@@kurtpunchesthings2411The panthers were coming off our best period in franchise history when tepper bought the team. Lots of squandered potential from managerial incompetence sure but still not a bad run being the first team to ever win 3 straight nfc south titles. Tepper has contempt for everything that preceded him and has called fans basement dwellers on multiple occasions. He is literally wealthy trailer trash and, solely on the football wide of things, worse than Snyder imo when you consider that he has all of the same downsides Snyder did with the added perk of actively trying to destroy every single thing that made the team unique.
David Tepper said he wanted to run the Panthers like a hedge fund. Always run far away from people who say they want to run something like another thing that’s completely different.
In communist Russia, the politicians that knew nothing about farming, decided to change the way farming was done. The result was 20,000,000 people starving to death.
It’s funny how while the Carolina Panthers have started a potential horrific dark age after getting an elite quarterback and a huge Super Bowl run in their recent history, the Florida Panthers, a team that had been a huge afterthought and basically considered the easy option to move somewhere else, have maintained their upswing from the recent playoff run and have very likely revitalized their overall long term fortunes as a franchises. The teams with glorious riches crashing down and those in the doldrums coming up is a common occurrence in sports, but it’s still fascinating to witness.
Not just Florida Panthers, but Carolina Hurricanes too. Raleigh loves Rod (we always have) and Tom Dundon. If you want to see the dichotomy of ownership, you don't even have to leave the state.
We're seeing some of it up here too with the Minnesota Timberwolves, since at the same time Glen Taylor is gradually selling more of the team to Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez (Yes. A-ROD), the team is currently leading the West in their best start to a season in franchise history. Hopefully, the good fortune holds. The Twin Cities have always been an underrated basketball town, and have been in dire need of hope in that sport.
Been to a few Panthers games in the past calendar year, they're a fun watch. One thing about South Florida, if the team is winning, they'll show up (see FAU men's basketball. From a half empty arena two years ago, to completely sold out home games this season.)
Panthers psl owner since 99. Thanks for making this @urinatingtree The nfl fans outside of Carolina need to know how drastic it is now here. He makes me nostalgic for Jerry Richardson openly Every year he’s owned the team has been worse, even the field got downgraded to bad turf under him. Fitting considering the original field was made of 1 yard squares of dirt of EACH county in the 2 Carolina’s. Symbolic. And the first thing that bald artard did it rip it up for astroturf. The football gods will act accordingly
Honestly, Jerry Richardson had his issues (which ultimately led to his selling of the team he founded), but he cared about the team, he cared about the region, and he generally knew when to stay out of his own way. He also had some instances where he would take responsibility. I can honestly see a day where Tepper is forced out a la Dan Snyder and all the dirty laundry is aired out. When that day comes, what Jerry Richardson did will pale in comparison.
Tree as a Panthers fan I gotta say thank you for making multiple videos about our sad little franchise. We're one of the least discussed teams in the league even when we've been good. Cool to see one of the larger sports TH-camrs give us some attention. You make me hate the Steelers less
David Tepper is falling for the same trap so many owners have fallen into. Because they’re the owner they feel like it’s their show but they don’t let their football guys make the football decisions. And this is what you have. It’s crazy how everybody but him sees it
This is why Robert Kraft is one of the best owners of all time He doesn't get involved in that stuff he just basically says OK Bill run this team and I'll give the money for salarys It worked very week 6 superbowls In 24 years imagine average a superbowl win every 4 years for a peorid of 24 years ....
Tepper basically acts like every 14 year old who plays madden franchise and expects perfect seasons every time. Theres meddling owners and then there's petty assholes with an attitude

