Coaches should not be afraid to call their players out in fear of being fired. I agree with Cants on this one.
Coaches should take accountability when they straight ass. Doc rivers and a ton of current coaches always blame the players
@@felixalfaro3119 this true too
Rashad couldn't handle old school coaching so I don't want to hear it.
Not even if he’s right?
Sounds like a bitter old man hating on people more successful than he ever was
nope
Hes the perfect person to say that old school works.
Players like him and AI realized after their careers how much further old school/maturity would have taken them.
U a pure lame
"Doncic questioned Carlisle's authority in front of the team on at least one occasion early in the 2020-21 season: "Who's in charge -- you or Bob?" Doncic barked on his way back to the bench during an early-season game. He was referring to then-Mavs director of quantitative research Haralabos "Bob" Voulgaris, whose rise in power played a role in Dallas' front-office dysfunction and who many players believed dictated lineups and rotation decisions to Carlisle. Carlisle relied heavily on Voulgaris' data but always had final say, team sources said.
In another instance, Doncic had just drawn his third foul midway through the third quarter of last season's playoff opener and was upset that Carlisle had opted to substitute for him. Carlisle ignored the superstar's gesture that indicated he wanted to play through foul trouble.
As Jalen Brunson checked in, Doncic briefly took his glare off Carlisle, dropping his head and clenching his fingers, squeezing the air as if he were crushing something in his hands. Doncic barked at Carlisle as he walked toward the Dallas bench, shaking his head along the way.
Doncic didn't stop at his seat at the end of the bench, stomping another 10 steps until he reached the short wall at the bottom of the arena's lower bowl. He leaned against the wall, rested his head on top of his arms, turned his back to the floor and remained there for most of the Clippers' ensuing possession. When he returned to the bench, Doncic stood and again shouted in Carlisle's direction before finally taking his seat."
Carlisle knew he was gonna get fired because of Luka wanting the team to function in a different way and the Mavs siding with him, so he resigned. That franchise is held hostage under Luka's control, you could see that in the way Luka yelled at the bench to challenge an obvious foul call and they cowered and they all bent the knee to Prince Luka to appease him.
Sure it had nothing to do with Carlisle not winning a playoff series for 11 straight seasons in Dallas. They were looking for a reason.
@@d3vp131 What year was he supposed to win or favored to win a playoff series? You do realize they weren't even favored to win in 2011?
Great details. However Darvin Ham ignored LeBALCO 💊💉 and it still resulted in him being fired as head coach. Singular incidents aren’t proof of anything. Bron couldn’t get Coach Spo fired by Pat Riley. Owners make the final decision. Bottom line.
Did we not just see Rick lose the Pacers at least 2 games this post season.....
@@PetrodollarDealEndedSoWakeUpso it wasn't that fact that his rotation after mid season tournament had nothing to do with it
6:33 “i dont like pop” hilarious “what he say” lmao
Rashad has good takes but because who’s saying it people discredit the statement 🤷🏾♂️
What do you like about his takes?
I believe he wins most debates gil just talks slower and talks with his hands so it seems more believable
Because a solid 80% of the stuff this man says is cap
"Is it obvious?" 😂😂😂
Because he sounds like a hypocrite. He was out dating Kardashians and he wants to get on the show and talk about how players are undisciplined. He can shut up with that.
I gotta agree wit Gil on the darvin ham situation the coach has to set the tone in a lot of cases
This is the difference between winning organizations and losing organization.. old school ethics and accountability is key. Miami hasn't always had the best players but the culture has then competing year in and year out. It made a superstar team with Bron Wade and Bosh a dominate team. We seen Nash had a talented roster.. but lack of discipline and accountability made those talented guys ac disappointment
If my organization is 22-60 but in the green for 15 million, are we really losing?
Kidd needa demand defense and effort fuck Luka feelings
Yeah, but he has to get the owner on board first.
@@Aaron-sv1rm nope he need to be a coach and coach
That’s what he get paid for
You can't coach without the backing of your owner that's going to tell the players shut the F'up and don't come to me with that BS you saying about your coach.
@@Aaron-sv1rm ofc the owner gotta sit back n let the coach coach if they care bout winning
who cares if kidd gets fired he still getting the bag 💰💰 either way !!!
McCants acting like he wasn't crying about Roy Williams coaching him. Stop the 🧢
Haha show with McCants and Gil talking about defense
I don't see how this was acting like he doesn't have complaints about roy?
