Nice anvil. Extraordinary talent on that saw. One thing I learned is to use a small round needle file to round the inside corners of the shoulders on the blade before installing the hilt. This will reduce the stress on that part of the blade making it less prone to snapping if used to pry etc. Nice job on that. You are a very talented individual for sure. Love watching all your creative ideas come to life.
Looks like Jimmy just made the knife his dad would not allow him to have , with the band he was allowed to have .i have a feeling this project has been on jimmies list since he was a kid making wood knives for Halloween like he showed us in band saw tips.. Beautiful work . Great vid thanks for sharing !
Your talent for making is amazing. Love watching you work because you inspire me to just go and try. As you have said several times you never mast anything just keep getting better every time you do or repeat a process. Seeing you in the shop reenforces this. You are one that practices what you preach.
When nobody showed you, how to use a bandsaw, you sometimes feel special in a bad way, when you "file and or grind" stuff with it...your videos make me so much more comfortable with myself :*
The handle reminds me of a K-Bar... and I like the double tap of your name-it makes me think it’s echoing somehow. Beautiful form and function. Thanks for sharing.

I have a sincere appreciation for the broad range of projects that you tackle. They highlight your broad skill set and craftsmanship fearlessness. I realize that you sped up the freehand bandsaw shaping buy still. Your rough cut freehand work here is remarkable 👍👍👍
Hello from Meadow Bridge, West Virginia. Love the video man. Awesome knife. I look forward to your videos and the Podcast with you, Dave, and Bob. Awesome y'all do. Keep up the good work.
@@TheTechnosasquatch yeah that's why I said "keep making".....the more he does it the more people recognize it as a theme, the more likely a big food channel might notice and might wanna collab....🍻
im waiting for a collab of jimmy with alecsteel to make the knife, followed by a burrito cooking episode with bingingwithbabish andrew rea and brad leone from bon appetit.
I found your channel recently. I enjoy all your build vids but my favorite are the few with narration because I learn more about the process. You have a knack for explaining things well. And you gotta pleasant tone!
For heat treating, the temp is raised until the steel is non-magnetic. I saw on your inst that it was still magnetic. At a guess I would say that is where the issue came from
Once again Incredible work Jimmy !! I love the idea around stacking leather to create the handle. I would never have thought about using the band saw like that.
That was some awesome metal work Jimmy! That Bowie knife looks great. Pretty soon I expect to see you on the TV show "Forged In Fire". That would be pretty cool............ 👍👍👍👍
I highly recommend you wrap the waist of that anvil with some chain or use a few magnets on the sides and under the horn to quiet that ring, it sounds terrible on the video and won't be doing anyone's hearing any good that isn't wearing protection. The only time a ringing anvil is useful is to test that it's not cracked or delaminating (if it's a wrought body) otherwise it should be quietened. Keep up the good work
I just HAD to fast forward at 12:00 mark. Watching you trim the handle with an unguarded bandsaw blade - and Pushing It With Your Fingertip!! 😵 Aah! Right tool for the job dude!
Very nice been watching you for years all the way back to the flea market shows atleast. And i myself am not a metal worker. But that was hard to listen to. Beautiful to watch. Watching Alex Steele as often as i do. It would be better to really put your diresta touch on securing and adding weight to your anvil. There's a video idea. Thanks for doing what you do.
Now that i think about it don't you already have a anvil video?? I think you do have one you added a chain and a log to unless I'm wrong not saying I'm not
Oh, very nice! Thank you very much, for sharing these videos, and your talents with all of us! it's really wonderful to see these videos, instead of mindless tv shows.
The entire time watching this, I expected to find "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!" That led me to The DiResta Theorem: "No matter what way you do it, on the internet, it's always wrong." Pleasantly surprised to not find the comments full of that. The theorem is, however, still true. But the corollary: "Except for Jimmy." is also true. :)
He cut a sharp 90 degree angle at the weakest point of the knife, right at the end of the tang. It's big no no I'm pretty surprised he wasn't aware of.
You sir, are the new "Forged in Fire" champion!
I'm impressed! The work is wonderful. I dream of working with you at least. Thank you for sharing!
I think Jimmy could have an entire channel of him just making knives, then slicing burritos and wraps in half with them. Yet another fantastic make!
Perfect sunday viewing, blacksmithing , bandsawing and leather work 👍
Who would have thought 9Lives Hearty Cuts could double up as a leather dye ? Thanks fo the shop tip Jimmy ;)
Your work on the band saw is a joy to watch.
Nice anvil.
Extraordinary talent on that saw.

INTRODUCING: Jimmy DiResta, the bandsaw whisperer.... Great skills, nicely done Jimmy!!
I don't think I have ever previously seen anyone carve brass with a jigsaw. Amazing.
Thank God you're back. I'm not much into forging and blacksmithing but the rest of the vid I love.
Thats a really clever way of making a new handle by pressing all that leather together like that, looks real good when finished.
Many are the ways to chop a burrito in the house of Diresta! Awesome work as always sir!
Thats how to use a bandsaw!. Its been many years using that saw like that and i see you still have all your fingers! Nice work Jimmy
My ears were happy to hear that the next project is a proper anvil stand.
You can really tell Jimmy Diresta taps into his skill set on every video. He's been doing this maker stuff for a long time. 🇺🇲
Projects like this are reasons why I never miss one of your uploads. Another great knife, Jimmy!
The tempering technique is something new for me, thank you Jimmy...

