Literally saw so many comments in the post-Draft press conference calling him the most unlikeable coach of all time. Like, are we serious with this? Pretty sure the one the Raiders just kicked to the curb was way worse...
I love Sean Payton we are lucky to have a legit hard nosed real football coach to save this franchise. He has an actual plan and I believe it's a good one.
Hey! Just wanted to say I appreciate your support for Sean Payton. Although he can seem like a grumpy old man sometimes I truly believe he’s making the best decisions for our team and you just proved it!!!
So I 100% agree with you. Payton is the first coach we hired that I actually wanted since Kubs, love him. I also wanted to mention that I disagree with what he said about Wilson in that if he is successful with the squealers that broncos country will turn on him. I guess maybe some fair weather fans who don't really understand the game or the importance of a coach I guess. Regardless Wilson and Payton were not aligned, defenitely not the way he was with Carroll. And, that has nothing to do with how good of a coach Sean Payton is, he's not a good coach for every player. No one is. Plus Wilson couldn't run Paytons offense. So, us turning on him if the Steelers make the playoffs? I don't see that happening what-so-ever. The long and the short of it is to me is that I think it really all comes down to Nix progressing the way we expect him to. No more no less.
So, I can only speak for myself. I am a long time Denver Broncos fan. Think back to the early Days of Elway under center. Sean Payton has done a few things that makes me intensely dislike him as a person, while acknowledging his skill as a coach and offensive mind. First, I will always despise him for his role in Bounty-Gate. He took a plea deal and served a one year suspension to prevent the extent of his involvement from ever going public and likely significantly impacting his career. But that man was offering bonuses for hurting other players, in a game that is already notorious for short careers and extensive health problems following playing. Secondly, I fully endorsed moving on from Russell Wilson. He was not a fit for the offense that Sean Payton was trying to run and it was the right move to sever ties. But, the media smear campaign that has been orchestrated on Wilson following his release was beyond trashy and slimy. And I will likely continue to despise Payton for his role in orchestrating it.
Hey Ben, been watching you for a few weeks and you're growing on me... Haha. Brother, WHERE did you get that camo shirt? I cannot find it for some reason. Please let me know. Hope it's NOT Fanatics, because their shirts are GARBAGE and fall apart too fast, despite their high cost... Thank you for your help, because I needs one of those for my collection...
I believe that Sean Payton was right in all the issues that were discussed here expect the criticism of Nathaniel Hackett. You can't judge a coach who excels in design of the passing game if his quarterbacks were Russell Wilson and Zack Wilson. I think Sean Payton realized when the Broncos started 1-5 that the problem wasn't Nathaniel Hackett, but rather Russell Wilson. But to Payton's credit, he did later express regret about making those comments about Hackett when he realized how frustrating it was to have Russ as your quarterback.
Massive Broncos fan here. People hate Sean Payton because of bounty gate. On every human level what he was doing was wrong. Did he orchestrate it? No. Did he know of it? Absolutely. Did he do anything to stop HIS team from doing these wrongs? No.
His no call vs the LA Rams in the playoffs was probably one of the sketchiest things in the history of the league. I feel like you could argue that it was intentional. I don't know if his 'bounty program' that he had with the Saints still follows him around.
Even if cap goes up, Wilson cap hit next year is 32 million. That is 32 million less talent on the team. That is a lot of quality players. Of course it hurts, a lot.
Payton does questionable things to make him hate-able. Idk how Simmons is still available but all the free agents left are over 28, mostly over 29 JS included. I think the league just wants to go younger.
Everyone does not hate Sean Payton. A few people do, & Bronco fans magnify that in their minds as if it's universal. If you're talking about the media, most of these guys have more on their minds than what's going on out in Denver in the Mountain Time Zone. Seriously...every fan base thinks their players & coaches are hated or mistreated.

Man, we are gonna get destroyed by the Steelers and Russell Wilson. And the Steelers have a MUCH better shot at the post season than we do. There should be zero discussion about Russ at this point. He’s clearly QB 1 and clearly in a different league compared to Justin Fields, when you watch or listen to people who are Steelers YTers.
