Damn!! Thanks yo. Im an outdated automechanic and truck driver. This is easier than car brakes.. just bigger and heavier. I will say 1 thing tho. Brake on a Mercedes benz (i had a big S class) were prolly the easiest in the world lol
Hi brother thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom appreciated. Can I please know what is that adapter called for air gun when you pushed out barrel ?
Man watching you mushroom the anchor pin before heating them was killing me and having you check s cam play with the brake chamber applied was another and the mack book recommends putting the shoe on the anchor pin first and using the tool to put the roller pin spring on
Personally I feel every time the shoes are replaced. Usually they both worn together, so why not start fresh. If one wants to reuse, check the inside specifications of the minimum when considered out of specifications.
I put my truck in shop yesterday to replace steer brakes and drums , after I get my truck and take it on the road I noticed my truck is shaking around 50to70 mph , I m not sure what it is but It was smooth before the brake job, could it be a bad drums
Check your radial runout on your front tires...sounds like those are out of round. everytime you pull front tires off, you have to make sure they are within spec as far as radial runout goes...
Te felicito por tu canal auque no domino el inglés me gustaria que en esta video midieras las toletancia del tambor y el torque que llevan las tuercas de los birlos espo no incomodarte con mi comentario
Why? Supplying air to the chamber would do the same. There are only two reasons to cage the brake chamber. 1. To allow a truck with a failed chamber to make it back to a shop. 2. To install a piggy back. You will still have to adjust the slack adjuster once you install new brakes anyways.
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY I have no clue what they are called the difference to me is the spring instead of the side like you showed they go on the ends not sure if it’s a older style.
Hello, you can see in 5:31 that the roller got got wider when we hammered it, so we just grinned the edges for the roller to come out easier, (that juslt in case the rollers dont come off easy, thanks for watching!!
Nah only if they are cracked or grooved out to bad. We usually run them 2 sets pads per drum but sometimes have to change them even after the first set. There are specs for all of this tools to measure it.
sooo simple.. less complicated than a passenger car rear drum brake. How about the trailer drum brake? Are they all the same? How do you know what model you need to order for the trailer? lol sorry, lame question.
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY i always wonder that you would need the year and make model for each trailer. But i’m sure the back trailer brake doesn’t wear out fast as on the tractor. thx
Bro you're out here turning me into a full blown truck mechanic lol
Nice! Hopefully it will help you on the road, thanks for watching sir 🙏
Sameee 😂😂 comienzo mañana
😂😆👍🏽
the up close shots and using the names of the parts and tool reccomendations really help and set this channel apart from most others
Put anti seize on those anchor pins, helps the next guy out 😁
A must I always use it
I watched several vids on break jobs. Yours was by far the best
Thank you, really appreciate it 🙏
My kind of video. No nonsense and straight to the point. Gracias.
I’m gonna do my own front brakes on my truck.. hopefully it goes well. Thanks for sharing brother 🤙
It's that easy 🤯
A car rear drums is more difficult then that..
Yes its easy, hopefully its helps you, thanks for watching sir 🙏
Damn!! Thanks yo. Im an outdated automechanic and truck driver.

I have a 1979 Mercedes 300D sedan, the brakes are 2 small cards, 2 pins, slide out, put new ones in, replace pins, dunzo!!
Keep making them videos, future owner op here. Planning to buy my first truck..
Assembly of the shoes is very satisfying.
Reminds me of the times i had to do brake drums all day. Thanks for refreshing my memory on this. Keep up the great videos 👍

What was the problem with the used shoes? They looked as good as the new ones.
EXCELLENT,. PERFECT GOOD JOB PRIMO.
Hi brother thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom appreciated. Can I please know what is that adapter called for air gun when you pushed out barrel ?
Some anti seize lube works great to not have to heat up to cut anything out. But not everyone used
Man watching you mushroom the anchor pin before heating them was killing me and having you check s cam play with the brake chamber applied was another and the mack book recommends putting the shoe on the anchor pin first and using the tool to put the roller pin spring on
The 2 dislikes are the people who own shops😂
😆 lol