When Rashad talks I see nothing about a contradiction because he never displayed any if this.. and got that perception from his constant blaming others for his lack of success..
That's why you're a fan. And he's the pro. Smh very dumb
he was like that in college & in the league = he's completely delusional because he's so obnoxious/arrogant/full of himself = McCant got really mad when UNC rated May above him = that hit to his ego crippled him mentally = he hasn't recovered since
Maybe he realized later on in life that he was wrong. Y’all don’t like when people grow and realize they were wrong. Y’all will pigeonhole someone and say they’re hypocritical simply because they’re saying something that you don’t like lol.
Your statement makes no sense "respectfully" 😂
Two things can be true
He wasn’t on this then but he’s on this now
That pop gm /coach joke was funny not gonna lie
Nobody believed B.J when he said he’ll slap somebody 😂😂

McCants with the fossil/dna line was a bar!
Mccants smart af and stupid at the same time 🤣
Rashad talking that shit
If rashad was in the nba now he would have a 15 plus yr career clearly he couldnt handle that nba style
how do they hang around BJ bruh 😂 he literally a troll when it comes to debating, at least mcants got valid points
everyone got one homie who does that shit
Love this show
Gil making a point….
I think this is what happen to Coach Mark Jackson.. he was to tough on the GSW knowing he was the architect of those Golden State Warriors championship teams next thing you know they get a softer Steve Kerr, and he takes all of the credit for the championships that should’ve been Mark Jackson’s
Nah that’s not it. The NBA did him dirty
The shirt shad got on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Gil makes a good point about some college programs being more strict than NBA programs and taking young players and installing them into a mature and productive system in order to negate the outcome of doing the polar opposite.
I freaking Love Gil! Great dude. Wish he had a better career.
imo its always undestanding between the players and the coachs. they have willingly to be coach and coach willingly to be flex about something that not disturbe the team.
Jerry Krause wasn't talking crazy to nobody wtf is gil talking about 😂
He said he was just as or more important than the players lol
@@BizzyBusiness he has a point cuz he hand pick players but he wasn't talking crazy or reckless about his players...Gil just be lying to the young generation because he knows y'all don't do any research so anything he says y'all take as the gospel and than make a tiktok video
@@fresh2def23231so true. Heck, I’ve always maintained Krause didn’t get ENOUGH respect/credit for building the Bulls. MJ rode him and then sun times reporters Lacy J Banks, Jay Mariotti would go along with the slander.
That part
Rod Thorn drafted MJ, not Krause. Jordan was the one who took responsibility and adapted his game when he kept losing to the Pistons, he decided to put on 20 lbs of muscle in the offseason, fully trust his teammates, and become the leader they needed in order to get past them, and assert their dominance.
Krause did gets credit for hiring Tex Winters, who incorporated the triangle, Phil, Scottie Kukoc, trading for numerous role players like Cartwright, etc. He was inducted into the hall of fame. So he did get credit. And I have no problem with it.
But guess how the rebuild went. Once he finally had a chance to operate out of MJ's shadow? It was an unmitigated disaster, that went so poorly he left basketball altogether.
So let's not pretend building around the g.o.a.t. didn't help him tremendously.
Riley had em run laps, JJ gonna give daps. Riley had high demands on Wade, Kobe and Mike weren't buddy buddy with Phil.
Yep. Phil Jackson would even call out his star players in postgame interviews. Usually for bad decisions or areas he wanted them to improve in. He'd do it knowing the journalists would immediately quote him and ask the player about it. Nowadays the coach is everybody's friend, and will defend them no matter what. Phil Jackson's way worked better...
@@marquettegloves9907 it not even coaches are soft imo it the fact NBA guys are divas and now gms just say ight cool fire the coach if the coach actually tries to build a culture
You played for jj before?
@@ashtonkusher433lmao these dudes making up fantasy scenarios

I agree with both sides to a certain extent. Communication and how it’s done is more important than it has ever been.
It's been that way forever. John Wooden talked about it in his leadership book, Dean Smith talked about it in his The Carolina Way. If you can't play in our system, you can't be here and they were just fine. Players can't run the team, it has to be the coach and the GM. If you don't want to be coached, go play for a losing team.
Shoutout to Gil for keeping it real. I been saying it.
When these guys talk about how hard they work i laugh. They don't work hard gimme a break. These dudes do what they want.
