For all you people debating how the Quattroporte is pronounced- At the Geneva Motor Show 2014, the Chief executive of Maserati had a long speech to give about the brand Maserati. Amongst that he mentioned the Quattroporte a few times. He pronounced it exactly as the chap in this video has. So get your facts right people, and take it from the people who actually invented the car.
the thing i am worried about is reliability. I mean theres so many cars in this price range that have a known reliability attached their name. does maserati have this???
There's supposed to be a V8 version of the Ghibli coming out to go up against the M5, E63 and RS6/RS7. That one will be cool....and likely have damn near 700 horsepower too.
530 isn't enough to compete against the big dogs, which is probably why they haven't done that already. It'll be a new engine - regardless it'll need at least 600.
Common, I personally do agree that the Acura doesnt really fit in that segment,,, but the Lexus GS is really really luxury in the inside and sexy on the outside. The Gs350 delivers very good performance while the hybrid delivers both comfort and fuel economy. So I personally think that Lexus has done a pretty good job to compete in that segment
Well chief thats why they have twin/Bi-turbo one for low end power/torque and one or both keep cranking for that crazy ass high end power so it almost eliminates turbo lag and that feeling of having no balls on the low side of the tach
did anyone else watch the review from KBB on this exact car??? the dude in the other review HATED it basically...said the steering feel sucks, the seats were rock hard, the turbos were super laggy, etc etc...basically it must be opposite day. I cant believe how different the two reviews were. The guy from KBB though absolutely loved the underpowered fwd CLA though....so....
I have this Maserati. A 2016, $115,000 fully loaded vehicle for about a year now. It's the best car that I have ever driven, hands down. I'm having the engine tweaked to 475 HP very soon. The only problem I'm having with it, is that it's a cop magnet. I've been stopped 9 times in two months. The sound attracts them as well as the speed.
THE SOOTHSAYER but a cop cant pull you over for no reason, I am curious as to what their excuses for stopping you were exactly? Did they stop you for like 5 over?
Haaaa! speeding? Doing 48 coming off the highway to a 35 mile/hr sideramp... Pedestrian in crosswalk that wasn't there. Not signaling going around a disabled car.
Romatica Blue.... with red calipers, full brown leather interior. It just makes too much noise.... sounds like a truck in sports and manual mode. It turns heads....especially the cops heads.
Oh okay. I had no idea. Just strange that now they decided to Chrysler - ize it. I've always loved Maserati but it makes me a bit disappointed that they did this. Took a lot of the quirky things away.
Yes I definitely agree, a Maserati was always a special car, but in their efforts to make it more affordable or accessible to the market, they kind of down graded. Maybach had the same decision to make, but they went the other way, and continued with their previous standards and didn't cut corners, but we all know what happened there
No...it would kill the brand and lessen the value of their other cars. They should stop with this because if they go under 60k it will hurt their image.
Sorry but "coo-pay" is the European pronunciation. In America, we say "coop". You're right about "quatro-por-tay" though. At least he didn't say "jee-blee".
Sorry Gwynne66 but Coupé is a French word, so there is only one way to pronounce It correctly and it's not the American, Japanese or the "European pronunciation", whatever that means. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupé 'Coop' is only one letter away from poop. It's crass and plain embarrassing.
Beno Saradzic There is only one correct way to pronounce the word... *in French*. I don't speak French. I speak American English and in American English, the word is pronounced "coop". The Brits do the same thing with their version of the language. They call a gentleman's personal gentleman a "VA-let", not a "va-LAY". They call a cut of meat with the bones removed a "FILL-et" not a "fill-LAY". Do you also expect me to pronounce the name of the country to the south of the US "MEH-hee-co" instead of "mex-ih-co"?
It's only 100 lbs. lighter because it's AWD and uhh....I'm grasping for straws here......uh....I should have rehearsed.....uh a nice interior LOLOLOL It's probably 404 hp and 410 CV(PS) using my context clues.
this motor is puttin' out about 404-410 horsepower depending on what you read... this motor is puttin' out about 404-410... this motor is puttin' out... this motor... motor....
Thats stupid thing to say. The X Type was Ford Contour (or whatever) with a Jag body. The Ghibli has a 410hp Ferrari powertrain built in Maranello and your $30k economy car had a steam engine bolted together in Detroit #calmdown
Ever realized who owns Masarati, its Fiat the same people who make all the Chrysler product, if you do your research you will see that there are parts directly out of the dodge caravan in that Ghibli.
"Take a look at this engine because it's mighty pretty" - Are you kidding me? It's covered with plastic. I doubt any persons integrity who says stupid shit like that.
Then, in your opinion, what is wrong with a V6? (besides the obvious that many dull American cars of late share the same number of cylinders and "V" orientation)
There's nothing inside that car to warrant paying $76,000 especially when it comes with a V-6 engine. Neither the XTS V-sport or Lincoln MKS eco-boost cost anywhere near that and both of those cars give you more interior space and better interiors.
I just purchased the 2016 SQ4 a few days ago... It's fantastic, luxurious, and amazingly fast! LOVE IT!
In terms of style, design, sound and pure automobile passion this blows away every German car
Love your review. Honest, informative, some heritage and practicality. Well served.
Beautiful engine, and I'm lovin' the double hood latches! I could do without the portholes on the sides, but this car is great!
Excellent review! Beautiful machine! Cannot wait to drive one!

