Harsha, I am a retired Army Officer and my 10 year old son does his schooling from HPS(R). I ask him if he knows popular personalities to have graduated from HPS and he would start with a few from the Film and Political fraternity. I silently wish he takes your name and when he isn’t aware of you to a large extent, I take the opportunity to express my admiration for you, the personality you are, the gentleman you are and the broadcaster that accompanied me through my love for the game of Cricket. It was such wonderful interaction with Ian Bishop, who has evolved as a wonderful broadcaster over the time but more importantly we now know a lot more of him as an even better human being. I cannot thank you enough, both you gentlemen, for your service to your profession and being an inspiration and role model to me and in numerous youngsters all across.🙏🏻 Wish to hear from both of you for many years ahead not just about Cricket but about our beautiful journey called ‘Life’.
Mr Harsha Bhogle you are the beacon of positivity in the era of sensationalised media ..Truly a gentleman who has been an effecient broadcaster of gentleman's game ... looking forward for your content on this channel
It's such a breath of fresh air to listen to the dynamics of broadcasting - until one fine day Mr Bhogle padded up to go and strike from the middle and opened up a TH-cam channel - the theory and complexity in broadcasting was known to none - thank you so much for this gift from you to the rest of the world.
Bish emanates true gentlemanliness, and my respect for him soared after witnessing his mature interview. It felt as thrilling as watching an intense Australia vs India test match in Chennai. I consider myself lucky to have witnessed Bish's bowling brilliance at its zenith. If not for injuries, he could have reached the same heights as his contemporaries like Courtney and Ambrose. Thank you, Harsha, for such a beautiful interview.
Ian Bishop should write of book of players who rose in the game despite humble and trying childhoods. Say like ' From Larwood in coal mines to Jaiswal in maidans"
Gentlemen, this conversation is one of the best in relation to Cricket, I have EVER listened to...and I have been involved in the game for the past 59 years. Listening to these two, I am resolved to be the best possible version of myself. Thank You Harsha Bhogle and Ian Bishop!
Harsha, Thanks a lot for sharing this conversation with the world. I felt inspired and also left with answers to some of the questions that were in my head. I am a 41 year old and was internally contemplating if I am being too harsh on myself with the prep I put in for my work, but your conversation put that question to bed and will continue with rejuvenated enthusiasm to continue preparation for my work.
Ian Bishop is an absolutely great commentator He always prepared for the game .... He always speaks about young players which even an Indian commentator doesn't know...
big fan from Pak Harsha, you are one of the few who in the current environment of appeasers, you are a shining light of the era where we saw Indians as comrades. Please keep these coming
Ian Bishop is a giant in the world of commentary, he brings so much passion , integrity and insight to describing the game. 'Remember the name - Carlos Braithwaite ' during the 2016 T20 WC is just one of those iconic lines of his that fans will never forget. Sad one can't say the same about Harsha anymore. From being the ' voice of Indian cricket ' he has come down to sucking up to the rich and powerful who run the sport in this country. You only have to look at the previous episodes he has done on the Mumbai Indians captaincy tangle and the selection of India 's T20 World Cup squad to understand that !
Well done sir! You have spoken the truth in an earnest and forthright manner. I would wager, that Mr. Bhogle has always been an establishment-man. Never to ruffle any feathers of the wrong kind. Always ensuring that the interests of his pay-masters are prioritized. If he had some integrity, he would have criticized Kohli's abhorent behaviour on-field, BCCI's blatant greed, and the Indian fans' rabid jingoism at least once live commentary. But he never did, nor he, ever will.
@@Evil_Clown-eh6jz You may have a point about Harsha always being an establishment man but it must be said that he never made his leanings so obvious in his early broadcasting days as he does nowadays. He would then at least attempt to be fair in his commentary on the game. I think the turning point came when he was sidelined from the lucrative IPL and other media assignments for a while by the powerful bosses of the BCCI. He is on record as saying that episode was something that constantly bothered him and so he may well have decided to throw in his lot with the powers that run Indian cricket. I know there are those who say that he needs to make a living but I am sure it can be done (as others like Bishop have) without compromising your credibility as a broadcaster.
