That special season of the year is creeping ever closer and you might be starting to think about gift wrapping. One important aspect of which is the decorative ribbon that goes around it. Not that we're particularly talented at arts and crafts, but we were intrigued to see how and if a (somewhat) decorative knot was possible in Houdini using Vellum.

Fantastic! Only a few days ago I started experimenting with knots in Houdini and now you guys show up with a solution. Cheers!

Could you do a tutorial for a medal falling with a ribbon? LOVE your vids!
Huh, I heard tying a bow in 3d is a test assignment for a job opening in one of the Moscow's motion graphic agencies
Where should we apply? :D

Tendril probably 😄
How do we set an initial state for the ribbon so that the simulation starts with just the untieing of the ribbon. Great tutorial.
Timeshift would be the brute force method, for something more subtle watch out for an upcoming premium tutorial :) Cheers, Mo
Is this setup compatible with 18.5?
Nice! I ever wonder to know what shortcut do you use to quickly change values in channels?
by middle clicking on a channel you get a pop up with numbers vertically aligned, ranging from 100 to 0.0001 and by slightly sliding left or right (while pressing the middle mouse button), you can change the numbers quite quickly. moving the mouse up or down changes the amount of increments during each "step" left or right. did you mean that?
@@MsRaumal yes, but there's no pop up on the video when he's incrementing the value.
what is the difference between point wrangle and primitive wrangle
cool! hope you could teach how to create this with blender :B
Whaaaat the fck