Boa noite daqui de Portugal gostei do seu vídeo parabéns muito profissional obrigado Hélder Henoch
how long do u think or estimate time should be change again?
❤❤❤ always great videos 😢😢😢❤❤❤❤
Exelente canal
Michas gracias!!
Thank you ☺️.. Good Video!!
Very useful video. Thank you!
This is impressive
What was the mileage on this truck and how long does your lining last?
As a heavy duty tech, I’ve seen them last for 1-3 years but it all depends on the driver and how heavy they load
It’s ok change new brake shoes, but use old brushing ?
Hollowed ended press, 10 seconds you can press them out. I did it today. lol
What is that adapter you using on the air hammer ?
I gonna use the vase grip now
Great video
Thanks for watching sir 🙏
Sale con esta clase ya le puedo cambiar las brakes a mi Silverado 🤔
How often do u change the drums?
Personally I feel every time the shoes are replaced. Usually they both worn together, so why not start fresh. If one wants to reuse, check the inside specifications of the minimum when considered out of specifications.
Good job thair fellers
They make a tool that goes on the air hammer that knocks them bushings out.
Good job !!!
Where can I buy that air hammer?
Awsome video
Great video ....thank you
thank you!!
Great video 👍👍👍👍
Thanks bro
Good job👍
thank you sir!!!
Where i am from some time we have to break them in half because de to sease
hammer
shouldn't you replace the drum also?
hello, it is better if you replace drum and brake shoes, but if the drums are still good you can reuse them, if they're not warped or too worn out
Nice 👍
You make look too easy 😅but good video thank you.

Well damn. That does look like an easier way...

"now we're gonna call an air strike on this pin, cause it didn't want to come out"
Thank Bro. 🙏🤓
Thanks for the info
Thank you for watching sir appreciate it 🙏
Thank you so much 👌👍👍👍👍
Never seen an air hammer before that was cool As fuk.
Thanks
Good job
Thank you sir!!
Good sir
It's usually a good move to just cage the chamber instead of messing with the slack adjuster
Why? Supplying air to the chamber would do the same. There are only two reasons to cage the brake chamber. 1. To allow a truck with a failed chamber to make it back to a shop. 2. To install a piggy back. You will still have to adjust the slack adjuster once you install new brakes anyways.
It takes 10 seconds to back off the slack adjuster...
Sometimes you gotta do both. On badly scored drums that's the only way to get it off.
6:13 là ok
What shoes are you using 4707 or 4709
They look like 4707 shoes. 4709 has a different style roller pin spri g i believe
Yea they r 4707 cuz they have red lining nd 4709 have blue lining
How can I remove the pin i put it on the wrong side?
Just hit it with a hamer, pin wont bend
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY thanks I eventually figured that out thank you
Thank you excellent video.
thank you sir!!
Do the other style of brakes mine are different same idea though
What kind do you have?
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY I have no clue what they are called the difference to me is the spring instead of the side like you showed they go on the ends not sure if it’s a older style.
Great one, thank you. Do u know how much gap should be between break shoes and the drum?
hello, im not exactly sure, some adjusters require half a turn others 1/4 turn (counter clock)
Thank you
It depends on what dot enforces and how big the hills are
Thank you , great job!
thank you sir
And never seize the shit out of all pivot points
Why did u have to grind it?
Hello, you can see in 5:31 that the roller got got wider when we hammered it, so we just grinned the edges for the roller to come out easier, (that juslt in case the rollers dont come off easy, thanks for watching!!
Ok is that faster then using anchor pin remover?
Anchor pin press is easier and you can change bushings with them also
Bro you need to put new drums every time you replace the brake shoe !!!
Not really!! But its always better to do
Nah only if they are cracked or grooved out to bad. We usually run them 2 sets pads per drum but sometimes have to change them even after the first set. There are specs for all of this tools to measure it.
👍👍💪
Job it’s not complete it’s the brake box bring bushings and rollers you have to change everything !!!
I explained that in the video
Судя по накладкам барабанам кирдык! Или 2 ремонт накладок надо
Не чего сложного!
sooo simple.. less complicated than a passenger car rear drum brake. How about the trailer drum brake? Are they all the same? How do you know what model you need to order for the trailer? lol sorry, lame question.
hello, the drum and brake shoes have a part number on the side, you also need to take the old parts to the store(core) they will know what to give you
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY i always wonder that you would need the year and make model for each trailer. But i’m sure the back trailer brake doesn’t wear out fast as on the tractor. thx
yes they can also find the parts with year and make
What year was the truck you worked on little buddy???
Its a 2013
foot brake ,pedal clucth ,clucth ,brake, cylider ,band ,asbesto ,brake ,front, new ,unhood
so why wouldn't you spend 30 dollars and buy a new seal and guarantee the job to be trouble free ! Frank T
1:15 hits drum but says “don’t hit metal”
Middle
Whats the part # oh those brake and drum
Im not sure, but at the deer with the vin they'll be able to look for it, thanks for watching sir 🙏
I think he got wide 4711 shoes and meritor special drums and I think drums are very expensive
