A direct descent of the M Class that is widely credited for starting the luxury SUV segment (though I remember the Land Rover Range Rover being around) the GLE is the perfect glamping partner. An amazing car, to own new, or lease....my neighbor has one, bought it used....had to take a loan to pay for the repair of the air suspension...I’m not kidding, the bill was a little under 7,500! Holy cow. All this tech can be unbelievably expensive to repair...otherwise as always Tom, thanks for yet another great review! One million...here you come!

Maybe your main audience have relatively higher education level (typically appreciate great narrative) - this might explain why we love the way you review those cars. Unfortunately, there aren't many of us.

I wonder how many viewers the other guys have. Is there a review system for car reviewers such as yourself? I did have a look at some other reviewers. Not even close; they don't know how to explain things properly even on the rare occasion they know anything about the car in question. Most are very happy with themselves, I could go on. I'm sure your fans talk about you; so maybe some out there have a good idea to get you more 'clicks'. Bill Cunningham was the man for fashion photo reporting, you are the man for automotive reporting; no matter how many people see your reports!

2:00 Ah yes, it's mating season for this GLE.
Best feeling when I had the GLE (press car) was when I returned it and went back to my 2001 VW Caravelle: When you actually have to drive.
Here is tips on improvement: Just copy the guys with the most subscribers: Carwow, Supercar Blondie, Doug Demuro...
You could start with doing everything in the same order for each review (exterior design walkaround, interior design, quality feel, driving sensations, space in the back etc.) and putting timestamps so people can go to the parts they are most interested in.
Tom that was a fantastic showcase!! I’m not sure u do comparisons? I’m interested in this GLE and the 2021 Jaguar F-pace! I’d love to see a in-depth comparison! To help me decide which is best for me! I’m a seasoned Mercedes and BMW driver for 15 yrs. but the new Jaguar is the shit;)

And you need to use the USB-C close to the cup holders to sync CarPlay. The ones under the armrest does not support that sync.

Hey Tom, You’re right about 1MIL Subs. I make sure to click on a Driven Review by Tom as it comes up. You mention the Voice Assistant being stubborn and I am so surprised by this. My Impala with MYLINK Turns the Radio up, or dials a contact, without issue. Of course connecting to Android Auto makes it so I just speak without pushing any speech button and works really well. So if Chevy has it together you would think Mercedes would be miles ahead. And I am not comparing the two on everything they can do just understanding commands comparing.
Now the rich don't have to 'do it' The car will do it for them 😅
Great review Tom. On a sunny day, it looks like that large n’ wide LCD panel would reflect quite a bit. How did the over $5,000 upgraded stereo system sound? I imagine at 99k it had it 🤔

check it out the new lincoln aviator: a lot more space and standard 7 seats, 28 speakers revel hi-fi and 460 hp 800 lb ft plug in engine at a MORE COMPETITIVE price than this mercedes. No brainer here

Cannot afford it, but still interesting to see where technology is headed. All cars should move to the speedometer-instrument panel-media display as one continuous screen.

This car does have ventilated seats, as seen on the door panel at 13:20.

Seriously, though, when the price breaks the six figure barrier the vehicle is usually so laser focused on exclusivity or simple badge whoring that its difficult to determine where about 20% of the purchase price has gone. I have to admit that doesn't seem to be the case for the GLE450. Like they say about great summer movies, the cost is all up there on the screen. Nevertheless, even if I could convince myself to raid the kid's college fund to finance it, my wife would serve me with divorce papers if I tried.
Other than the bouncy house feature, I have zero interest in a $99,000 crossover. 48 volt hybrids seem to be entering the marketplace without fanfare. I thought it might generate more excitement.

Great review! I got a 2020 GLE 350 4-Matic May 2. My 6th ML/GLE since 2006. Love the new body, interior, electronics. But the car has been back to Mercedes twice for transmission issues. It redlines in D1 and I have to hit the accelerator repeatedly to get it to shift gears. As soon as i leave service dept, problem begins again. They say they don't have much experience with 2020 vehicle problems, so I'm not sure what happens next. Also the gas cap was defective and the left side AC vent stop throwing air. Again, because its a redesign, a week to get piece for AC vent. I probably should have waited for 450.

It’s impressive but seems like it is way overpriced in comparison to the BMW X5. We are talking about comparably equipped vehicles for $15k difference.

I’m kinda of sad to see Mercedes is adopting kind of a bubbly “rounded” look. It just looks odd but it the new interiors are amazing
Mercedes have made a lot of ugly, but great cars, this one looks kind of neutral, already a step above some of the things they've done.
X5 looks tons better and I take straight six of BMW over Mercedes new complex engine any day. And the Mercedes looks softish.

Drive them both and then decide. I don't recommend vehicles since I don't know you. And also, my lawyer says not to!

100k for this GLE. Wow. Just say pass and get a Grand Cherokee nicely loaded for 40-45k and pocket the change. I double guarantee the Mercedes depreciates faster and gives you more costly repairs. You are welcome.

Nice concept but Sadly Mercedes is a waste of 100k that has below-average reliability (7 recalls in 6months for the GLE, check NHTSA, from airbags, to breaks, to body structure, to electronics …etc) that’s just recalls. Check ConsumerReports or Mercedes blogs to see the number of issues.
Can’t justify paying Top dolor to a company that still doesn’t know how to perfect it’s car build and reliability!! …. So basically the car resale will drop tremendously, and keeping it running will cost me dearly!! I really wanted to like it but can’t ….. so maybe will start looking at Lexus or Genesis

I’m getting inundated with virtue signaling from Mercedes this month, on TH-cam and social media, and It’s a big turn off. I’m a contractor/businessman, and want people to do business with me because I have a great product at a fair price, and not because of my political/social leanings.

I just want to point out the effort that Voelk has put into this video, it is truly unique, not only does he include major shot variety but he also, gives the viewers an in depth history of the cars predecessors. where else do you see this, it is also clear that he enjoys his work which is always great to see. I am impressed by this newest Gen GLE (ML..cough)...I might be in the minority but I would rather have one of these loaded than E or S class....Just saying.
Great video as always Tom. Your videos calm me down on stressful days, with the beautiful cinematography and your calm narrating style. I really like the looks, especially on the outside, but I would prefer optional analogue gauges as well. Well crafted ones can be exquisite and look like an expensive watch or some other beauty to behold. Of course, it's much cheaper to slap a couple of tablet screens on the dash, especially when you can use them on all the models. Though, given the price of this vehicle, I wouldn't appreciate cost cutting too much.