@@JackCallSports oh my lord lol I bet they weren't very happy last summer now were they or are you not able to disclose that one of my favorite drivers is taking over the 4 this year so I'm a bit worried
I've been a fan of this team for over 20 years. I've seen a lot with this franchise. I remember when they made the Super Bowl in 2003 and nearly derailed the Pats dynasty out of nowhere. I remember when John Fox overstayed his welcome and led to a miserable 2010. I remember when Cam Newton led this franchise out of the doldrums and eventually went back to a Super Bowl. All of that support for this team ends now. I'm not watching or supporting this team until Tepper no longer owns the team. There's no reason to follow this team or Charlotte FC over any other team in the state. The Hornets have some young exciting pieces, the Canes are a perennial contender looking to get back to a Cup final, the Checkers just had an outdoor game, the Knights and Bulls are fun to watch in AAA, and there's been rumblings about a potential MLB team in the state. Quite simply, no one needs to care about anything Tepper does here. I only hope it convinces him to sell up to someone that cares, but knowing him, he'll probably look for an excuse to move the team to a city that is willing to put up with his bullshit and take Charlotte FC with him.
The main problem is that Tepper is trying the same approach he has ever known: the capital markets approach. Unfortunately, sports aren’t don’t necessarily translate the same methods well, and he is losing it because he knows that. He is very much a value (even deep-value) investor, which is why he thought he could get by with some no-names and thinking they could be undervalued (like Billy Beane). He cannot properly value assets. So he decided to switch up and splurge, on the hopes of a quick turnaround. He needs to wisen up quick
I went down to Charlotte over the summer to visit my Uncle for a few days. One of the activities we did was take a tour of the Historical Reed Gold Mine a few miles outside of the city. Both of us were in awe of the place and its history. However, one thing that it could use is better information signs detailing the different parts of the mine. They were getting old and a little hard to read. Jokingly, I mentioned "Maybe Tepper should chip in a few million dollars to renovate the place", to which my Uncle replied "There's no way Tepper's gonna fix this place. Heck, he can't even fix the Panthers". My response was "Geez, he even makes Dan Snyder look like a competent owner, and we all know how bad he was in Washington". I swear, my uncle laughed so hard I thought he was gonna have a couple of Charlie horses. That told me what kind of a shitstain Tepper is to the NFL: he has now succeeded Snyder as an arrogant know-it-all who pretends to be a Greek God while simultaneously turning his back to the city of Charlotte and its people.
Charlotte is just an Abyss for sports. We all just saw the shit show that is the Panthers but the Charlotte FC isn’t great. Hell the Knights couldn’t even crack 10 wins in a baseball season. Even the college team is the laughing stock of D1 football. At least the Hornets look competent on occasion. Thank god the Hurricanes play in Raleigh