Such a refreshing talk. I have been following cricket since my childhood time and grew up listening to commentary on air India radio, bbc and channel 9. It was very good to hear the perspectives from a broadcasters stand point. Very well done by the B&B combination. Thank you Mr Bhogale and MrBishop 🙏🙏🙏
I think knowing a broadcaster's angle is important to appreciate the value of what they add to a match. Can't get better people than Ian Bishop and Harsha Bhogle. Top people in the profession along with Simon Doull. I will watch a match if any of Bish or doull were in the commentary box. I have enjoyed their commentry in the U19 tournaments the most.
Ian Bishop's commentary when Windies won the u19 wc His commentary in the pink odi on the ABD record breaking inngs and then again when Brathwaithe finished off england in that T20 WC final❤🔥🔥
27:10 Couldn't agree more! A few years ago, people used to say that Kohli was vulnerable 90% of the time to a bowler bowling on the 5th stump line but not to a spinner. Now, the stats would indicate something different-that he's more vulnerable to spin and that spin should be introduced as early as possible. A player evolves over time, and you can't cling too much to a stat for an extended period.
Great conversation harsha and bishop. You can take back the conversation and apply to your respective profession as well. All the best and you guys continue to mesmerize us with your lovely voice and reading the game. God bless both of you.
sitting back and letting the moment sink in; another example is ODI WC final 2019. NZvENG, Nasseer Hussain and Ian Smith. Bish just took the back seat, let the situation dictate itself and then we got the barest of margins. Bish, you are an absolute genius. we need more people like you in this world.
What a fantastic interview. It was a pleasure to hear two mature, good hearted gentlemen who are deeply passionate about not just the game but also their discipline within it. The mutual respect and admiration between Mr Bhogle and Mr Bishop is palpable, nay, almost tangible. Love it! 🙏🏾♥️
Amazing questions. Two people well versed with cricketing knowledge, discussing nuances of broadcasting and to bring the game to the fans in best possible way for viewers.
Just watched the ending again and Mr. Harsha Bhogle i have a suggestion. The last bit is so 🔥 please upload it separately also as a REEL. It will reach many people and ofcourse everyone will love it and it will in turn encourage them to watch the whole video who otherwise might not have. Even if they don't, that ending deserves to be seen by a larger audience.
i have always tweeted about you Ian Bishop and Nasser Hussain being my favourite commentators trio but this is still a dream, may be you three can come together on yt sometime.
You two always keeping the balance in com box specially in Indian matches (IPL or international) . There’s lot of unnecessary praise/criticism otherwise all the time.
Excellent conversation. Says how important it is to be grounded, irrespective of the profession you are in. On trolling - I feel it is due to movies/films that trolling has become such a "cool" thing.
Ian Bishop what a bowler he is. In my opinion he is the last person the greatest fast bowlers West Indies cricket has give to the World of Cricket. It is a nice Interview Harsha Bhogle, my personal favourite commentator. Please take this message to Ian Bishop, I am a greatest fan of West Indies brand of cricket, I wish they should return to their glory it is really good for the game of cricket. I saw their recently concluded test matches against England and against South Africa I didn't watch the matches but followed the game in social media. It is very sad to see the current situation of West Indies team particularly in Test matches and 50-50 matches (I don't care about T20 cricket, in my opinion it is not at all cricket). They are lost all the matches without even fighting. I would like to see WI bounces back from this. Please take this message to Ian Bishop.
I remember reading a beautiful article by Harsha some years ago on "Instinctive play vs Percentage play/playing for a win". Don't know if you remember that one. I would like to know your thoughts on it in the current era. Would you like to come up with a short video on this topic someday? Please.
Dear Harshaji, Wonderful Interview. However, I personally felt that you MUST have spoken about the Great Tony Cozier ...He was responsible for bringing in Michael Holding , Ian Bidhop...Nevertheless, an interview many young broadcasters must watch to understand how to interview in the most dignified manner.. ...
Harsha. I love how you differentiate between popular and respected. Bish is brilliantly both while Ian Smith is perhaps popular. Even in the Ch9 Fab4, Tony Grieg and Bill Lawry were popular but the ones that I respected were Chappelli and Benaud.
Plz interview the best batsman Brian Lara. Most of the public were blindfolded to believe someone else was the best batsman of the same era due marketing/money complusion when Lara was 3 notches up in talent, 5 in tough innings played, 10 in entertainment.

Probably one of the few youtube videos, where you do not want to skip or fast forward even 10 seconds of it.
Both of them are so respectful and dignified. It's such a pleasure to listen to them.
A beautiful conversation between two dignified gentlemen. Loved that line ''good things happen to good people'', Thanks Harsha.
