These are unbelievable cars to own if you enjoy a car that handles well and is as cheap to own as possible.. Ive had the first one as a runaround for 16 years and 250K. Only ever had to replace a boot release button. R190. Still get 21l/100km.
I think people get more value from cars like the grand i20 ,theres more space for people in the back seat and a decent engine with a better infotainment system
I don't know about you Greg, but I think we would be at least pleasantly happy if Mazda had like a wider screen (just like the CX-5's 30's, etc) and used that rotary function that (THEY) won't let go of, then we would be fine, but the small screen is sooo old school 😅 but I guess you could call me a nitpicker 🐦
No you are absolutely right, this a quite a nice little hatch;quite a lot better than the vw polo vivo!Except for that tiny bity small screen and that disgusting knob...the interior of the Mazda2 is so banal and uninspiring
Great review as always. I think the warranty and service plans sort of justify the price. However in terms of value, the Baleno would be my pick of the bunch, better tech, better pricing, excellent fuel economy and more space and connectivity options. Do note that I'm kind of biased in this lol as I am a Baleno owner myself.
1. Mazda doesn’t make a bad car. It’s actually insane how they don’t have a single bad product in their entire line up. 2. You won’t see a lot on the road because people buy these things to take them to the grave with them. Every single Mazda 2 that was bought in the last 8 years is still running, and the owners have no reason to replace/upgrade them.
Great video!!! What do you think about picking one up on the used market? Mazda is renowned for reliability, but the price tag on the new models is a bit more than other cars in the segment, as well as some newer cross-over SUVs.
Funny thing is the CX3 is based on the Mazda 2 but they don't give the Mazda 2 the same engine that is on the CX3. The Mazda 2 engine whines a lot when you push it or try push it. Overtaking is a noisy and laggy exercise. Engine! Mazda! Engine!
I had a Honda Fit. 2018 and it was AWFUL. Engine issues and tons of quality control flaws. Small cars here in the states are always such low quality. One reason we stopped buying them. Automakers cut massive corners with them even the Japanese.
Mazda2 is indeed not the epitome of what Mazda is as a brand. Besides if Mazda couldn't care enough to update this thing why should buyers care enough to buy it?
@@GregDennisReviews Don't get me wrong, a polo is good car to drive but its just too hyped. Its not the best value for money considering what comes with it as standard. At the price its going for, there are other products that would offer more with out being no.1 on the hijackers list. lastly, I am just not a VW fan🤷♀🤷♀
Wow, congratulations Greg, what a beautifiul review!👌👌I was just browsing youtube and came across your channel and I have subscribed and liked.I was looking for a Vw Polo vivo alternative, and suddenly thought about a Mazda2,and I think thats the car for me now...except i hate that small screen and that pesky knob😜
No... The Mazda 2 competes with the Baleno. They are both B-segment vehicles. Mazda 3 is a C-segment vehicle and competes with bigger cars like the Corolla hatch.
I don't think it's underrated. It is just not priced perfectly. All of the mazda, check Cx30 top of the range against Cx5 entry level!!! And their hatchback, someone is smoking something in mazda
Turbos just give trouble and you wouldn't get the long term reliability and durability this offers. Not many people realise how excellent these cars are. They get blindsided by gimmicks.
Sorry the audio isn’t great. Technology let me down, but I hope you can still enjoy it!
One of the best hatchbacks
It is great!

And I can believe this 👍🏼
21l/100km ?????
@@AldoScarcella Lol. Should be 21km/L
Another day, another Greg Dennis Review - Let's go 🔥😎👏
We cooking 🔥
It's very peppy too when you put your foot down, nice 😎🚗!!

A bigger screen would be great! But it still needs to be a touch screen ☝🏻
No you are absolutely right, this a quite a nice little hatch;quite a lot better than the vw polo vivo!Except for that tiny bity small screen and that disgusting knob...the interior of the Mazda2 is so banal and uninspiring
Honestly the 5 year unlimited service plan is a real good one hey imagine extending that it’s the best really so I think this car makes more sense🎉
It’s a great offer
I've always had a soft spot for Mazda but I think if I was going to get a small Japanese hatchback in this price range, it would be the Honda Fit.
Oh wow I didn’t think of that. Goes to show that Honda isn’t really top of mind these days

Haha slightly biased… but I agree, the Baleno is a great car and amazing value
Suzuki for life !!!

