Millie was a treasure - that last line about "The woman in New Rochelle that no one ever spoke to for the rest of her life." as it slowly dawns on her. She could do that 'slowly dawning on her' better than anybody,

I swear Dick Van Dyke could do anything! He was a master of physical comedy, an amazingly adept dancer, an enormously talented actor, and IMHO, an all-around great person.

The woman with the dog is Hope Summers who was semi regular on the Andy Griffith show as Aunt Bee’s best friend. Also a Sheldon Leonard production. They tended to shift supporting actors back and forth between both shows such as Alan Melvin . Also there were appearances of Dabbs Greer and Amzie Strickland who seemed to appear in every TV show of the time. It seemed that there was a small group of supporting actors who circulated through every show.

Aunt Bee's best friend started as Clara Johnson and in the later seasons of "The Andy Griffith Show" she was Clara Edwards.

@Gary. Hope Summers was also a regular in "The Rifleman." She played Hattie who owned a store in the town of Northfork. Amzie Strickland played Barney's very shy girlfriend in an early season of "The Andy Griffith Show." Allan Melvin was a Sargeant in "Gomer Pyle, USMC" and he played Alice's boyfriend in "The Brady Bunch." He owned a butcher shop in that show.

I love Millie's expression at the end, that and also on "Love Thy Other Neighbor" when she's bothered by Laura's rekindled friendship.
Ann Morgan Guilbert was in 1997 show at the Old Globe in San Diego where I work. She was a neat lady. I never watched "The Nanny" so it was a surprise to learn she was in that cast too.

It’s a historical document of the culture of the time. They didn’t perceive the insults as psychologically injurious as we do. They would be appalled by the open discussion of sexuality in our day. Even Rob and Laura sleep indifferent beds due to the film morality code of the time that went back to the 1930’s. It’s a logical fallacy to apply our mores on the behavior of people in the past .

I was born in the 80s and I think we need a little bit of the morals from the past right now. The world has gone absolutely nuts. Everyone is so offended by every little thing, and then they want to take away the right of expression of those they don't agree with. It's a sad state of affairs, but nonetheless, this show is a great escape from it all.

When my parents weren't whipping me, hitting me with the closest object, tieing me to a chair in a dark basement, and/or other medieval punishments, they used those exact words and much more harmful ones. From the time I was old enough to remember, my parents called me a "rotten SOB," a "stupid little bastard," which didn't make any sense since that made my mother a tramp, and many other pride-building expletives. When I was 11, I had enough of their abuse and ran away, which was okay with them. My parents taught me one important lesson; precisely what NOT to do when raising children.
