@@denisewilson8367 Yes I made it home OK. While I was there the wall fell in Berlin and Communism collapsed so there wasn't much danger in Europe at that time. However the day before I left Europe Saddam invaded Kuwait and everyone was on alert for terrorists. I spent the whole 1st gulf war in Texas watching it on CNN like everyone else.
I spent one whole summer redoing our Mobile home kitchen. I found MAJOR water damage from under the kitchen cabinet all the way to the corner behind the refrigerator. The floor was rotten. The sill plate and 2 feet up every stud was rotted. I had to replace all of that. My biggest issue was setting the new cabinets. My brother from Texas came and helped because I couldn't get things square. Mobile homes are NOT square. It turned out fantastic, but what a PAIN!! NEVER AGAIN. @housedimitrescu7196 having moved two...the bigger ones...they don't quite transport well. Stuff breaks, especially toilets. Probably as there isn't much give in porcelain, they crack.
Doug, I am SO glad you have that respirator. I can’t imagine doing these gross dirty jobs without it. You are an amazing builder. I read a super nice complement on your channel the other day. I’m happy to see you working on the mobile home again! The sooner you finish, the sooner you can make money off of it!! Who would have guessed, not that many years ago, that an old mobile home, on it's own plot of land, would be worth as much as it is today? Being totally renovated makes it worth so much more. In my area, a mobile home, on it's own private lot (not in a park), used to rent for $250.-$350., but now they rent for $900.- $1k a month, and that's without, or a very minimual cosmetic reno, and we're no where near FL. You never have to worry about supporting your family, because of your skill set regarding mobile homes, and being in FL, you're in the perfect location. You could make a small fortune doing reno's/repair's on other people's mobile homes, just by word of mouth, should you ever want, or need to.
Scrapers don't play in Florida. I was putting stuff out for them. First load gone before I could walk to the back of the property to grab more. Great job you guys!
Thank you so much for the detailed demolition. I need to do something like this for a single wide. I am thinking of just keeping it as a storage "shed" and getting a newer mobile home for the property.
My husband and I have started watching your TH-cam channel. We are amazed that you do these demolitions with a hammer and crowbar! Looking forward to seeing the outcome if your home and this investment property. Stay healthy, and be careful!
It’s going to be a nice place when y’all are through! That’s a large kitchen area! Stay safe and well and it’s a good plan to go slow in the heat and humidity, much love to all ❤
I remember rehabbing our '74 Dbl wide's kitchen. It wasn't that big, and the cabinet frames were solid so we rebuilt using the frames. New cherry doors (28)/drawers (7) & all the hardware. We applied cherry veneer and re-faced the cabinets. Stained everything in cherry. Rebuilt the floors, put in CoreTex H2O proof LVF throughout the entire house. Cleaned & Painted over all the inside cabinet surfaces, the paper was "Paul Revere" themed!!!! It was weird paper!! Seeing the paper in your MH reminded of our remodel! It was sooo worth all the hard work. That kitchen sold that house for us. It was very nice when we finished. 😊
The way that has opened up you could completely redo the entire layout opening it up like you did in Michigan. Been following your remodels for years now and you always seem to do something unexpected (in a good way). So what are your plans for the mobile home design wise? Are you going to do a new layout, new windows and doors? What about air conditioning will it be central air or mini splits? Just curious. 😊.
I wish I could show the new layout but I know that a lot of people don't understand our vision and we'll just get a lot of critiques and suggestions. It may be best for us to just work and share it as we go. But there will be some big changes. The doors and windows are all shot. They need to be replaced. And we are expecting to install mini splits.
I have a question. What keeps an oven from burning up the cabinets around it? We've had a number of stoves over the years, some put out more heat than others.
At about 12:50, looks like your camera needs a face guard, too, lol. One favor I would ask you to do … when you put closets or upper cabinets back, can you put trim/molding up to the ceiling? Whenever I see cabinets with just a couple inches above, it makes me think it’s unfinished … even in higher end remodels, it just doesn’t look right, PLUS, it’s just another hard to reach dust catcher. Amazing job, as always ..l can’t wait to see your plans for rebuilding.
** ok so I know you said you're not saving anything and for us not to ever write it.. AAHHH.. but the knobs.. yeah.. I have this thing for knobs. it's like everything I build needs a darn knob.. and they are so expensive. so now when i see an old cabinet on a lawn I stop and remove the knobs and handles.. even old dressers. I use them for all kinds of odds and ends projects. It comes in handy just having them to grab when I need to. So yeah.. sorry I didn't listen :(( couldn't help myself.. lol :)) and wow, everytime you tear apart a room I can hardly believe what it looks like behind and under everyting.. Now I understand why you gut it to the studs each time and start fresh.. This home is going to be so freaking beautiful when you are done. I'm excited to follow along on this one..

It’s going to be a nice place when y’all are through! That’s a large kitchen area! Stay safe and well and it’s a good plan to go slow in the heat and humidity, much love to all ❤
You two are awesome at making nice homes out of ran down homes.I am looking forward to seeing more!
My daddy always said "dynamite comes in small packages!" Doug and Ashley proved that right!
Wow, Doug, Ashley you both doing a great job, thanks for sharing your video, wishing y'all have a lovely day.
Awesome progress. Can’t wait to see the next one. Amazing work and thanks for sharing this with us take care
Good demo job! Just a little bit more and you’ll be ready to rebuild!
It was a beautiful home at one time. U will make it beautiful again.
Nice job guys, but Doug we really don't need close-ups of the roaches LOL
Still have the willies from that spider. You guys are brave and intrepid!!!😅
Love watching when it’s demolition time👍👏😊
Can’t wait to see the new layout. I know it will be so much better,
The way that has opened up you could completely redo the entire layout opening it up like you did in Michigan.
Going to be fun to see how you rebuild the trailer. Thanks ❤😊🌹
Are you guys keeping the general layout of the kitchen? It was nice, just dirty and gross. But the design was kind of cool.
No, we have decided to change it up quite a bit.
I have a question. What keeps an oven from burning up the cabinets around it? We've had a number of stoves over the years, some put out more heat than others.
I'm assuming there is a layer of insulation in them.
I’m so excited for this makeover!!
You're amazing young man you're doing a great job
Doug: Do you like demolishing a room better than remodeling it, all the detail molding work and doorframes etc?
I dislike doing trim work, But the rebuild is fine, framing, walls, wiring, etc. I like the rebuild better than the demo.
I have to remember not to eat when I'm watching demos, I should have realized that with "kitchens are nasty"
