    Another great little video Bill, thanks as always.

      As always Bruce, my pleasure! It's not looking good for the WatchTime Show this year. Even if they have it in October, it wouldn't be much fun with masks and 6ft conversations ... the buffet style would be out too. I'm thinking they'll cancel. Have you heard anything? Stay safe and take care, Bill 😷

      No I haven’t heard anything yet Bill. It will be a shame if it’s canceled but as you said, with all the restrictions it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun as in past years.

    Thank you, for another nice video. This video made me watch, one more time, one of my favorite documentaries, "The Single Men _ Master of the Incredible and the Beautiful" by Philip Selkirk. Very humbling and touching as it tells the stories of some of the men behind the AHCI.

      Thanks for that documentary, Fadi! I will watch it. The really great watchmakers do not seem to be afflicted by arrogance ... like in all endeavors. Take care and stay safe, Bill😷

    Andersen spent 10 years at Patek Phillipe in their Atelier des grande complications where he specialized in world time complications. The Christopher Columbus watches were a 500 piece 35mm automatic limited edition issued in 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s voyage. The cases were in precious metal (gold or platinum). I don’t recall the movement but it was not a manufactured movement.

      Howard, I wonder what movement is used in the CC world timer? Take care and be safe, Bill😷

      Now Marc, wouldn't that be a fun one to own?! The CC or the other one? Take care and be safe, Bill😷

      WatchArtSci, you are right, that’ll be fun to own. I like both but the other one more ☺️, can’t wait to see what you have for us next, you take care and stay safe too, ☕️

      Junior! ..."...will do research..." music to my ears! Researching Svend may be a little more "interesting" than you bargained for. You'll see why. Take care and be safe, Bill😷

      Dieter and Junior ... I mentioned Svend's 'erotic watches' and then I found out some of the top watchmakers had done the same! Take care and be safe, Bill😷

    Well done Bill! I’m a Patek, AR, VC, F P Journe and Rolex guy. I buy and hold my watches. I’m branching out to try to get a Hermès Slim GMT. I just afraid regarding service down the road (my AR goes in it seems ever two years for something)......So afraid of boutique independent watch brands.
    Nice video mate.

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Tim, thanks man! Don't worry about service costs. Most top tier watches are going to cost a lot to have serviced. I'm having my Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa Grande overhauled ... expensive? Yes. Worth it to me? Yes! Had both of the FPJs serviced at around the same time ... had to survive on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for 3 months to pay for it! Take care and be safe, Bill😷

    Another great Video Bill! I'm really enjoying learning so much during this time, Dufour once said the best watches for him are Nomos and Rolex, i am a fan of Dufour watches but I'm not a fan of Rolex a bit ironic.

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Roberto, I didn't realize he mentioned Rolex but he did mention Nomos. He has been a bit miffed at Swiss watches (including Rolex) for resting on their laurels while the Japanese and German watchmakers are doing all sorts of interesting things. He mentioned the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph as the "best serial produced watch" on the market. Take care and be safe, Bill😷

    Dufour's finishing standards are also something he is well known for. Thanks for another great video. Don't forget to do a wrist watch check next time. ;)

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Southnc, a ww check? For a sophisticated viewer like yourself, I would not want to insult anyone's horological intelligence. I keep forgetting! Dufour has the beautiful rounded anglage that's come to define fine finishing! Take care and be safe, Bill😷

  • @JogieGlenMait

    Dufour I guess helped make Credor watches for Seiko. One of the best watchmakers I know.

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jogie, I don't know if Dufour was responsible for the Credor specifically (though he may have had an influence), but he shared the traditional mores of Swiss watchmaking and techniques of design and finishing. Stay safe and take care, Bill 😷

    • @leyay7540
      @leyay7540 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say he has shared the experience of finishing the components of movements. But as I know nothing more he has influenced about the Credor watches.

    Erotic watches??

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of watchmakers have erotic automata on their watches ... here's one by Sven: www.revolution.watch/ready-warning-highly-erotic-images-from-svend-andersens-eros-collection/?archive Whatever you do, Luke, do not play the video! Take care and be safe, Bill

      @@watchartsci OMG. That's amazing

    • @watchartsci
      @watchartsci  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I told you not to play the video ... here's something from Ulysse Nardin that was released last year ... artist Milo Manara ... www2.ulysse-nardin.com/collection/classic In this series, there's no automata, but a lot of erotica by Manara who's a graphic novel comic book artist. I figured the horny watchmakers got it out of their system with the advent of the Internet ... but it doesn't look like it... Take care, and be safe.Bill 😉
