- Last month, Donald Trump summoned top lobbyists and executives from the oil and gas industry to Mar-a-Lago and proceeded to solicit a $1 billion bribe, multiple outlets report. In exchange, he would basically roll back all climate regulations and let the industry run wild in his second term.

Read the Constitution of the United States. The conduct may not be legally disqualifying, but law and morality is not the same. You do not have to vote for a candidate who has a policy platform you disagree with and that has always been the case in a functioning democracy. An important question to ask is whether the oil companies would lower fuel prices if the regulations were changed. I'm guessing not, as that would hit their profits, but the American voters deserve to know.
U.S. oil companies have virtually no control over the price of fuel-the global price of oil does. Oil and gas are global commodities, subject to the whims of notoriously volatile global markets.
