    Today we go over all the questions from the diver and planer deployment videos. Thanks for watching and I will continue to answer all your questions when they are posted.

    Please choose 1. lead core, copper, steel, i have room for 1 of the 3

      You’re asking for the impossible. All three are excellent. A ten color lead core or a 300 copper or steel will all pit fish in the boat. You’ll have to decide from there but you won’t go wrong with any of them.

    Late to the party but hoping I can still ask a couple of questions. First question: Does diver color matter? Second question: I currently have 4 down-riggers on my boat, would you still run 2 divers per side or just use 1 instead? Thanks for the videos! So glad I found these and I'm looking forward to watching more.

      I run all black Dreamweaver deeper divers. Some would argue with me that diver color matters, and I respect that. But for me black divers have always worked so I'm sticking with it.
      If you're confident and have the skills to run two divers per side then absolutely try it. Some days too many divers in the water shuts down your riggers and vice versa, so make sure to play around and find out what the fish want.

    Thanks for the great information as always! Question - If you’re running a 300 or 250 copper - can your divers run shallower than the 300/250 since those lines are so much further out than the divers?

    Can you use rubber bands on 19 wire hooked up to big plainer board lines?

    What do you see taking more fish, divers or copper/leadcore? Also, have you had the "snubber" debate on divers? I keep drag loose and it clicks while trolling but have no issue without snubs

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe in running a snubber (DW ripcord) just for the added peace of mind. Lead core and copper both have their days and both catch fish. I couldn't choose one over the other.

    When you’re running a high and a low diver how much line do you let out for each reel. Are both reels at the same and if so is there a better chance of tangle or should there be like 250 ft for deep and 200 ft for high diver? I’m experiencing some tangling when I’m getting fish on

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should be able to run them at the same amount of line being out. Make sure your high diver is set on three and the low is set on one.

    Chris, when you set up rod holders for two divers on each side; how far do you space your holders apart from each other?

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some boats run them right next to each other but mine are spaced out about 12 inches.

    What are the ratcheting rod holders you use for divers on your boat? I thought they were ratcheting but don't see them on big John's site.
    Thanks

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the video of rod holders you’re looking at, Chris’s rod holders are not on the Big Jon website yet. They do ratchet though, with no pull pin. Any video on Jim’s boat has the ratcheting holders with a pin. They’re not on the BJ site at the moment either.

    saw that you rigged a meat rig with a flasher to a dipsy diver,what is the proper length from flasher to dipsy and is using a 12lb test from pole to dipsy ok?? and use 30lb from dipsy to flasher??. new to trolling even though i'm setting my poles in a holder instead of down rigger, or point me to which site of yours gets to the novice troller

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ray Castillo Jr 12-20’ is average for dipsy to flasher. 12lb main line is extremely light. Absolute minimum of 30lb, preferably heavier like 50lb. Lots of tension on the line between the diver, rotator, and fish. 30lb is ok to use between the dipsy and flasher but we usually use heavier line here too. - Jim

    Recommended braided line weight for Dipsy Diver? I'm running 30# Power Pro, should I run 40 to 50? Benefits besides obviously more strength?

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d go #50 as long as you don’t have any issues with reel capacity.

    thanks for your videos! I know this is 4 months old but hope you'll see this question and be able to answer it. I noticed in your video about setting out downriggers and dipseys without tangling, you showed how to "re-deploy" a dipsey diver in the middle of your spread by moving an actively deployed dipsey over to the other side of the boat. While this works during the video with no rods deployed on the other side, wouldn't there ordinarily be lines in the water on the other side? thanks, look forward to some clarification. kind regards!

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great question Erik. They won’t be pulled into the other side’s rigs. If you notice I pull the low dipsy diver rod over to the other side. That dipsy diver will hardly be affected by me doing that. It will continue to track out and down exactly where it was. So you can perform this maneuver without worries of tangling up either sides lines.
      I’ll go over this on this Sunday on my next live fishing report. It’s a good question with and others may be wondering also.

      @@tangledtacklefishing thanks so much for the quick response! Glad to hear this would not interfere with the other side. I was visualizing a downrigger down about about 110 feet, a 30 foot lead and a little blow back... I was worried that the deep diver may cross that path. Its super helpful to know that's not the case! Seems like a very easy solution and avoids problems. I will no doubt use this. Thanks again!

    Hey Chris.
    Someone asked how long your leader from diver to flasher . You said you typically run 18 feet. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but, how are able to net a fish with roughly 20 feet from rod tip are you hand bombing the line in once the diver is in?
    Thanks Henry Schmidt

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. You got it. We hand line the fish in once we get to the diver. It’s a three person operation and takes some teamwork and experience.

    Would I still set my low diver on 1 1/2 when I have my extended arm DR out to the side of the boat or would I want to set up the low diver at 2?

    • @tangledtacklefishing
      @tangledtacklefishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure as long as your DR arm isn’t interfering with your rod tip. Your divers will plane out much farther than your DR cable.

      Randall Pink the biggest cause of tangles is turning too sharply. Slow your rate of turn.
