I know automatic is the way to go in the time we in however the manual ya this car 🤷♂️, IT MOOOVES!!!
Sports Mode on the auto simply holds the Revs longer which translates to longer pulls, not a fan, just get a manual and your smile will widen.
The 1.5 engen has a 50/50 give or take ratio. If you cruise nice nicely with it, the petrol is super and if you drive like a houligan wanting to pass the Polo driver ( which by the way you can if you wondering😂..) then from Pretoria to Carnival city is R300 😩.
Suspension harder than your Polo but way more precise even at high speed meneuvering.. Has that go cart fun engaging drive. I was told curve ya R21 from east Rand mall to Pretoria near the airport you effortlessly take it ka 160km/h "I was told... Won't incriminate myself on a social platform😅".
Done Cape Town with it, houligan driving going (3 full tanks and in 12 hours from the east rand😭😂) and a more relaxed drive coming back, poured ko cape and added on ko bloem only. It went and came back and smooth.
You fall in love with it more as you spend time with it, drive other cars sure but getting back to it, you will have that smile revived.
I see you got one. Even the auto is quick and I mean very quick. Doesn't look like it but do a drag race at a traffic light and you will wonder why everyone is so far behind. Best part is the curves and the up hills... It has the best power to body weight ration I'm told. Ooh and the auto also comes with manual mode, the individual even has gear flaps behind the steering wheel... learn to use those and one will touch you. By the way it likes it at high revs, and no it's not complaining, it's getting you in the mood.

Lovely review. It's really premium-fully agree with you. I love MAZDA's conventional 6-speed transmission. Yes, it's just a nice city runner. These cars are built to last (reliability)...But the price HMMMM
I call this car Koko Mazda2 because it's so old lol... And slow. But it does hold up well especially the interior materials and comfort. Not keen on the back styling, but no shame yona it's been around the block. It can probably navigate you without GPS.
At least it is aging gracefully 🤷♂️
My friend bought one last year and she's super happy with it. But yeah, at this price point most buyers will either buy a Polo or look for a small SUV.

The blue Vivo GT looks great, but it only has two airbags 🙅♂️

I thought the engine sound was just my car, now I get it. I agree, Mazda is kind lazy when you press the accelerator. But overall I love Mazda it’s been good to for almost 4 years and it’s pretty-owned. Mazda is pretty

Not a fan of that screen, yoh it's so... Strange, the system font and icons are so big, it's giving "I need to see clearly". Also, no sunroof. But the fit and finish is super nice, I was in a Cx30 and despite the infotainment screen gripes, the fit and finish was really nice
This means in South Africa no infotainment, especially in December, might as well melt , my suggestion move with a jbl speaker 😂

Those touchscreen don't like hot temperatures - my Peugeot 208 hatchback does the same... on that note, a 208 is much sexier for less... yes it's less power, but the ratio of power to weight is what counts.
Lastly, for R380K, in terms of value, that's a Suzuki Fronx .or a Peugeot 2008 crossover/SUV with enough change for lots of champagne. I don't know how Mazda justifies an old design & engine at that price

Hello, my thoughts about that Car,
First it is a Car for one or two adult Persons and not a Family Car.Space is here always a Compromise.
The Motor is a Classic and you have to keep in Mind how to drive a Car with that Motor and with that manual Transmission, is has no Turbo.
All the other Companys are building Cars with 1,0 Liter and a Turbo.
I would always prefer this "Oldschool" Mazda Motor 1,5 Liter without a Turbo.
The Price for Mazda 2 ist always behind the other Companys.The VW Polo for Example is much more expansiver.
This is the last classic Car.
That is surely a cvt transmission hearing from that screaming sound of the car
I think Mazda's, like this one, have the design language down, but the price they go for will definitely have you thinking twice.
I remember my dad was given a Mazda 2 or 3 back in the day when his Tazz went to the panelbeaters, I liked it enough that I thought we should get one 😂

😢 Unfortunately this approach by Mazda trying to be premium isn't really working because it makes them over price their cars and turn to lose loyal customers for that. R380 000 is a lot of money for a compact hatchback this is why hatchback will die because by that money one could just go get a budget SUV and get more car for their money
Buy the mid spec
The interior is dated Mazda has to come up with new cluster design and new infotainment