Files only cut in one direction dragging them back without picking them up ruins them. Really liked the video very enjoyable to watch.
I loved watching the handle come to life!!
Love your work, and your safety last approach to working with power tools.

Jimmy is an absolute wizard on the bandsaw! 😳
id like to see a Alec Steele and Diresta collaboration. who else likes this idea?
Would love to see Diresta and Alec Steele do their thing on forged in fire! Sure they would tear it up!
they've had at least one or two already.
When nobody showed you, how to use a bandsaw, you sometimes feel special in a bad way, when you "file and or grind" stuff with it...your videos make me so much more comfortable with myself :*
Yet another great project and video Jimmy, thanks for sharing.
I love the "Double Vision" Diresta stamp!
My heart stops whenever you go into slow motion because I’m waiting for a disaster lol
Same
There is no diSaster with a DiRasta...
Watching you carve on the bandsaw is so satisfying! 😀 and nice scissor cameo 👊
Awesome work! Love the extended bandsaw footage!
What a cute little Bowie knife. Nice knife in the end.
Cant wait to see the amazing, custom leather sheath that you are going to make for it!!
Watching Jimmy has made my bandsaw a more useful tool. I have used his technique on wood, but I don’t think I am ready for metal yet.
The handle reminds me of a K-Bar... and I like the double tap of your name-it makes me think it’s echoing somehow. Beautiful form and function. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice. That leather will last forever with the epoxy.
Another very pretty blade.

When I hear that hammer strike. I hear the Steel sing, What a Beautiful sound it made~
Nice! I don’t think I have seen anyone else do that much handle shaping with a saw that was cool
Anyone else get hungry for a kabob place when he was stacking the handle?! Just me? 🍻🍻 Your Kabowie knife is deliciously made 👍🍻🍻
Simply legendary. Always ahead of the crowd. Salutations mixed with congratulations and appreciation...
The blade is secondary to that handle. Insane build Jimmy. Thanks.
Your skills are amazing! You never disappoint!
Carving the handle on the band saw was amazing... I would gouge it too deep... You for sure have mad skills!!!
Wow had no idea how serrations were made. Great project.
Absolutely awesome work! From the blade to the handle just crazy cool build! Thanks for sharing!!!
This is cool! Like the rough hammer marks on the blade.

Creo que los videos donde haces cuchillos son los mejores. Gran resultado.
What a great way to start a weekend!! A creation from the talented, Jimmy DiResta!!! Good job there, buddy!!
So awesome when Jimmy makes a knife
You should keep making the burrito a recurring theme, and then collab with Binging with Babish on a burrito to cut lol
I think every knife he has made has gotten the burrito treatment. At least every practical knife.

All those years making wooden knives has paid off. Replace the steel, leather and brass with a chunk of wood and you get a DiResta Knife
It's not a knife, it's more of a work of art !
Great job Jimmy, that is an amazing transformation. You have great skills, and wonderful vision
You talk about not being a pro at this stuff but from where I'm sitting, it's professional work!
Now that would be something I'd be proud to wear. Amazing knife!
Geez, Jimmy! The blade really was the easy part!
it's always a pleasure watch what you do....
Jimmy is a BOSS! What other blacksmith/knife smith/craftsman wears a Rolex while forging metal?!?
🇺🇸 Congratulations 👏👏 you are the best 👊👊
🇧🇷 Parabéns 👏👏 você é o melhor 👊👊
This guy Jimmy has an obvious talent! I can see him making tables and things with wood down the road!!😂😂😂
I am always amazed at your band saw talents but i can't help thinking that one day the title of an episode will be, "DiResta the finger is missing!"
Hi Jimmy. Your such an expert in all things.
Loving the Eastwing leather stack!
How fantastic. Best channel period.
@4:46 what is the process you are doing with the knife and heated steel?
I found your channel recently. I enjoy all your build vids but my favorite are the few with narration because I learn more about the process. You have a knack for explaining things well. And you gotta pleasant tone!
Patreon channel. Voice overs!
Always so creative! hello from France. 👍😉
Love it. That carving technique with the bandsaw is skillful and amazing.
Beautifully forged knife!
My favorite video of all time, great job jimmy 👏👏👏👏
Next thing you know we'll be seeing Mr. D. on Forged in Fire.
What a beauty. I thought you would have made a sheath just to complete it but it's still an awesome build.
LOVED this one, Jimmy. Thank you for sharing!

I always find this stuff interesting can't wait for another year so I can get started
Using the hemostats to apply the coating to the handle is brilliant! I always learn new things from you!
It Looked like ha small Kelly Clamp.
That was some awesome metal work Jimmy! That Bowie knife looks great. Pretty soon I expect to see you on the TV show "Forged In Fire". That would be pretty cool............ 👍👍👍👍
Master of bandsaw-shaping
Love the shape on this one. Great demonstration of band saw carving technique.
Thanks for the video Jimmy.
Those serrations looks very useful, great job.
This is one for the knife museum!
Hi Jimmy, nice work. Also you could bolt down and tight your anvil to the stand, it will remove that high pitch when you are hitting :)
Cool way of tempering!! Awesome build Jimmy!
No automatic hammers.... nicely done jimmy.
He’s the Chuck Norris of metal work.

I purchased this anvil 2 hrs before I shot the beginning
I love your tool buying habits love the content. I just had head phones on when the anvil started dinging but I get it.
I'd love to see a video sometime, of how you profiled your grinding wheel, to carve the serrations into the blade! Absolutely stunning knife!
It was a purchase from a knife parts supplier
Thank you 🙏🏼
