Not only did Shackleton keep his crew's morale up in person, but those left behind on Elephant Island never lost faith that he would come back for them. Several left instructions that when they died, they were to be buried next to him on South Georgia Island.
Shackleton also killed Mrs. Chippy the cat too. The reason he left for the expedition when he did is because his wife caught Shackleton having an affair with Elspeth Beardmore. He was quite the ladies man back then...
I hope between this and the Titanic we continue to get these interesting ships and vehicle kits. I don't have time to build "traditional" plastic kits, or wood ones, but a Lego kit scratches that same itch and make amazing display pieces.
I completely agree and it still breaks my heart that Lego doesn't have the rights to the entire Star Trek IP. There are so many wonderful spaceships that Lego would do such a wonderful job with. Yeah I’m really glad they’re making stuff like this, we need more ships and planes. I would love an SR-71 Blackbird but that’s military so probably not but fingers crossed

I never bought the Titanic, because it feels too ghoulish having such a monument to tragedy in my home. But I am definitely getting the Endurance. It is an amazing symbol of discipline, hope, teamwork and courage. It's going right alongside my Pirates of Buccaneers'' Bay ship (in ship, not shipwreck form), Pirates of the Caribbean Ghost Ship, Ninjago Movie Junk (a great fav!) and Imperial Flagship on top of my Swarovski display cabinets.
I see the titanic set as more of a monument to the amazing feat of engineering the Titanic was, hence the scale and detail of it, with the boxes being printed with blueprints of it and everything.
Leaving a comment for the algorithm because this video deserves it. Great sense of humour, history and informative on the product! You've earnt a subscriber and sold me on the Endurance. Tally-ho!

"Gateway drug lego sets" FACTS, the lego Concorde brought me back into lego after 10 years, now I cant seem to find enough space to display everything lol
I love this model, and that was a very enthusiastic and detailed review. Thanks. For those with an interest in Shackleton, I can recommend the map of South Georgia published by the British Antarctic Survey, which includes a large-scale section detailing his crossing of the island to seek help to rescue his crew who were waiting back on Elephant Island.
Thanks for the review. I appreciate all the authentic pics and film of the Endurance. (Part of the incredible survival story as well as all the men surviving is that the GLASS negatives and film survived.)
This is the first expensive lego set I will ever buy, the second the rumour came out I knew I'd buy it, the endurance and the story was my favourite thing growing up, I am so absurdly excited for this
This is a set I will be buying. I love ships especially the ones from the early 1900s. The fact that they are making ship sets based on real ships just makes it even better. The one thing I’ve dreamed LEGO would do forever and now it’s happening.
I hope we get a HMS Beagle ship to go along with this. They need to make a British ship that didn't hit an iceberg. Wait, I actually don't know if the Beagle has hit an iceberg or not.
Oooh the Beagle is a great shout! Most suggestions I’ve seen have been warships, which are an almost definite NO from LEGO so the beagle is actually a pretty realistic suggestion
I went on a school trip to Dulwich College where the James Caird is located. It was a really amazing experience and I loved learning all about the endurance and Shackleton. Because of this, I brought the boat straight away over other sets from Christmas
Excited to hear this. Endurance is a great story of courage in adversity. Her crew lived up to her name. Apollo 13 was an interesting reference. Also RIP Mrs Chippy - the ship’s cat - who also did not survive.

Unfortunately the model wasnt accepted due to some heavy handed judgement over another model i made.
What chance that Lego will do a model of RRS DIscovery too? They have the real thing at Dundee for comparison. Explorers in those days really were adventurers, no proper maps, no GPS, no planes to come to rescue them, they just set sail and hoped....
Now I just want to see LEGO make the Batavia ship for me its just such a nice ship its not a frigate but still I have been to the replica twice walking its decks and its story it would fit with the shipwreck theme.

Honestly for another shipwreck set (honestly would love if this just became an official thing) Lego should either do the Lusitania or SS Atlantic (A very relatively unknown shipwreck so unlikely... Basically she was the first major shipwreck of the white star line until Titanic, she sank when she hit a rock in Nova Scotia, Canada And sank stern first within minutes, then She was pushed onto the cliffs before being dragged down in a few hour's*

I hoped the Endurance will turn out a bit more... realistic. As is, not bad at all... but not quite as fantastic as I hoped for. And now I'm on the fence about getting it. I really hope that after the recent AC75 America's Cup Technic set, Lego perhaps explores the sailing yachts more. Something like the original America that became the namesake of the regatta or perhaps J-class Endeavour.
Honestly, I think Lego should make more things like this in remembrance of forgotten history/disasters. I know it may be controversial but I always thought Lego should make a set based on the Twin Towers just because of how historical and iconic the buildings are. Like the Titanic, even though it’s a devastating event it is important to history. Let me know what you think about this
Lego should do a "historical ships" range theyve done the titanic now they could do mauretania, britannic, olympic, lusitania, queen mary, QM2, Atlantic, Fatherland
Absolutely loved this video! The historical aspect makes this set even better.

Pitch for a third part of this trilogy of doomed ships sets: the SS Edmund Fitzgerald
07:58 and the cat (from the ships carpenter)
ok now they need to give us The Erebus and The Terror.
Personally I'm looking forward to the LEGO HMS Victory or LEGO The Mary Rose sets which should drop in a few years if this trend keeps up.
