Amanda has the easiest choice. She had to cut the key out of a guy she thought was dead. Even if she knew he wasn’t, cutting the key out of someone else is a hell of a lot easier than cutting your own eye out.
I’ve been thinking this same thing. Every other test required someone to inflict physical pain or maiming to themselves in order to “learn their lesson” and survive. Amanda did not.

RobinBlueLucy what I'm saying is that the script didn't make much sense which this guy stated himself in the video. Like, swat enters the building, finds the mastermind, but doesn't even bother to scatter around looking for clues etc., which is what real life swat would do (they'd just tear the whole place up and explore every room in that building, if it was necessary, they'd even break all the furniture)

Yeah I had thought about that scene for years, wondering if I could do it or not. I definitely want to live, and I can live without an eye, the mere thought of digging my own eyeball out though...that’s horrifying.
I would do it after like thirty seconds of crying and questioning life with an eyepatch.
Very few people would be able to do that. You can also die from that removal process. There is also the panic and short time frame. Another point is do you accept what you are told or assume it is torture with no escape option. How many people could think clearly in that situation? I am betting its a low percentage.

I can only assume CinemaSins watches a movie once, and writes down everything he says live, and does exactly zero other watches or revisions of those raw sins. That's why his sins sometimes contradict each other and don't take into account what's revealed later.

Bear-Dog thats what always fascinated me about these movies...The clues were always there from the beginning but no one really paid attention.
Because if people would act like normal intelligent beings, these type of movies would be over after 10 minutes tops.
that is pretty clever lol. the first few of these movies had a handful of pretty smart hints and clues and this was a pretty neat twist. even if, like jeremy said, the build up was god awful.

The fact that Jigsaw explained the rules and was honest about them every single time...if Matthews had just sat and listened the time release safe (which is why it opened without anyone touching it, if they had tried to force it open they could have hurt/killed the son), would have opened, Jigsaw would have been arrested.
Oddly enough he would have been happy because someone followed the rules on what could be the easiest game in the entire series.

To be fair the Saw movies are horrible. As in they're badly acted with tons of plot holes and ridiculous shit that couldn't possibly work in real life. But some of the stories, like the ending of this film, are pretty well thought out.

Jim Sharp I thought that too, but when I went back to look closer, I noticed there are "sleeves" below the openings that would prevent someone doing that. I think the only option would be to somehow knock those sleeves off the trap so you could then do as you suggested.

Eric Pratt No, they were not. Watch the movie. The Swat team went to a third location, in which the tapes from the game happening in the second location (the house) were being fed to the monitors at the first location (the warehouse). Jigsaw took Detective Matthews to the actual house.

I'm a little late here but I'd have to think that the pain from having a key placed in your eye would hurt just as badly. Besides, they likely had to cut all the tissue that holds the eye in place in order to put the key in, so I'm fairly certain a sharp tap on the head would make that eyeball fall right out, no cutting involved. Should be comparatively easy, that is, if we pretend vagal response isn't a thing.
his death seemed pretty quick tbh, those spikes going into his head surely would have killed him instantly.
He doesnt have to pull his eye out the key is mostly in his cheak.
But yeah pretty sure not everyone would have the mental faculties, panic a funny thing. (and that assuming he not got any lingering effects from the sedative used to abduct and put him in that trap)
Not to mention he woke up in the trap not after surgery meaning he probably went straight from surgery into the trap and the anesthetic and numbing agents may have still been working pretty strong
Factor the adrenaline and I don't think the pain would be even close to somebody just walking in off the street to cut out their eye

Random thought: the gun in the peephole trap might have been meant to scare them. I don't think Jigsaw thought anyone would look in the peephole as the door was being unlocked. He probably thought they'd look first, see the gun/darkness and then use the key.

The eye is a highly sensitive organ. As I was saying about my contacts and just getting a hair or a bit of dirt between my contact and my eye, it hurts a lot.
I can only imagine how much worse cutting my own eye out would feel when it already feels like someone stabbed me in the eye just from that.

I wouldn't have been surprised at all If the Cereals, that John Kramer ate in SAW 2 when the Cop and the SWAT Team entered His room, were in the shape of little Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces...because John Kramer chewed psychologically on the nerves of the Cop so it would've been a genius easteregg / Reference imho

I think Hoffman deliberately did what he did so he could get both Amanda and John killed, and not only be the hero, but free himself of the chain of John, but Strahm lived long enough to keep him on the radar, and led to Hoffman's later killing spree.

I always thought cutting your own eye out was one of the hardest Saw challenges. It's basically the only one that I actually remembered after seeing all these movies several years ago. It stuck with me because of how hard it would be to do to yourself.
This movie was put together with "Full Sail", the incredibly expensive arts college. It was basically a senior project, if that answers any questions.
I did not know that I like Saw but I feel like all of them are some time of Senior project. They get slightly better but have hit and miss factors in all of them only one I dislike is Saw 7 I've grown to love all the others

Karmas Camera lights out was weird...it is seen as a B movie but it's really really good, not to many horrors out there that are really any good to put it politely but lights out was very good.
Ryan cave I really disagree. I wanted it to be good, but I frankly didn't enjoy it at all. The short film is still excellent, though.

You shouldn' hold them except if you're in a situation where it's absolutely necessary. And if you put something in their mouth they could choke, which isn't nice. At least that's what I learned.

Channel 3 for most t.v.s back in the day was what VHS and gaming consoles used to play on the T.V.

To be fair, the easy solution to Jigsaw's puzzles is just to try to break them. That spikey bat? Just smash literally everything that isn't a person with it. And then smash the most suspicious person. Just them. No one else. Jigsaw's puzzles don't work if you remove the chain holding up the letter from one then use it to lower someone toward the needle pit after smashing the time limit mechanism. Then someone removes the needles one by one. That whole hand trap? Solved by brute force. Those doors? Brute force. Every single problem they had? Brute force.
... Just because you break a display, doesn't mean the mechanism doesn't work, dumbass.