Let us not forget that the Panthers had QB Baker Mayfield playing scout team, hand-in-the-dirt DE while he was there. How do you even come to these decisions
Someone had to fill in the role that Dan Snyder left when he sold Washington. And he's speedrunning that gloriously. P.S: I bet you Tepper is seething seeeing CMC thrive in San Francisco, and is staying healthy for a Super Bowl contender. But it's a C- trade right ESPN?
Then, he passes on CJ Stroud for Bryce Young and is still getting the same futility as before. Yep, Tepper's turning the Panthers from a once Super Bowl Contender to being a clown act. Worst part is that he's not taking accountability for his poor decisions.
5:34 and it sure does help when the team that drafted you also gained more draft capital from a player, they had no intentions of ever playing with ever again in Deshaun Watson. All the Panthers traded away assets, the Texans gained assets to help their young franchise quarterback. It definitely helps having an all pro left tackle there as well in Houston.
I came back after he confronted a restaurant about a sign that read “Let the COACH and GM pick.” He even grabbed a guy’s hat off of his head. That’s the second he’s been caught assaulting someone. Even Dan Snyder wasn’t this fucking stupid
Tepper moving training camp out of Spartanburg, SC (my hometown, not a Panthers fan though) really shows how much he cares about the Carolinas. He has screwed over both North and South Carolina since he becomes the owner. The extra tourism that Spartanburg gets from Panthers Training Camp helps us. Wofford College has hosted training camp since the Panthers’ inception. It’s just sad. Not to mention Rock Hill getting screwed over as well.
I mean yea they were trash in that game The memory I'll always have if that game is cam just standing like a fucking NPC while Von Miller recovers a fumble Idfk what anyone says YOU FUCKING DIVE ON THE BALL in that situation Bu but but he could have got injuried Bitch this is a superbowl you gotta take these risks this was a 4th quarter omfg
Great video. You failed to mention a couple of other points about how awful Tepper has been for my city. He made a whole scene about how he is going to relocate the Panthers practice facility, basically their HQ, and include the Charlotte FC with their new facility. This is fine because BoA is fairly old even with the upgrades they've made over the years. However, the project was pulled out. The Panthers (David Tepper) paused all construction and abandoned everything in nearby Rock Hill, SC. There is a $20M lawsuit. Charlotte is a massive city. Arguably one of the largest in the southeast and banking hub. I'm one of the few who grew up here. I, and several of my close friends, would gladly like to see this franchise move or relocate if it meant that David Tepper was out of town.
I mentioned Rock Hill, SC in the previous vid. That was just a shitshow and a half with no return. Eastland was a strange situation. Too many grey areas to properly assess if it was his or the city's fault.
When he let Wilkes walk I knew Tepper was out of his element. You simply don’t get rid of a coach who has the players playing above their ability. Tepper is an idiot and has shown us that time and time again. I don’t see much of a bright future with this man at the helm.
The long-awaited sequel to Rhules of Engagement, I see. As a Texans fan, I'm glad the NFC South somehow manages to be even more of a clownshow than the AFCS.
Imagine an organization being more incompetent than the freaking Hornets... I feel bad for Charlotte. The most successful organization they have is a minor league team: The Checkers. Hell, I would argue that the trash Charlotte Knights are better run than the Hornets and Panthers.
I feel bad for Bryce Young. I think he has a lot of potential but won’t be able to show it due to the team being ran by the most incompetent owner in the league
Worst passer rating in the League this year, edging out Zach Wilson and the burnt husk of Mac Jones. If he doesn't develop, dude might go down as one of the biggest busts ever considering the haul Carolina gave up for him, and it's entirely the team's fault for being such a clownshow. Fucking brutal.
As a Bears fan, I can't thank you enough, David Tepper. Not only did you let us fleece your team, you somehow make the McCaskeys look like competent owners
From the football side of things the Panthers are a relatively easy fix. Young is going to be a great QB. My fear is it won't be with Carolina. He's just like Drew Brees, and I think if Tepper is still around we're his San Diego.
I'm a die hard Panthers fan and I can say without a doubt that was the worst season they ever had. The current state of the team on and off the field is so painful to watch. It makes me sad every day...
In before Tepper sees this video the next time he wants a self-gratifying evening with lotion and a box of Kleenex while Googling himself and makes Tree disappear like Hoffa. We'll miss you.
The biggest thing for me is the trade. They trade away DJ Moore a guy who they had already paid, over Brian Burns, who just had his worst season since his rookie year, and now refuse to pay him. Its baffling especially when your investing the pick into a QB
Panthers/CLTFC fan here. Since Tepper bought the team I was hoping that each move made was a coherent step toward something bigger, even if the move didn't pan out. Moving on from Riverboat Ron, Cam, Olsen, etc, hiring Rhule, trading for Darnold/Mayfield, not hiring Wilkes full-time, etc. I even thought Fitterer might have made a decent move going for Bryce, though the price was pretty steep. And that's just on the Panthers side. CLTFC has been as much of a carousel of chaos. This season finally snapped me out of it. Tepper has no vision, no plan, and no clue. For christsakes our top rusher was drafted because his wife thought he was a good choice. I think we all knew the 2015 team was going to break up eventually. But what it's become is a farce. You articulated the frustration of being a Charlotte sports fan as if you were a local, Tree. Thank you for the wise shit posting! Oh well, at least UNC and Duke are in the Top 10... 😂
Idk how im only seeing these vids now… well unfortunately i kinda do lol. Ty for being the only one w what seems to be the courage to trash tepper for all this. We are 31-70 since his ownership in 2018. Our last winning season was 2017
David Tepper isn’t even the first bad owner in Charlotte pro sports history, also see Michael Jordan (owner of the Bobcats/Hornets) and George Shinn (old owner of the original Hornets)
For as long as Tepper is here, I've fully checked out of this team and I expect about everyone else in the Carolinas to do the same. Hard to support a team with the next coming of Dan Snyder at the helm. Save me Carolina Hurricanes ... Carolina Hurricanes ... Carolina Hurricanes save me ...
Agreed. But the sad part is that we have to support them just enough so we can keep the Panthers here. I wouldn't be surprised if Tepper takes them out from under our noses and moves them to St Louis or Oakland. Also, it's weird to think about how the instant the Panthers started going to shit, the Hurricanes turned their ship around and became a top contender in the league. I guess it helps that the Canes got acquired by a good owner who decided to hire a beloved and well respected individual within the organization to be head coach. Funny how that works out. The players bought into Rod (helps when you have Justin Williams and Jordan Staal vouching for him). Likewise, the players bought into Wilks, but Tepper was too prideful to understand that.
@@troybaxter good ownership can do wonders for a team, man. That's exactly what happened with the Hurricanes and I couldn't be more grateful for it. At least there's one fairly successful pro sports franchise in the Carolinas that's fun to watch, and I wish the same could be said for the Panthers. I would love to support them, and I still try to buy into them as much as I possibly can, but Tepper makes it so unbelievably hard. It's hard to root for a team that's getting driven into the ground as much as the Panthers are, and it sucks so much because there's definitely so many football fans here that would love to show out for the team if not for Tepper. I fear for how long this will last ...
Theres nothing more rough than being a panthers fan in texas having to deal w not only arrogant cowboys fans but now texans fans too to remind me of stroud
The worst part of this epic tale of incompetence is that Tepper could have walked into his new office, put down his briefcase and have done absolutely nothing and the Panthers would be a middling franchise instead of a raging barrel burn. I think what is shocking to most people is that Tepper was brilliant enough to get filthy rich but to stupid to keep his hands out of the machinery that he knew nothing about. After all his epic mistakes, we Panthers fans hear CRICKETS. My prediction is that he will own this team for decades, and the Panthers will be a permanent laughing stock. And we thought that carpetbaggers were a relic of the War Between the States.
I think I said on that video last year that Tepper was the new Dan Snyder. Now I think he's speedrunning Snyder's tenure. How soon until the scandals and the name change? EDIT: Just checked, and yup, I did say he was the new Dan Snyder.
As a Panthers fan since the very beginning, the defection part of this video really hit home. I've been looking for another team to root for since Frank Reich got fired (not to say the firing wasn't deserved, it absolutely was). I figured it wasn't gonna be great this year, but it was far worse than I could have ever imagined. Letting DJ go like that will forever live in infamy for me. This isn't worth the heartache. I'm done. Maybe I'll come back when the dysfunction ends (if it ever does), but until then, it's been real Panthers. 👋😥

