Fmr. Lt. Gen. Twitty: ‘If Ukraine loses this war, you might as well say the U.S. lost the war’

- In a news conference with journalists and the Russian people, Putin seemed emboldened by congressional infighting in Washington and as certain as ever about Russian victory in Ukraine. Keir Simmons and Lt. Gen. Stephen Twitty join Andrea Mitchell to discuss key takeaways from Putin’s address. “They face a Russian force now of 600,000 soldiers that are highly equipped, that they're gonna have to go against. And so, in my view, if they do not get the funding they will not be able to succeed in this fight,” says Gen. Twitty. “If Ukraine loses this war, you might as well say the U.S. lost the war, NATO has lost this war, because remember, we backed Ukraine from the beginning in this war, NATO backed Ukraine from the beginning of this war, and if we abandon the Ukrainians, then we have lost just as much as the Ukranians have lost,” he adds.

Fmr. Lt. Gen. Twitty: ‘If Ukraine loses this war, you might as well say the U.S. lost the war’

And some people still say that this isn't a proxy war ...
All wars are by proxy
I know right, people are such naive dupes.
Yes, the real war is now being waged against Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran, tho Congress has NOT declared war on ANY of those nations. The US is 'defending' their ships that were put off the coast of Yemen in some misguided mission as the world maritime police force.
if you think the USA or Nato is too blame for the Ukraine war then you are so naive you are completely destined for failure so immense that people can't help but laugh when they see you sleeping on the curb.@@rettro6578
I invite you to Kyiv to check if it matters if it's a proxy war or not a proxy war. Check if proxy rockets or normal rockets makes a difference during a rocket attack. Proxy kamikaze drones or normal kamikaze drones during a drone attack. Keyboard warrior, it's easy to say things, but you can come to Kyiv or Kharkiv and see if your words make a difference in the real world.
After reading the title to this news story, when was the last time the US actually won a war?
The American Civil war
The US decisively won the first Gulf War in 1990 and the Kosovo War in 1998. Really the only wars the US has lost are ones in which they’ve attempted to occupy a population that was resistant to occupation. And even then, the US would succeed at completely shattering those governments and militaries but then fail at installing a new regime. I suspect it’s easier for an autocracy to brutalize an occupied population into submission.

Tends to be how investments work
"We’re also providing -- not as a gift. When I say providing it sounds like we’re providing a gift -- we’re also -- American venture capitalists and other foreign investment is flowing into the Russia’s economy to allow it to diversify beyond your abundant natural resources -- metals, oil and gas -- and help Russia -- Russian start-ups get their ideas to market."

Get Biden to talk without reading a script! That would be a treat!!!
This is hillarious as there are so many mistakes these reporters made in just 3 minutes (couldn't watch more). Like he made it look like the confidence Putin had during the conference only came from the fact that the western support for Ukraine was getting lower, when in fact he didn't care much about it, but was mostly speaking about the Russian military capabilities that were growing fast. Then he says Zelensky wants Russia to withdraw its troops back to the 2014 "internationally recognized borders", when in fact most countries didn't recognize the 2014 borders (Russia with Crimea) and Zelenksy keeps saying he wants the 1991 borders.
wouldn't be US's first losing a war.
So True, if Ukraine lose America lose and Russia win!
No. America is not at war with Russia😂
It'll be a hollow victory - because Putin is so old - probably dying (🤞) - won't get the full thrill he's seeking.

Avdiivka is indicative of where this is going.
The most success Ukraine can hope for is that Russia sits down to the table to negotiate a dividing up the Ukraine, which Zelensky already said that its out of the question. There's your dead end, 10 years and 500 billion dollars down the road, plus the additional half million civilians dead. Except that inflation in the US will bring down America sooner.