Great review
Do you think the mazda 2 or Suzuki Swift is more reliable in the long run?
The Swift might be a bit too lightweight (Safety concern?)
Great video!!! What do you think about picking one up on the used market? Mazda is renowned for reliability, but the price tag on the new models is a bit more than other cars in the segment, as well as some newer cross-over SUVs.
This is my favourite hatch🙌🔥🔥
I can see why! It’s a great car
Very good video. Mazda all day.....
Thanks for watching!

I really did enjoy the CX3 engine
@GregDennisReviews it's fantastic and the Mazda 2 would be such a winner with it
Great car from Mazda and some aspects better than the polo but I’d still choose Polo
So you confirm that you have your blinkers on !!!
Mazda my fave car brand.
Have driven a polo for 5 years, and I have been driving a mazda for 1 year, and I am not going back.
for Mazda 👍🏾
I think people tend to forget that Mazda is Japanese which should reflect a quality brand. A demo Dynamic probably the sweet spot.
I had a Honda Fit. 2018 and it was AWFUL.
Engine issues and tons of quality control flaws.
Small cars here in the states are always such low quality. One reason we stopped buying them. Automakers cut massive corners with them even the Japanese.
I really love this new Mazda 2 front, but it still looks outdated with the back 🥺
Yeah the back is still giving original Mazda 2
Mazda2 is indeed not the epitome of what Mazda is as a brand. Besides if Mazda couldn't care enough to update this thing why should buyers care enough to buy it?
1. Beleno
2. Madza
3. Then maybe polo
Thanks! Out of interest, what makes you put the Polo 3rd?

Beleno ???
@AldoScarcella baleno, you know what I mean.... the suzuki "Stalet"
I actually would buy a Suzuki Baleno to answer your question 📄💰
But I would buy this MAZDA 🔥- so I am FOR MAZDA!!
Seems like you’re buying both 😂
@@GregDennisReviews Yep 😂😂👌🏾

Thank you so much for the support! I’m glad you found me 👋
Isn't the Mazda 2 more competing with the espresso etc I feel like the baleno is more on the Mazda 3 range
No... The Mazda 2 competes with the Baleno. They are both B-segment vehicles. Mazda 3 is a C-segment vehicle and competes with bigger cars like the Corolla hatch.
Honda Fit > Opel Corsa > Mazda 2 > VW Polo > Suzuki Baleno > Jolion for me personally.
i think its better than the polo
I’ve met a few people that think the same
I don't think it's underrated. It is just not priced perfectly. All of the mazda, check Cx30 top of the range against Cx5 entry level!!! And their hatchback, someone is smoking something in mazda
Their pricing is a bit inflated… but for the build quality, materials and warranty I kinda get it. But it could be dropped slightly.
Japanese car are not changing with time a 2018 model no different with 2024 model
Yup not a lot that’s different
MAZDA 2 VS YARIS :))))
Way overpriced for my liking
No arm rest???
Hell no😒😏
I'll go for Jullion pro for that price tjooo mazda 😅😅😅no no
It is too feminine, but it's beautiful
Indulge me…
Mazda must wake up and smell the coffee still no turbo in 2024
Turbos just give trouble and you wouldn't get the long term reliability and durability this offers. Not many people realise how excellent these cars are. They get blindsided by gimmicks.
Bigger cars yes, but I feel this one is ok without it
I agree
NOOOO turbo for me !!!!!
Sky active is a different beast. You will not miss a turbo. I was driving a TSI before.
Price 😭🤦♂️
I know… 🤷🏻♂️
Mazda 2 is really good, is just overpriced
too expensive
Expensive, small engine...Not fuel efficient, that is the reason you don't see plenty of'em on the road
😂😂😂Not fuel efficient? I've owned 1 for 4 years. It's fuel efficient. I got 6l/100km easily.
I just bought a new Mazda 2 and it's averaging 5.7l/100km.
Not fuel efficient? I get 55 mpg in mine in the UK. And I drive about 90mph everywhere and weigh 25 stone?
Japanese car are overpriced 😮
Chinese and German cars are overpriced.