Great take from Rashad, mixing the old with the new learn fundamentals and then add on the freestyles
Gill so real with his comments about everything about NBA
Legit! Players have too much power nowadays. Glad to be a Spurs fan with Coach Pop leading the way and their "structure". Props to Rashad for making good points, bottomline teams need an old school presence in the lockeroom.
McCants with the UNC Matto 1:14
IDC what yall say McCants make this show so much better 😂
It was the same thing in the 90s also with players coaches and owners
Jj will help provide the right shooters and not just shooting 3’s small and big players that can pick and roll shoot mid too.truzz💯
lol @ the stay ready vibe
“Just stay ready shad” lmao while your team straight losin is crazzzy work
I ain’t gone fake Brandon show how slow he is everyday, dude the type to say anything to not be wrong
But how many players in the NBA are the same way as him. Like I'm not going at you or saying you are wrong I totally agree but too many players have that same mentality but they hide it from the cameras.
Where they get those shirts from.. Straight fire
Rashad and BJ acting oblivious. They know what Gil talking about. It was literally on the espn how a lot of the players called ham out
Best gil's arena squad right here these 4 are gold together! 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Kenyon is pretty fun to watch too.
Bj don’t really bring much it’s mccants , gill , Kenyon is tha lineup
I agree with G.A.. Now, that is how you develop a player!

Vogel refused to hold KD accountable this year too.....That bull-ish on Xmas vs the Mavs was the absolute WORST
For millions of dollars u can do 300 practice shots and do what it takes to stay ready
This my first time EVER agreeing with Mccants 😂💯
I agree with Rashad, I would whether a coach be completely honest with me instead of saying nothing at all.
Rashad t-shirt game is slept on.
So why do they get mad when us old heads call them soft when everything about them is fricking softtt!
Speak that
that's because every era is soft besides 80s and under. ever since people started calling another human being jesus and everybody started getting buddy buddy, the league has been filled with a bunch of girl scouts. Whether you wanna admit it or not, your era is most likely filled with some soft players and they're only getting softer. 90s is soft, 2000s is softer, 2010s is softer than that and 2020s is softer than that.

I dont know. Rick Carlisle was there for minute. While coaching Dirk
Coach the players, if you win the owners will fall in line and support the coach.
My nigga Gill watch the Locker Room "Lemon daddy"😂😂😂😂😂
I should be illegal to be this early…
I have been saying what Gil is saying for a long time. These young bucks want to get paid but don't want anyone to hold them accountable for what they do wrong. This is what the world has done to them .Like giving everyone a trophy even if you in last place in little league.
When Rashad McCants making more sense than you yk you fuckin up 😂💯
Why didn't rashaad mccants apply all this wisdom in his career
You typod the Title... what u meant to put is Ruin* not Run
They got kidd out of Milwaukee 🤨
This is the first time since this shit started that I agree with Rashad ………….
2 things can be true lol so Gil and Rashad both right but ima side with Gil tho slightly..times are def changing and with the way teams are willing to fire a coach and have him on the books for 3-4 years after the fact literally gives the power to players..:if your not a players coach nowadays its just a matter of time before your let go
I actually like that this isn't a video about Redick
B Jennings said “they in the finals” 😂😂😂😂😂 Rashad be on point but don’t question hall of fame player/coach Jkidd
Gil always right its all about player power
Just stay ready!
@Gilsarena plumbers & fireman!!!
If I'm Jason Kidd, in practice, I'm stopping every play that Luka doesn't run back on defense, especially if he turns the ball over.
Man Mr B wild for that! 😂
Gil is speaking from a perspective of a father who also has a child that’s an athlete. That’s what the guys on here not understanding. Our high school team this year did terrible. We had two players walk off the court and quit the team. Other kids had no spirit. Our coach is like late 40s and coached how we were coached 20 years ago. Them kids couldn’t take it.
“Who Hoopin!!” Rashad McCants 2024
Real question with the JJ Reddick signing how close do you think the Lakers are to a championship... Also if they Draft Bronny how close does that put them?
Aye Gil my 🥷 tho real shit
McCann stance on this is so hypocritical to the stance he’s taken about coaches in the past. Who else remembers all the times he said his career was derailed by bad coaching & now all of a sudden, it’s players fault not coaches.
JJ needs to get Clark and Reese on LA. That’s your PG and SM Forward. Clark, Austin, Reese, Bron and AD.