Platitudes are fun to watch when you start losing a war that was never yours but in true American fashion arrogance and entitlement made you think so. It only cost how much of Ukrainian blood?
If Ukraine loses against Russia it's because the US sold them out.
It's as simple as that.
What goads me the most it didn't
cost the US any troops just a little bit of money. 😮
The thing that worries me most is the stability for Europe and NATO as a whole in the future.
What I don't understand is why 50+ countries failing to defeat 1 Russian Federation..!!
Now USA needs to learn how to loose gracefully...!!! I guess....
Losing a war is NOT the end of the world.
The world is a big mess then ever before
lol not even close
Winning a war has nothing to do with how many battles you win. You can win every battle and lose the war. Wars are won and lost on TV and in bank accounts.
I disagree, WW1 was not won, the Allies pulled back too soon, and then messed up the peace. As a result, the whole thing had to have a re-run in WW2. This time the battle was really won in 1945. So it does matter. The only way to win the Ukrane battle is for the Russian economy to collapse from within and there to be a revolt at home, as happend in 1917. Russia is too big and it needs to be broken up into smaller nation states who would be reluctant to start a fight on their own and for them see that the better way is to build up a trading relationship with the outer world. Bank accounts help the winning side to win battles and to prevail.
How should it Look like ... Wenningstedt against Russia ?? Conquer all Sibiria ??

Meaning NATO lost in essence

The US has seen the almost total destruction of the once mighty Red Army for a tiny fraction of our defense budget, and, without the loss of a single American. I'd call that a bargain.
That tiny fraction of our over inflated budget could house every homeless person in America.
You know Russia is winning this war, right? Their army is far from “total destruction.”

As a Romanian who lives here, I will say this, we have lived under the BARBARIAN yoke more than once, from the Ottoman theocracy to the Austro-Hungarian, Holy Roman & Tzars Empires with their Imperialist agendas, to Hitler and Stalin's Empires of evil, we would rather die in battle, fighting to the bitter end, tooth and nail, we would rather go out in blaze go glory with nuclear hellfire then have to ever live like that ever again!
I just buried my grandfather, mother's side, this last August, 96 years, a WWII veteran, artillery & AA officer in the Romanian Army, he would often say, "We fought to defend our homeland/fatherland from barbarians, on all sides" but in the end, we were betrayed and sold out, we should have all died in nuclear hellfire that rather to live in these times, but saying that just makes me hate myself,
Before that on 2006, on 1 September, my birthday of all days, I buried my grandmother, mother's side, her father was a stormtrooper of the German Empire in WW I, one of the very few to survive and retire, he never talked about the war, but my grandmother, the youngest of his 4 kids, would often say he was a quiet, calm and nice person, he did not really believe in Gods or the divine but believed in the better things in life, he died in his rocking chair when the news of Polish Invasion by the Germans and Russians started, just died there, there is no grave for him, the communist destroyed several cemeteries, the mear mentioning of the words "trench warfare" or even hearing someone blow the trench whistle, makes my very bones stiff and blood run cold,
In 1996 I buried my grandfather on my father's side, he was an MG operator, who fought in the Eastern Front, before that he was a tanner and herder, he lost everything under communist rule, from his trade to his health,

Ineptly made decisions by the US not to arm the Ukrainians with modern tanks and fighter jets much earlier in the war has cost the initiative for Ukraine. This is a disaster of our own making. We would have been better to do nothing at all.
But we've already destroyed half the Russian army for 6% of the defense budget. Worth it on that alone, I'd say. It's not a disaster yet, though it could be if Congress doesn't smarten up.
This gives them huge incentives to retool and rebuild their factories for modern war time production which will only boost their economy and defensives for Russia.

The best thing for the " collective west" was a peaceful negotiation for these lost lives to end,but they urged them on to fight by supplying all sorts of weapons and money. " for as long as it takes," but they know very well this wasn't sustainable. Russian are fighting in their backyard and destroying anything that is sent out there. Now there reality is catching up with them
A "peaceful negotiation" with a dictator who thinks he can steal land from other countries at will is a bit of a euphemism.
If China invaded the US, forcing millions out of their homes and annexed the entire east coast because he felt like it belonged to the CCP now, would you be saying the "best thing" would be to have a "peaceful negotiation" (i.e. be a submissive little b*tch and let Xi Jinping steal entire states, begging him to promise not to steal more)?
No, obviously not. You can say "peaceful negotiation" when talking about a poor country losing territory to an aggressive dictator, but to Ukrainians, this is their home, and it is entirely unacceptable to allow Putin to force his will on them.

half of the money that goes to Ukraine. Are spent paying for people's salaries. While americas homeless have to sleep on the road.
This is not the matter of 'winning' for Russia. As President Putin said - it is about a conflict that has to be solved and in his opinion it can be done by de-nazifying and de-militarizing Ukraine. So the aim is a neutral Ukraine in which both Ukrainians and Russians can live in peace with oneanother..
