Fmr. Lt. Gen. Twitty: ‘If Ukraine loses this war, you might as well say the U.S. lost the war’

  • In a news conference with journalists and the Russian people, Putin seemed emboldened by congressional infighting in Washington and as certain as ever about Russian victory in Ukraine. Keir Simmons and Lt. Gen. Stephen Twitty join Andrea Mitchell to discuss key takeaways from Putin’s address. “They face a Russian force now of 600,000 soldiers that are highly equipped, that they're gonna have to go against. And so, in my view, if they do not get the funding they will not be able to succeed in this fight,” says Gen. Twitty. “If Ukraine loses this war, you might as well say the U.S. lost the war, NATO has lost this war, because remember, we backed Ukraine from the beginning in this war, NATO backed Ukraine from the beginning of this war, and if we abandon the Ukrainians, then we have lost just as much as the Ukranians have lost,” he adds.

Yes, the real war is now being waged against Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran, tho Congress has NOT declared war on ANY of those nations. The US is 'defending' their ships that were put off the coast of Yemen in some misguided mission as the world maritime police force.

I invite you to Kyiv to check if it matters if it's a proxy war or not a proxy war. Check if proxy rockets or normal rockets makes a difference during a rocket attack. Proxy kamikaze drones or normal kamikaze drones during a drone attack. Keyboard warrior, it's easy to say things, but you can come to Kyiv or Kharkiv and see if your words make a difference in the real world.

The US decisively won the first Gulf War in 1990 and the Kosovo War in 1998. Really the only wars the US has lost are ones in which they’ve attempted to occupy a population that was resistant to occupation. And even then, the US would succeed at completely shattering those governments and militaries but then fail at installing a new regime. I suspect it’s easier for an autocracy to brutalize an occupied population into submission.

Young adults who fled Ukraine at the start of the war are being forced back to fight. What is so terribly sad is that so many soldiers and civilians have lost their lives on both sides (though Ukraine has born the brunt) just because a cabal of US and NATO/EU know-it-alls thought they could defeat the Great Bear. Germany thought the same in WWII and how did it go for them? Ukraine never could defeat Russia despite assurances from the West that they could. Trump 24 means if Trump keeps what he promises a split in the West and weakened the West and the US out of NATO, no wonder that the two most popular Americans in Russia and the pro-Putin country Serbia are precisely Trump and Elon Musk. If this happens then the French president Macron will be right, he who claims that the US will betray Europe and that Europe must create its own joint military and become a military superpower, the consequence will be that American political influence in Europe in the future is over. The EU countries' pension funds are full of US shares that finance business in the US, Americans should not forget that.

This is hillarious as there are so many mistakes these reporters made in just 3 minutes (couldn't watch more). Like he made it look like the confidence Putin had during the conference only came from the fact that the western support for Ukraine was getting lower, when in fact he didn't care much about it, but was mostly speaking about the Russian military capabilities that were growing fast. Then he says Zelensky wants Russia to withdraw its troops back to the 2014 "internationally recognized borders", when in fact most countries didn't recognize the 2014 borders (Russia with Crimea) and Zelenksy keeps saying he wants the 1991 borders.

I disagree, WW1 was not won, the Allies pulled back too soon, and then messed up the peace. As a result, the whole thing had to have a re-run in WW2. This time the battle was really won in 1945. So it does matter. The only way to win the Ukrane battle is for the Russian economy to collapse from within and there to be a revolt at home, as happend in 1917. Russia is too big and it needs to be broken up into smaller nation states who would be reluctant to start a fight on their own and for them see that the better way is to build up a trading relationship with the outer world. Bank accounts help the winning side to win battles and to prevail.

As a Romanian who lives here, I will say this, we have lived under the BARBARIAN yoke more than once, from the Ottoman theocracy to the Austro-Hungarian, Holy Roman & Tzars Empires with their Imperialist agendas, to Hitler and Stalin's Empires of evil, we would rather die in battle, fighting to the bitter end, tooth and nail, we would rather go out in blaze go glory with nuclear hellfire then have to ever live like that ever again!
I just buried my grandfather, mother's side, this last August, 96 years, a WWII veteran, artillery & AA officer in the Romanian Army, he would often say, "We fought to defend our homeland/fatherland from barbarians, on all sides" but in the end, we were betrayed and sold out, we should have all died in nuclear hellfire that rather to live in these times, but saying that just makes me hate myself,
Before that on 2006, on 1 September, my birthday of all days, I buried my grandmother, mother's side, her father was a stormtrooper of the German Empire in WW I, one of the very few to survive and retire, he never talked about the war, but my grandmother, the youngest of his 4 kids, would often say he was a quiet, calm and nice person, he did not really believe in Gods or the divine but believed in the better things in life, he died in his rocking chair when the news of Polish Invasion by the Germans and Russians started, just died there, there is no grave for him, the communist destroyed several cemeteries, the mear mentioning of the words "trench warfare" or even hearing someone blow the trench whistle, makes my very bones stiff and blood run cold,
In 1996 I buried my grandfather on my father's side, he was an MG operator, who fought in the Eastern Front, before that he was a tanner and herder, he lost everything under communist rule, from his trade to his health,
Any nation has the civic right to defend itself from any and all forms of invasions,
If we allow another fascist regime to rise in Europe, we might as well nuke ourselves and save ourselves the pain of war, but suicide is the coward's way out, that is unless your riding a F14 or F18 into the Alien Mothership, that is heroic sacrifice,
The Ages of Empires, have come and gone, ROME is gone, Byzantium, France, England, Sweeden, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Austro-Hungary, the Ottomans, the Third Reich and the Russians/USSR, they are all gone, the ages of mad kings and crazed emperors, is gone, we should learn to do better than them, instead, it just keeps getting worse and worse,
Instead the cancer of their teachings permeates and rots the minds and souls, generations have been tainted,
Do I believe Ukraine will come out on top, yes, but to quote the German Cavalry Commander Adalbert von Bredow "it will cost what it will" during "Von Bredow's Death Ride" from the Franco-Prussian War, it will be bloody,
Reconstruction will take years, but what cannot be done is allow Russia more foothold, allow the barbarians more lands, they will stack you in the back,
We stand with our old brothers in arms Poland and Bulgaria along with the Baltics, Sweden, Finland with Ukraine in this war, I hope America, Canada, England, Hungary, Austria, Germany and the rest get their act straight because we all know we cannot allow another empire of evil to rise,
    NEVER AGAIN!