He is literally wealthy trailer trash and, solely on the football wide of things, worse than Snyder imo when you consider that he has all of the same downsides Snyder did with the added perk of actively trying to destroy every single thing that made the team unique.

As someone South Florida, panthers hockey has been making up for the absolute choke job the dolphins pulled
Thanks for making this @urinatingtree
The nfl fans outside of Carolina need to know how drastic it is now here. He makes me nostalgic for Jerry Richardson openly
Every year he’s owned the team has been worse, even the field got downgraded to bad turf under him.

The second-year Panthers completely broke the Cowboys in 1997 and they’ve never recovered since. Tepper can’t even take that way from them.
@@smidge6532 Why should we be laughing at the Lions? They are a good team. They aren't the laughingstock they once were.
David Tepper is falling for the same trap so many owners have fallen into. Because they’re the owner they feel like it’s their show but they don’t let their football guys make the football decisions. And this is what you have. It’s crazy how everybody but him sees it

Tepper said he wanted to run the Panthers like a hedge fund, that tracks
If the fucking Hornets are not only a better owned team, but also a better preforming team delete your franchise now.
Charlotte is just an Abyss for sports. We all just saw the shit show that is the Panthers but the Charlotte FC isn’t great. Hell the Knights couldn’t even crack 10 wins in a baseball season.

I feel bad for Bryce Young. I think he has a lot of potential but won’t be able to show it due to the team being ran by the most incompetent owner in the league
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that the Panthers may have already ruined Bryce Young’s career.

As a rival fan please, don’t sell Mr. Tepper. Your desperation is hilarious to the rest of the NFC South.

I will add that the Texans scheme is actually quite good, it’s SF’s scheme and they’re a top 10 offense in football.
Didn’t expect to see another Panthers vid so soon. The Panthers can now join the Calgary Flames for teams that are certified circuses.
The worst part of this epic tale of incompetence is that Tepper could have walked into his new office, put down his briefcase and have done absolutely nothing and the Panthers would be a middling franchise instead of a raging barrel burn.
