      Ian - I suggest you check the diff oil level again now - with Betty on level ground - now that a correct level has been allowed to 'circulate' as it might have filled other depleted areas.

    Also note if the fill plug is to tight you can fit a 16 mil hex but not a 12 point (as it’s easier to round off!) And get a breaker bar it will give you better leverage and fits this ensures you that you will not strip the bolt, it can be over tightend don’t over tighten them just snug and little bit torque is good enough. Good vid👍

  • @dazaspc
    @dazaspc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bit of a surprise I must have been lucky, my Au series 1 had a drain plug.
    Looking at that trans fluid it hasn't had any love for a while. Going by the metallic fallout been low for a while. If it was going to be a long term keeper it would probably be worth doing the fuel filter and slipping out an injector to check their filters. Dead easy job if not a bit fiddly and if they are dirty it really livens them up. Also the fuel rail pressure regulators suffer from blockages in these as well another cheap fix and when you replace the standard unit you can fit an Tickford VCT/xr6 unit that gives a bit more injector pressure that adds a little more power.
    Great Video.

    A bit bizarre referring to a manual for torque tightening sequence. Odd thinking 4·5Nm is a bit low and then you go and say you've got the right oil for the car. How can it be when it's got Castrol written on the container ?

      @@Badgertronix The problem with dropping the pan is often access, with undertrays in the way, with dozens of either seized or easily broken fasteners. This can often turn a relatively straightforward job into a nightmare. It's why I bought hand operated suction pump to do friends and family's oil changes. I'd rather undo a sump plug but have had bad experiences with said undertrays. Luckily Ian's car didn't seem to have one?

    I think Scotty Kilmer warns against the commercial pressure flushing machines offered in the USA more than the type of fluid change featured in this video. The pressure flushers will disturb and reditribute any crud hiding harmlessly in "backwaters" of the system. He does seem to be a doom and gloom merchant at times with such advice as "don't look at your car this way or it'll destroy itself in five minutes"! But his advice is basically sound.
    My car (Honda Accord) has a combined dipstick/filler tube so I can use a hand operated suction pump to drain it and refill from above.

    This is not the way , you want to do a proper full transmission flush by removing transmission line and pumping fluid through car until fluid goes clear while engines running ! All you are doing here is leaving old trans fluid in torque convertor which contaminates any new fluid , now there are people who claim dont do trans flushes however they are wrong

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say that you're wrong. For this car I'd just change the fluid again next time it was serviced then most of the old fluid will have been replaced without the risks of flushing
