    Long time Samsung user. Excellent phones. I did just pick up a 6a for a dedicated work line. There are some very cool Pixel features I like. The thing I think many are missing here is pricing. The Pixel 7 series and 6a are exceptional values. And carriers are really starting to ramp up deals for Pixels. The 6a was free with my new line. And I just received a promotion from T-Mobile for a free upgrade to the Pixel 7 on trade in (less sales tax). I am likely going to do this for my personal line.

      I got the Pixel 7 Pro on Verizon and they gave me a $700 trade-in credit for my Pixel 4XL. I got the 256GB version and I'm only paying $8 a month. Then the day after I activated the Pixel 7 Pro I received a customer loyalty credit of $25 a month on my line, so after everything, I ended up saving $16 a month on my bill compared to what it was before I got the Pixel 7 Pro!

    I am always amazed that every review of phones I see never talks about what it is like to use each phone as a phone. In other words, to use the phone to talk to people on the phone. The Pixel's main advantage for people who still use their phones as phones is that it has native call screening built in to the software. If you are tired of scam calls, get the Pixel. Another nice software feature on the Pixel is that it will hold the call for you if you get put on hold and then alert you when a live human is back on the phone with you. It will even transcribe the menu options so you don't have to listen and pay attention to what the automated system is telling you while you are on hold.

My question is, can I use a virtual Sim card to a different carrier? Ideally I would like say a 10gig virtual card from carrier B that will automatically connect when the physical sim of the main carrier drops. Is this possible? If so please.... show and tell.

    Not sure what to do for the best! Got a Pixel 4A just now and WAS prepared to go for the Pixel 7 Pro next upgrade (April 2023) but a colleague at work swears by their S22 Ultra. The photos are amazing! I love taking photos on holiday and zoom in loads when attending rugby and ice hockey! I LOVE the pixel experience and didn't like the Samsung bloatware back when I had the Note in 2013 but I think the S22 cameras edge it for me? My wife recently upgraded from Pixel 4A to the flip 4 and loves it.

    • @OGMDr
      @OGMDr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll preface this by saying, "I have been a primarily Samsung phone user."
      The bloatware that plagued the devices are still here (solitaire, Snapchat, etc). Everything is removable though. The bigger issue back then was the Samsung skin "TouchWiz". That is thankfully gone, and has been replaced by the incredible and ever-evolving, One UI.
      So if you're biggest gripe with Samsung, are those two things, you'll be pretty safe with their current offerings. That being said, if you're not too far into the Samsung ecosystem, the Pixel is just as good as offering too.

      @@OGMDr Many thanks for the info! I think I've been unfairly afraid of Samsung due to previous TouchWiz negatives and bloatware from the Note.
      My wife's Flip 4 is amazing and changed my mind on them as a company tbh.
      While I'd love to have the Pixel Pro7 with Samsung's camera hardware, I think the camera specs matter more to me, especially with my 1st born due summer 2023! Want to best photos possible!

      @@gordonlynch771 Congratulations! That is exciting news!
      I wish they would do Google play editions of Samsung phones again. An S22 or 23 ultra, running Pixel software, is my dream phone. Caveat that with, Samsung's software has been improved so much! There are certain baked-in software and firmware features (the SSC codec, certain button toggles) that make it hard for me to commit to an ecosystem swap.
      The hardware does matter of course! There are also a lot of the editing features from the Pixel, they come with a Google One subscription. Even the object removing feature was added to the flagship lineup with the One UI 4.5 update (my fold 3 received 5.0 and android 13 yesterday).
      So again, not trying to muddy the waters, but you have options and they are both great at this time. Best advice I can give you, is that if you do go Samsung, do not dive too deep into their ecosystem. Trying to make the change after that is akin to trying to switch from iOS to Android. It's possible, but it's painful.

    • @gordonlynch771
      @gordonlynch771 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OGMDr thanks again Chris! In all honesty, I'm the kind of Android user who wants to stick to/with as much Google only stuff/apps as possible! If I get the Samsung S22 Ultra, I'll only be using their apps where absolutely necessary/unavoidable (like Photos) I appreciate how far Google's software has come and how much they can achieve in post photo software but hardware is king for me if available. Also, Samsung have reportedly been ahead of Google in terms of innovating with the Software One Ui and Google catches up!

    • @OGMDr
      @OGMDr ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gordonlynch771 no problem Gordon. From my experience, Samsung has had features for generations of phones, that are now becoming mainstream (by Google and Apple). The last section is a rant you can feel free to skip.
      I'm with you about the hardware aspect of my tech. That will always outlast software.
      To combat your photos issue. I have my Google One (Google photos, backups, etc.) backup all of my photos and then delete the copies on my device so I get that storage back. The downside to this, is that unlike with Pixel devices, other Android phones have to pay for storage tiers. Which Apple does too, if you cared to know how others are doing it.
      The only other thing I can mention is that recently Google has started offering VPN services through Google One exclusively for their devices. Again not sure if that matters to you, but it's information. Lol.
      It's the small things like that, or the insane transcription capabilities, and a lot of these AI features I wish Samsung would adopt. They already provide the raw chip for the Pixels (tensor is a modified exynos). Qualcomm has powerful AI capabilities baked into their chips that no one seems to want to take advantage of outside of the headphones market.

