This is one of the prettiest timelapse videos I've seen for this build - very impressive and very insightful. Definitely shows the difference between someone who builds a lot of LEGO and my amateur arse who struggled like hell with it!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Check out the full speed build of it on my channel. I also have many more you might enjoy! Have you built this set? What did you think of it?
I’m considering tearing mine down and rebuilding it to get rid of the red pins, to redo the wings because I don’t have a lot of movement, and finish off some of the modifications I’ve already done. I replaced most of the red ball pins but I want to change the orange ball pins and the other red pins and axels. The one modification I’m almost finished is to add flat plates to cover the exposed studs on the outside of the fuselage. After I finished the build I looked at it and got tired of seeing the exposed studs so I started thinking about how I could make the fuselage look more like the movie version and less “unfinished”. Covering the exposed studs has done wonders for the look in my opinion. Great review and I agree with you about the wings, that part of this kit frustrated me and I’m not happy with my result. They just aren’t moving as much as I would like. Might have to rebuild that part at some point. Overall, I love this kit with some “why use these parts” comments.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I think your sentiments are shared by many. I haven't made any modifications to mine as of yet. Too many other sets and videos to build. It would be cool to see the modifications you have done, especially to the outside of the fuselage. Maybe consider doing a short video:). I wonder if we will get more Dune sets? It seems sort of random to only get one but maybe this will just be a one off. Any thoughts on what else they could do a set of?
@@bricksbybrian I have put rebuilding it on hold while I work on my UCS Millennium Falcon and a couple of Lego mecha MOCs. I am waiting on a light kit for the Falcon so I could do a video of the Ornithopter fuselage, which gives me an idea of doing one side with the completed modification and the other side as is. 🤔 I would like to see the other ornithopter, the two seat version in the first movie, and maybe a version with the interior. Beyond those I can’t see what else could be done from the movie, the Spice Harvester and a worm….maybe.
@@stevenwilliams7905 Yeah, I can't think of another set they would come out with for Dune. That would be interesting to see one side updated and the other side as is!
Thanks for your complete and honest review. I wonder if many of the detracting blue and red Technic pins / axels could have been replaced by black ones? They do exist in black don't they? So why did they let them show through like that, as they are really standing out of the main color scheme. A bit of a shame to me. I wonder if black pins with ball end have the same friction as red ones? Maybe that is why they ketp the red ones? Some could also have been hidden with a few parts more I guess. I will build it soon, and see what can be done about it. Because apart from this little issue, which could proove a big one for some people, this set is excellent. Thank you.
They did make some interesting choices with the colored pieces. Often times those pieces get covered up. I agree it is a little distracting and not as clean looking. I'm sure black and grey colors of these pieces exist, and even if they don't they could have created them for this set. Making new pieces with new colors doesn't seem to be something LEGO is against doing. Let me know what you think of the build when you have completed it! What is your next set after this one?

Good info on the landing gear!
Thanks! Thought it would be helpful!!
I really loved the timelapse/stop-motion build of this! I need to re-evaluate how I set up my speed builds..
Thanks! They are a lot of fun and a lot of work as I am sure you know! Check out the full speed build video if you get a chance!
@@bricksbybrian will do! You can check out mine when you get a chance as well!
I really appreciate the behind the scenes and hearing your thoughts as you go.
Great! Happy you found it useful. Did you pick this set up or plan to?
@@bricksbybrian I did pick it up. I actually do similar content to you, and this set is in the pipeline. Keep on building!
@@PBBrickBuilds sweet! I’ll check out your stuff!
