I bought the new 2024 revision of this monitor called "MSI PRO MP161 E2". (E2 Added to model).
E2 version have Tripod connector and comes with 2 cables where both have 90 degree angled connectors.
Good to know that they have taken on some feedback from the community
I got it for my SFF pc build. Now I can get my desktop everywhere. 14 L case volume + the monitor and it all fits in a bag.

@@recyclebinladen5903 I was surprised to see that in the system it's actually a 8-bit screen, instead of 6-bit. This means it has 24 bit color depth and 16 million colors just like most of the monitors. Overall quality is good. A lot of options in the menu, responsive screen with good brightness and DPI.
@@DazePhase thanks for the response. Yeah the E2 is 8 Bit compared to the first version which was 6bit. But it's still the same 53% sRGB, so I don't know how much of a difference it makes.
Do you think it's decent for watching movies? Or do the pale blacks show up too bothersome, and you'd rather watch on a better monitor?
@@recyclebinladen5903 You are welcome. Yesterday watched movie on 4K and it looks good. Of course there are better monitors for that. It depends of what you are used to I guess.
Edit: If you need it for picture or video editing, definitely not recommended. As you said it's only 53% sRGB.
Do you think this would be ok with the Nintendo switch, did you notice any motion issues when playing Witcher in you video, many thanks
Should do the job I reckon if it was ok with the steam deck on the Witcher it’s obviously not a gaming monitor but for 1080p at 60fps you would be fine

Nice video , but i need your help, i ordered this portable device , i tried to connect many smartphone with USB-C , like you did, but nothing happened ,USB-C to USB-C , with mi 10 t pro, mi 12t , mi 13t pro and LG velvet. Do i need a special App ? Always error message Type-C 2 no signal.
No special app no, I’ve not played with any of those find but they need to support display alt mode.
How are the colours on it? Are the colours washed out, compared to normal desktop IPS monitor ?
They weren’t too bad from the steam deck or iPad when I connected it. From certain angles there was some washed out look to it. But nothing really not inline with IPS panels

The low price could be for the 2023 model to clear stock. 2024 version of same monitor comes with Tripod support and have two 90 degree angled connectors on the cables. The 2024 model is called "MSI PRO MP161 E2". E2 is the one with Tripod connector and angled cables.

You could use the mini hdmi to hdmi cable and then just power it by usb c with a plug

Does it use Second Screem Only when connected to the phone ?
That would depend on your phone mainly and what output settings it had from the port interface it has. The screen would work like any normal screen you’re connecting. Via usb c for example. When I had a Samsung and used dex it would display on both
@@ExpressITTechTips I use a samsung phone, connect using a C to C wire. When using it, can I turn off the phone screen and only use that of MSI 161 ??
Under phone settings. On the phone Samsung dex settings it’s something to do with the keyboard settings I believe you set that to monitor. I don’t have a Samsung anymore to try it I’m afraid

@@masonmalott9788 yes will do. There’s a few good lists about with display alt mode via usb c. The tab s8 is supported

On that yes you use the mini hdmi to hdmi cable you will need to power it off a usb as well mind

@@kepuheverything380 hdmi cable to the ps4 then you would want either a usb psu. To go from the wall to the monitor or maybe a usb cable from the ps4 to the monitor. Not tested that I’m not sure it would supply enough voltage but worth a go. Worst case you will just need a cheap usb plug

Trying it with the steam deck there was a little lag but not anything to get concerned over @@SweetSourPickle
This product comes with lots of packaging and having bought one I know why. It's not durable. It's portable but if you put in your back pack for meetings on a daily basis it lasts 6 weeks, with absolutely no scratches. I have since bought the Viewsonic VG1655 and it's bullet proof.
Really I’ve taken mine out on a few roadtrips now in just a ruck sack against my laptop in the bag and had no problems did it completely fail then or bend ?
@@ExpressITTechTips one day I took it out and I noticed a dot at the top, next day the dot became a triangle, within one week half the display didn't show. The service centre said the display was leaking. But they don't repair those anyway, they're throw away. I bought because their website shows being loaded into a back pack. I have Tumi backpack and only use taxi for meetings. So it was travelling in luxury.
That’s a real shame good to know mines been about a bit with no issues thus far but I’ll keep an eye out on it