Brandon’s shirt go crazy
Discipline does not equal yelling and or disrespect. You don't have to yell at someone to install Disciplined you don't have to be disrespectful "MF THIS THAT" to get Disciplined.
The league now is watered down...U can't say anything to these cats. BEST NBA PODCAST HANDS DOWN 🎉
The media destroyed Steve Nash when he was a coach, they questioned everything and everybody complained about it. But JJ being a coach is alright ??? That podcast was something else man it was embarrassing to watch because we all knew what was going on
It's funny how bad everyone's memory is when it comes to Darvin Ham. Dlo and Reaves were averaging 20 and got benched for Cam Reddish and TP. The Lakers then went on their worst stretch of the season. When the Lakers ran the lineups that everyone thought were the obvious choices they were a top 5 team in the league statistically. Darvin Ham avoided those lineups like they were the plague. At no point during the season did Ham run back the starting 5 that got the Lakers to the WCF. During that 2OT game against the Warriors, Vando had the highest +/- on the team and TP had the lowest. TP started the next 2 months. In the last game against the Nuggets all the guys who impacted winning were healthy, and in a closeout game for the season there is NO REASON to stick to rotation that's obviously not working. Ham did not play Vando, Wood, or Christie EVEN WHEN THEIR BIGGEST WEAKNESS WAS WING DEFENSE. Darvin Ham wasn't just bad he was HORRIBLE. With Frank Vogel both 2023 and 2024 are finals/championship years.
Rashad know JJ will be alright dealing with the LA media. JJ cut different if you know you know I’m proud he got to the NBA and now head coach of the Lakers S/O JJ
The bots on mccants sides is crazy
Old School Pat Riley ran Lebron up outta there and they ain’t won since. 🫣
JJ and Bronny the only thing keeping the Lakers on Primetime TV
Show is peak when they talk like this
Why are they pretending to not understand Gil's point? Arenas is absolutely right. These new players are not wanting an experienced coach, or a college coach. These dudes want a former nba player as coach.
There a ton of ex players that became coaches..... that's been going on 4eva.....
@MrBadass773 OK, but you missing my point. I'm not saying a former NBA player can't be a great coach, but usually former NBA players don't win championships, but I digress. My point is, the Van Gundy's, the Popoviches, the Riley's, etc., are a dying breed. And those type coaches, get you rings.
Freaking thought the guy on the right-hand-side of the thumbnail was DeAaron Fox.....
JJ acts like a good ol boy…he the type that will backstab Lebron
Today's coaches are babysitters and enablers..players don't wanna be coached anymore...
Gil be talking in circles. First he says you can’t be tough on these young players but says he teach them the old school way and times blamed older coaches from not being able to relate to young players like Monty Williams in Detroit
Giannis doesn't wannabe held accountable either. What are you talking about? He gets Jrue & Grayson traded and coaches fired cause he wants to blame someone
Rashad be like "they sell the most French fries cuz they use my last name"
3:00😂😂😂😂😂 faxxxxxx MCCANTS faxxxxxxxxxx 😂 luka and joker look crazy with they arms up screaming or crying to a ref when they don’t get a call cuz they throwing they head back and falling down lol 😂
Gilbert living in his alternative universe again, lol.
NA Yall just don’t think outside of social constructs it’s like yall have a govern on Yall thinking as if yall only can think to a certain point but that’s how most Peoples Brains work though
@TV1stTime Nah,, Gilbert makes up more fantasy than J.R.R.Tolkien
No Sir, Gilbert living in a universe that he knows better than you, me, and 99% of the social media - the NBA. Power always come from the top down.
Keep telling yaself thattt
Spurs & Heat culture - keeping telling yourself they don't have the best culture because ownership and management support the coach. You sound like a Cowboy fan whose players run to Jerry Jones for everything, saying F the coach....good luck with that.
I understood what Gil was saying, but McCants is right on this take. Jennings was making good points too.
Rashad must not remember Adrian Griffin who had Bucks 1 in the east lol
Why darvin ham so protected lol
Tremont Waters belongs in the National Basketball Association ASAP
Gill: "contract keep working the way u working'
Also gill: 'Stay ready means nothing'.
Lol gill u doing 2 much man 🤣🤣🤣🤣 u not always right Gil..
Gil is right though... The players today have a different culture. The players have been given way too much power. And the players today talk accountability, but they really don't want it. This is the era off the player's power. It's very few teams where players respect coaches.
