Thanks for the enthusiastic and objective video. Let me tell you about two minor mistakes: 1) mobile phones can be fixed perfectly by pressing down and they will no longer move at all; 2) in the Ultra version, which is the one you seem to have tried, the charging at home reaches up to 22 kW, not the 11KW you mentioned. In any case, I really enjoyed your video very much. Thanks.
Great review! I would love to see refresh EX40/EC40 that includes this some of the EX30s more modern styling, layout, and infotainment. Though the EX30 is nice, those back seats and trunk are almost useless. I was also not impressed that Volvo put out this car with such a buggy operating system at the start. Speaking of, I agree with your review that moving all the traditional buttons into the screen was not a good move, though I'm sure it saved them money. A year ago I was hoping to get an EX30 but I'm glad I did not. Ended up getting a used 2023 C40 Ultimate which I love and is more practical for my family needs given we are a one car household.
FYI, there is a mirror shortcut in the car controls screen, saves a few clicks. But there are a number of annoying software issues. The wing mirrors don't auto dip in reverse, the performance mode (on the dual motor I have) breaks one pedal driving (no regen even tho OPD shows it's on), a heap of settings reset randomly to defaults, spotify app is unreliable and a few other issues that need solving. At least all those issues can be fixed, unfortunately the steering wheel buttons being utter garbage can't be fixed with an over the air update, single biggest design failure of the car IMO. Overall great car, I love it, but it needs work to get that software sorted.
Hey Chris , did you try asking Google to go to specific setting instead? I think there are some recognized commands. Anyways if you watch the Ex90/XC90 announcement, the next generation UI is coming to address some short comings I hope. I’m currently considering upgrading to this from XC40 PHEV.
The invisible magic called drag coefficient doesn't favour brick shaped cars like Volvos. Polestar 2(Cd - 0.278) & XC40(Cd - 0.328) share the same platforms but there is nearly 150km difference in their ranges.
Love the exterior but how one earth does Volvo think this interior competes with a Genesis GV60 or even the Cadillac XT4. The vertical screen and weird recycled dash look horrid!

I love this car and your review.
Glad you saved us from Victoria’s draconian EV tax for a draconian state. You should be the Premier!!
Thanks 🙏

Great review, but I’m really glad I purchased the XC 40 my24, love it, demo model reduced nicely.

Would be good to compare with the Zeeker X and Kia EV3 when available in Oz. They’re likely to be more affordable.
Good idea!
We love our dual motor ..although range could be better
Would love if you could share the link to the EV database you referenced where users submit range info
Like your review but don't compare to a sedan it needs to be compared to other CUV's such as the Atto 3, Niro EV, Kona EV, etc.
excellent

Wouldn't a competitor also be Cupra Born?
Not the 2025 EX30 you are reviewing.
Too expensive for me. Just like the larger XC40/C40. They all need to be $10k cheaper.

Good point ☝️
True, but the EX30 would need to either grow longer or lose what little boot space it has to fix that issue.
Polestar 2 is a lift back not a suv

Volvo needs to redesign the dashboard, as it’s dangerous as is.Who signed this off?
Don't crash
Nonsense
The interior design totally contradicts Volvo's history of safety: it is very dangerous, unpractical and stressful, many could argue as it seems so.
I thought the ultra model had air suspension
Low range.