Looks very similar to the Infiniti M/Q70. Surprised you made no mention of that in this video.
the thing i am worried about is reliability. I mean theres so many cars in this price range that have a known reliability attached their name. does maserati have this???
Worlds first positive Maserati review
I would like to test drive. What about manual drive. I know it's a luxury car but manuals are now sort of exclusive in this range.
in tampa they are offering them for $659 a month, $5000 down, impeccable deal!
That was a great review - logical, sequential and complete. Thank you.
Love this car

700 BHP? Nothing wrong with your fantasy i suppose, it'll probably be the V8 from the Quattroporte GTS, so that's around 530 if im correct.
530 isn't enough to compete against the big dogs, which is probably why they haven't done that already. It'll be a new engine - regardless it'll need at least 600.
Love that car!

Good point.
In fact, I'm a huge fan of the new GS. Especially in F-Sport guise.
Great video! Thanks. Where was the location of the test drive? Was it in Jersey?
Since when does New Jersey have deserts? Lmfao
Beautiful car!
Well chief thats why they have twin/Bi-turbo one for low end power/torque and one or both keep cranking for that crazy ass high end power so it almost eliminates turbo lag and that feeling of having no balls on the low side of the tach
You forgot to mention the Jaguar XF when you speak of competitors.
Great review thank you!
didn't I just see this guy on autobytel reviewing this car?
did anyone else watch the review from KBB on this exact car??? the dude in the other review HATED it basically...said the steering feel sucks, the seats were rock hard, the turbos were super laggy, etc etc...basically it must be opposite day. holy shit. Dont tell me your Ghibli is red too to top this whole thing off?
Romatica Blue.... with red calipers, full brown leather interior. It just makes too much noise.... sounds like a truck in sports and manual mode. It turns heads....especially the cops heads.
Almost bought one, checked insurance at the last minute. $420 a month..
love it
Paul Bunion drives a Maserati. You're a farmer.
woooowww fanatstic elegance car
These Maserati ads are getting on my nerves
Great car a review. I subed.
Man I'm in luv
What's with the fact that there are parts from a dodge in there?
not dodge, technically chrysler, but if you're going down that road you could also say that it caries Ferrari parts.
No I totally agree. Did Fiat always have shares with Maserati, or is this something new? Since Fiat owns Chrysler.
I'll have to check the exact dates but I believe Fiat has had ownership over the brand twice in its history
Oh okay. I had no idea. Just strange that now they decided to Chrysler - ize it. I've always loved Maserati but it makes me a bit disappointed that they did this. Took a lot of the quirky things away.

If this does sell well, Maserati should think long and hard about making a 3 series fighter.
No...it would kill the brand and lessen the value of their other cars. They should stop with this because if they go under 60k it will hurt their image.
Looks a lot like the new Infiniti M. Fortunately, it's unique enough to be attractive despite the price.
In person this car has a presence that sets it way apart from any infiniti.
I will check one out when I can.
"coop", lol. Buddy, it really is coup-EH, trust me. Don't even get me started on Quatroport FFS. QUATTRO-PORT-EH!
Sorry but "coo-pay" is the European pronunciation. In America, we say "coop". You're right about "quatro-por-tay" though.
At least he didn't say "jee-blee".

Beno Saradzic It says right in the link you gave that there are two pronunciations.

Gwynne66 Gwynn for the win.
QuatroportEEEEEE for goodness sake sir!
+1000
In Italian it is pronounced QuatroportEH. In Italian the letter is pronounced "eh" not "ee"
Exactly, "how it drives is most important," yet you spend 6 out of 8 minutes talking and not driving. I can read the specs myself...
Looks like it got the same lines as Mazda new 6.... Not a bad thing though...Lol.
This review makes me want to sleep!
It's only 100 lbs. lighter because it's AWD and uhh....I'm grasping for straws here......uh....I should have rehearsed.....uh a nice interior LOLOLOL

Quatroport... Quatroport.... i stopped the review because of that.
Yeap
This shit will become the next Jaguar X-Type ( A total piece of shit! ) I use to own one sadly!
Thats stupid thing to say. The X Type was Ford Contour (or whatever) with a Jag body. The Ghibli has a 410hp Ferrari powertrain built in Maranello and your $30k economy car had a steam engine bolted together in Detroit #calmdown

QUATTROPORTE - quattro four - porte doors
Back looks like a Camry. Rather get an M3
All I hear is the word segment!!!
The rear looks like a fking kia
Is too hard to pronounce maseraTi. "T" is not a "D", T like Tank
It's sad when a $76,000 car wears a "V6" badge with pride.
That V6, mind you, is produced by Ferrari and has two turbos accompanying it.
Am I supposed to be impressed???
I don't care if that V6 was made by Bugatti and had 4 turbos attached.
Well, then you may be disgusted to hear that the Quattroporte can be had with the same V6, and that is $100K+.
The rear looks so basic like a Toyota
No
What the hell is this beard with no mustache look lately? Goofy.
Big fans of Abe Lincoln?
Its ugly with a horrible name with Chrysler parts
i really don't like the rear
What??? The rear is the best. It looks like a better version of Ferrari 612
