The "Magnetic Grenade" is a magnetic mine, so generally it's placed directly on the armor, not thrown. That's likely why the soldier kept trying to get really close.
I love building defences but i still miss some other type of builds like Mortar pits and MG bunkers!. I do hope they add more defences then only trenches..

Thanks for the video! I have been keeping this game on my watch list for a very long time, being a long-time fan of this style of game.
I was unaware it was anywhere near being playable, so I'm looking forward to watching this video.
Be interesting to see other nations added. The Italians really didn't do well but then their tanks weren't great. In fact their armoredcars were in general better armored. Which implies a mobile doctrine that they neve applied. Likely because their heart wasn't in fighting a offencive war on what was a then modern battlefield.
The italians had a mobile doctrine (forgot the name rn)
They had light tanks, tankettes and armoured cars for two reasons mainly
First, the italian borders are the Alps (if you don't count the coastline), and all heavy vehicles will have problems crossing those
Second, the italian planned to fight against "inferior enemies", like Ethiopia, that had no tanks
If the enemy has no tanks, and you have some (even if they are not good), your tanks will still win (hopefully)
Also, the italians planned to use them in Africa, and that means very hard logistics, both sea logistics (small tanks are better because they occupy less space on ships) and "sand logistics" (heavy tanks tend to consume more fuel than lighter counterparts)
I also guess that the italians relied a lot on infantry based AT guns (like the 47/32 Mod 1935) rather than vehicle based firepower (just like most other nations did in the years before the war)
The gun was good (not great), but in low numbers
Also, italian industry was very behind, and adding better vehicles would crash the logistics
if you can't already supply your, for example, 100 tankettes, do you think you can supply your 100 tankettes AND 20 medium tanks? Also, can you even produce those tanks? Do you have the resources to do that? Do you have the industrial capabilities to do so? Do you even have the need to have better tanks?
Yes, the L3 performed awfully against T-26s in Spain, but was the L3 designed to hunt tanks? no, it was designed to help the infantry
the italians learnt that they needed something to hunt tanks, that had the 47/32 (that in spain performed wonderfully, good accuracy and good penetration) with the mobility of the L3 tankette
What do you get? the M13/40 (that, in fact, had the design started in 1937, the years of the spanish civil war)
Keep in mind that in 1940 Germany was still using Pz1s and Pz2s, so light tanks are still a good option, especially for "colonial warfare"
Also, tanks take time to develop, and from the first encounter with "too big to handle tanks" (like the british Matilda) and the invasion of Sicily, not enough time passed for italy in order to develop, test and produce a tank that could compete with the aforementioned tank
Besides, you can always use SPGs, that are cheaper and mount heavier guns
That's what the Semovente 75/18 (started dev. 1938, entered service 1941) was for, and later the Semovente 90/53, that did not see mass production

Their heart wasn’t in the war as they were not fighting ill equipped tribes like they did in what is modern day Somali. They were mostly shit fighters in general, their 240,000 army in North Africa was beaten by an army not even 40’000 strong. Saying that their navy was huge and more modern than the British and French navies, but just badly led.
It istrue that 5hey did go after Ethiopia and had major problems even then. I never looked into why exactly butkind of suspect that it was logistical.

Italian doctrine enfasized quick movements of small mobile forces... but the commanders moved the whole army ahead, and were able to advance just some kilometers before outpacing their logistics and settled down

When does this game come out?
I'm curious how the howitzers are supposed to work. As a gun bunny vet, I'm guessing the arty officer is either fire direction control increasing accuracy or he may act as a forward observer allowing the howitzers to fire at high angles. Either way, they acted more as AT during this game which made me cringe a bit. They are designed for indirect fire and perform quite poorly in direct fire compared to AT IRL.
As far as I'm aware by playing the game, it depends on the type of ammo loaded. HE rounds makes them act as they should, when you load AP the crew aims lower and tries to act as a AT gun. I guess it's a gameplay change to make them useful in case of a light vehicle rush, their aim is shit though haha

@@louierenault7344 It's very possible. The smaller cannons are much easier to depress (change to a lower elevation). My primary experience is working with the M777A2 firing 155mm's (and a bit of M119 105mm's), which takes a lot of effort to bring down from high firing angles, less so for the M119er. The M777A2 can fire in a 10m radius of accuracy up to 65 miles rocket assisted so every movement with the hand wheels are ultra sensitive compared to smaller systems meant to fire in smaller distances. An AT gun will never be at those higher angles and can reach the elevation and azimuth much much faster. For the M777A2, direct firing also employs a direct fire optic on the assistant gunner side (right side) which isn't used in indirect fire. It fires off of aiming circles in degraded mode (non GPS). An AT gun is purely direct fire. We did direct fire drills with our howitzers but it takes a hell of a lot of reconfiguration to bring the gun down for direct fire.

@@Lockbane haven't seen artillery officers. At least in my version which is the limited beta. Haven't seen it in the gameplay either, it's a single unit or you mean the "officer" in the crew of the gun.

Worst part of this game is the direct control. For the life of me I don’t understand they they waste their time with this. I really hope in rank games it’s disabled... please please disable it
this game is pissing me off,I order my units to attack and they just sit there...or Even worse, they just move into range of the enemy and get taken out without firing a shot...i have to micro manage the fuck out of everything.
Because this isn't an actual game, I spit on it. They wasted a great opportunity here.
