I'm looking forward to getting the box, though I don't have much interest in the Guard models. I'm hyped to play Vespids, though, so I'll probably sell off the paratroopers. It'll be my first proper foray into KillTeam, and that's exciting.
The "seasons" concept would be fine if they actually followed through on it consistently. What season of 40K are we on now? How many seasons of 40K were there in 9th edition? Was Pariah Nexus a season? Was that the only one? Was 'Bheta Decima' a season? Why was it shorter than then the others?
Exactly that it gets messy, hard to follow and tends to just fizzle out of rather a pre determined road map including campaigns, Kill teams and kill zones and it being stuck too. At least you know where you are and what you’re getting.
You’re right,a missed opportunity. Clue should have been in the name of “Hivestorm” scenery could have been based around the hexagon shapes in a bee hive! As you said would have been an ideal way to upgrade the now aging Catachans!
@@cat_or_rabbit Thematically it would have fit perfectly with the Tyranid War of the 10th edition. and I think that a lot of players are waiting for a real Tyranid kill team
i agree with the complaints on the terrain, However as a primarily 40k player it's part of what sold me on it. I already have some terrain and this will give me enough for my 40k board. So from GW's perspective then got me a 40k player to get the starter box for a game that i will now play because it was generic enough for me to slot into my already existing terrain. I do play guard so the scions helped too but i could have waited for them like i did the Kasrkin
Over on the KT Facebook group someone made a very good point in that (as you just said) it will appeal to 40k players aswell and be a safe bet for newer players, having said that some of this scenery was already previously used as the pariah nexus scenery for 40k so it’s. A bit of shame it’s not all new and more interesting like the stronghold pieces, you’ll cover a lot of 40k battlefield with what’s in this box alone
I think as a newbie it’ll be a good box for me, I’m not overly enthralled by the guard guys but I’ve an idea for a paint job I want to try. Are the separate data cards the things that should have come with the box? Like fighter cards in warcry? As for the terrain, it does look quite generic but I’m quite excited about starting to build some custom future terrain. I think like others have said fighting inside a big old bees nest would have been great
For new to kill team players it’s great but newer or younger hobbyists may struggle with assembly of the teams, the data cards would be exactly like the fighter cards are for warcry so it’s a shame they didn’t add those in, as for the terrain it’s cool! Specially (again) if you need some scenery - you get a good amount and it’s pretty varied
I love boarding action stuff, so maybe some Chaos Cultists and Navy Breachers or some sort of boarding action where you would be boarding a Chaos overrun ship with warped and corrupted walls and bulkheads. Great video btw!
Yessss! Tentacles and claws growing out of the scenery, or the chaos factions themselves all fighting for dominance. Could even be a 4 way fight of 4 teams of 5, amazing
As someone who is looking to return to tabletop wargaming, I thought kill team looked fun to start with. Would you still not recommend this box for a new player, and if not, what would you recommend? Hold out for a new starter set?
If you are brand new to kill team but have a bit of modelling experience behind you, this is a good place to start (especially if you don’t have any scenery etc) if not the core rules are going to be a free download and I’d probably just pick a team I liked and go with that.

I think the box is a good box, but concur that there is a missed opportunity. It seems all the terrain in the boxes are imperial when there are so many xenos opportunities with the terrain. Gallow Dark and the previous main starter set were cool because they had terrain that had not been seen before (ork and the ship walls). Imagine Tau, ork, or Necron styled terrain. Even the jungle terrain you had mentioned would be cool. I'm rather full on ruined buildings and would like other options for my collection.
My thoughts exactly, a universe of stories and opportunity’s and we can only fight on ‘generic imperial scenery’ also it’s a shame seeing scenery that was already used a battlefield (I think it was pariah nexus stuff but can’t remember the planet or name they had for it) recycled and used as something else. Again a good box but very safe.
I‘m interested in how you turned the terrain of the 9th ed starter box into a building, do you have a video for that? Couldn’t find it by skimming through the feed
I don't have a problem with any of this terrain. but then I dont have boxes and boxes full of other types of terrain/ruins. too much free stuff I guess...
I felt this very early on with just a few years under my belt and I'm surprised GW hasn't looked into a way of easing this for new and experienced players - it seems to be going the other way with more complicated rules writing to mitigate any tomfoolery - having said that there isn't much of a massive change here to core player involvement rather game mechanics being expanded upon etc.
I'm very new to 40k. My background is the age of sigmar and warcry. I've recently joined 40k , my army is T'au and Kroot, and I've got one kill team box, which was the kroot firestalker one. My friend loves the army within this box. I think that they have a good range of things within this , but I'm still very fresh to 40k
if you're new this is a great box to get, kill team is (with Warcry) my 2 favourite games GW makes and this box is packed with literally everything you'll need. enjoy it!
I hate this terrain so much because it's just Ls and ruins, which any moron can make from foamcore. It's going to make your table look as unimaginative and boring as every ITC 40k table ever. ... and now I hate it even more... I very much appreciate you bringing up that this terrain has been released before. I'm feeling silly that I didn't notice that. It makes me hate the terrain even more because it was clearly trash that didn't sell and now GW is dumping it on us. Wish they'd done something like Moroch because ruins are so boring and easy to make on your own. Hoping you have a video where you made this terrain into buildings. Will be searching your channel for it. Thanks for a great preview video.
aye, its just a shame the killzone wasn't a bit more exciting, re-used terrain pieces like this always feel a little bit like short change - especially when if you can look past it, the whole box is presented very well and there's a lot of stuff there. I'm not sure when ill get round to it - but stay tuned!
The aquilons are great and are a solid looking team, again as I stated it was subjective I just felt the box plays it a bit too safe, as for clueless - less of that

I've already pre-ordered my copy and I'm eagerly waiting for it to be delivered. Personally, I like both teams and the new Kill Zone.

The vestida are very cool looking, loads you can do with them colour scheme wise, you’ll have a lot of fun with them!
No transfer sheets this time round it seems. The Krieg transfer sheet was really great for vehicles and will be missed
Nope, with octarius you got the ork and the krieg ones, not even a generic one for tau is present

Would be nice to have some sort of over the top alien landscape. This would have been a good opportunity to do some sort of Vespid hive terrain.

Then that’s fine, as I stated in the video it’s ‘subjective’ and just offered some food for thought on something different.
As a 30+ year GW veteran I’m done with the constant rule changes.