    As a Pixel 3a owner, I'm extremely hesitant to go with the new google phones this year. One of the biggest reasons I am planning on getting a Samsung, maybe an s23 series, is because I have noticed a lot of reviewers off-handledly mention how they have already scratched their google devices, or cracked the screens, within the first month of ownership. I don't recall the Samsung's ever being mentioned as quite that fragile, and while I do take great care in being gentle with my device... I just do not want to risk buying a phone that people seem to break so quickly. The phones only been out for under a month, and reviewers are already damaging them? No thank you. No matter how gentle you are, you will always inevitably drop your phone.
    Also apparently Pixel 7s/7 pros flex poorly at the camera bump? aka if you flex them slightly they flex and crack at the metal housing there and that's pretty concerning for me considering, well pockets do flex....
    It's a real shame because I love my Google pixel 3a. It's literally my first smartphone. I'm sad to abandon google, but I just don't think I want to stay with them if their phones are stupid easy to crack this year :(

      The new Google phones are fine in durability, the reviewers must be taking poor care of their device/have refused to use a case and screen protector, and honestly that's completely on them.

      @just-jessiejames8241 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@minemagicplayz Admittedly I have not seen recent mentions of Pixels being damaged, so you could very well be correct. Maybe reviewers do just take rather poor care of the devices. You make a good point about the cases/protectors too. I know a very large portion of them do not case their phones, which is frankly something I don't get as an everyday user but that's me. I always use the in tandem, it's the easier way to ensure longevity imho.
      Either way I'm keeping my ear to the ground. Who knows, maybe I will get a pixel 7 after all, if the phones aren't as fragile as I feared!

To say iphone is a useless phone it's all based on your preference it doesn't say much about billions of people buying iphones to start their social media business, photography and media.

I've always had a hard time when it came to trying to keep tempered glass on a curved screen - it just doesn't stay on. My only gripe with the s22 plus was the terrible battery life and slow charging. The pixel 7 pro just feels like straight plastic all around. Try tapping on the front display and see how hollow it feels. What I do like is the cleaner UI though, but might be going back to trade it in for another s22 plus. Just can't beat the overall build quality that Samsung puts into their devices.

    People are saying that you should compare the Google pixel 7 Pro to the s22 Plus because the price is closer. Now I have a problem with that because the pro is the flagship for Google. So if you're going to release a flagship it doesn't matter what the price is it matters that it's flagship versus flagship. So Samsung put better components into the phone yes because it's more money. Which I see as Samsung carrying more about the longevity of the phone. They stack them to the gills so we don't have to worry about upgrading unless we want to. I never really felt forced to upgrade my Samsung phones. I also didn't with iPhone because of the fact of wow they hardly change anything. Now with the pixel 6 Pro if I still had it I definitely would have upgraded to the seven because I just did not like that phone. It had way too many problems when I had it. It didn't work for what I do. I couldn't put the brightness high off because the phone would die fast. It took forever to process videos. The only thing I really loved about that phone was the Google Assistant. Now with my s22 ultra I love everything about it except for the slowness for stutters. But he is totally right when he says there is a little less polish on the smoothness because of the fact you can do pretty much anything you want with the S22 Ultra. I will take the customizability over having a flawless phone because the fact is it's not that bad. I have OCD and things like stutters really annoy me and make me want to stop using devices. I've never really had that problem with my phone. I've never had it work to the point where I went oh I don't want this phone I'm going to get another one. I have had the Google pixel 6 Pro. iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro, and the iPhone 10. All in the last year and a half and I can safely say that this is the longest phone I've kept and I do not plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Usually when I get a phone and think of using it for 2 years it frightens me because I love to upgrade I don't feel like I'm forced to upgrade but I love getting the new tech. But with this phone it just feels like I am going to be very happy for the next 2 years. Or at least a year and a half when it's paid off.

    All 3 flagships are awesome in different ways. Each has certain things that the others can't match. To greatly over-simplify:
    S22 - features
    Pixel7 - value

    What you aren't addressing here is that the Pixel will NOT let you move the Search Bar on bottom of screens(ALL screens), or the Date\Weather on top left screen, or use voice to text search - pixel forces you to use Google Assistant, and a host of other annoying governors for how you use the Pixel.
    Don't get me wrong, there's a Lot to like about the Pixel 7Pro besides the price.
    But as a former LG user navigating their way into another brand platform and trying to hold on to the features they loved and used a lot the Samsung seems the closest.
    Google Pixel 7Pro is pretty easy to navigate, and if you can get past the oversized screen brightness bar and pull-down menu icons, the rigid "iSO-like "this is what you can change\have\do" or the basic-ness of their "top-of-the-line" phone then this is quite the phone.

    The price of the Pixel is better in relation to its features. I was a Samsung user for a long time but it changed. Samsung devices have a few downsides that i don't like. They never stopped the battery issues. Battery drains in standby very much. Also the blowing batterys occur on newer devices. Software has lots of nice customizations but is alao laggy sometimes. I dont like the performance throtteling on Samsung. I play flight sim on my phone from time to time and its not catching full performance as high fps. The news leaked that high performance is only available during benchmarks. The Pixel does not have those downsides. Yes, currently it has one major software bug with bluetooth and the always on display. Less customization. But loads of nice Googles AI features. On my side it was the pricepoint for my decision.
