Laine is a difference maker... we saw that in Winnipeg every night when he was on the ice... still broken hearted that we lost him and all the skill he possessed. There was politics in action at the time (older players vs younger, with the elders having the voices and the youngsters did not). Laine spoke up and was ushered out the door. But things have changed in Winnipeg. We have a new captain who says that every player has a voice in their locker room and you can tell that it's true. But I digress... Laine is a generational player and I'm glad folks in Montreal are taking note of the special talent he is. Enjoy him and I'll keep rooting for him to shine!
He's gonna be unstoppable when he has fully recovered (Laine hasn't recovered his speed yet because the leg injury - very long time without even chance to train cardio). He's clearly loving Montréal if he already plays this good even though he's currently in very bad shape and still getting know his new team mates. It seems like Laine would like to play his career in Montréal, he has even started to learn French
Yeah it's very promising so far. Laine might be entering his prime at Montreal. His minutes per point was always very impressive. For example Laine had 56 points in 1054 minutes during his first season at Columbus. That's a point every 18,8 minutes. Ovecking had a point every 17.6 with his 90 point-season so not too far off. And had he played same amount of minutes as someone like Kyle Connor (1720 minutes), mathematically he would have had 42 goals and 91 points that season. So all he needs is solid play time to reach his true potential.
Laine rounding into form would make any team better. He’s a weapon and other teams have to game plan for him. Which frees up Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf. There’s also the Hutson factor. He can get the puck into dangerous areas. And there’s enough options in house when the team needs a piece (Struble, Roy). Maybe Dach will get going?
The stabilizing of Arber Xhekaj and Struble has been another key to Habs looking more like a cohesive defensive team. They were a weak link earlier in the season. No doubt, offense and the finishing touch is still lacking but huge improvement lately.
Laine has got such a potential. He needs to keep growing self-confidence. The whole team and the fans are all excited and they do back Laine as much as possible.
We really need a 2 nd center for Slaf and Laine to bust out. I would overpay salary wise on an ending contract till the end of this year or next. I don’t want to overheat a drum but Ryan Oreilly would look good with habs😊
As long as Slavkosky is top 6 the Habs are bottom feeders. He's a turnover machine and in fact he almost never wins any battles... Constantly shifting to defending when he's out there. 150 games in the NHL with a minus 39!. How many games with it takes him to reach minus 200?

Rounding into form was the issue and perhaps this is the right room for him now?

No lies detected other than they’re like 30-31st in hockey. So they were kind of losing to everyone over the first half of their season👊🏻
