has LG soundbar connected by hdmi earc, the tv is set to use the soundbar and the tv speakers for sound output. On powerup the output to the tv speakers is lost, and if I do not interven quickly enough the sound output is change to a bluetooth sound system that I listen to music on. This is not acceptable on a TV of this price, or any TV for that matter.

I think the testing of windows only show the general brightness increase. But it doesn't show the "booster" tech that increases the specular highlights at 3% and less happening in actual content.
So I bet those times it is "boosting" these HDR small highlights the nits can be higher than 1500 nits. I don't think it's something that can be tested as easily.
Also if someone wants to use vivid, yeah I know. Then the brightness is likely higher from the start as well. Wouldn't surprise me if you just tested vivid the window brightness at 10% would be far higher than 1448 nits. Not accurate FMM to be sure. But just saying it's there.
