The ride is a good one. The views are good and the coaster goes really fast. I liked this one better than the NASCAR themec coaster that used to be on the other end of the strip.
When he said Orlando was going to lose I laughed and thought: How are you going to beat Disney, Comcast, and Seaworld Busch Gardens, that just sounds highly unpraboble.
You have to remember this ride was built when we were in the middle of this huge boom in development in Las Vegas. The sky was the limit back then and developers were really trying to grab marketshare from Orlando.

Mid to late 90's Vegas was when they were going after family's big time. MGM had a amusement park where some condo's and top golf is now , The Boardwalk casino had a wooden coaster and some other rides, Circus Circus had it's amousment park, There was a big water park on the strip, the stratosphere had it rides, there was the Nascar coaster also and I feel a few other rides plus some major attractions like one of the first game works and a few other ultra high end gaming lounges on top of every casino having a normal arcade
BS. Togo was actually very comparable to Arrow in its range of comfort, thrills and timespan. Enthusiasts=complainers or at least tough critics that listen too much to each other. However it was interesting to find that the trains were replaced in 2006. I rode this in 2007 and didn't find it very rough, although unimpressive, and the stunt section is quite ugly and small.
@@spentron1 Haven't ridden it, but it doesnt look as bad as people say. Yeah, TOGO is probably comparable to Arrow smoothness wise, maybe also a bit to Schwarzkopf. I honestly don't mind rough rides as long as my head doesn't get killed, so k think I'll enjoy TOGOs.
I still have the on ride picture of me and my dad when I was a kid. I don't remember it being very rough, but the scared look on my face in the picture might mean otherwise. But I do remember being at the New York New York in later years and wanting to ride it but it was closed for different reasons every time. My friend was paid to paint a mural of a subway car crashing through a wall in the arcade, but sadly they painted over it when they relocated the arcade.

Hey guys...I myself am a life-long amusement/coaster junkie and travelled around the country myself during my off-time taking in different parks...(in my younger years!!) Riding Alpengeist in it's opening year and then Millenium Force a few years later were some of the greatest times of my life (Chang at Kentucky Kingdom was also a fav, and that park deserves an Expedition!!) I just wanted to say thanks for your works...I really enjoy your docu style presentations, and this is the best channel anywhere in the world for this type of thing...I found this channel just a few months ago and Im still progressing through all of the videos, but again, really fantastic stuff...Thank you so much!! 🎆🎆🎆
This TOGO is one of the very few coasters I have absolutely no desire to ride again. I was never a fan of the ride but once the ride received Premier trains, I tried it again. I didn't see much an improvement so I swore off the ride for good. It's so strange as there is a similar ride in Japan that is quite enjoyable to ride.
It’s just not worth it, especially at that price point. It isn’t even free if you stay at the hotel - you still have to pay $19 ($19!!!!) to ride it, but you get two rides instead of one. Even if the ride was good, that’s a still a complete ripoff.
I remember watching it from the street and several strangers came up to me and told me it’s the only roller coaster they would warn me not to ride and that they felt so sore afterwards. Glad I listened to these helpful strangers!
This coaster, when I went on it in 2018, had strange shoulder restraints, not full over the shoulder but just kinda mini bars, that I think were specifically designed to punch you square in the jaw.
This was my first big coaster, back when I was a teen and more resilient. Even back then when I rode it in 2005 I remember it being a bit rough, so I can only imagine how rough it is now.
I rode it once a decade ago. I love roller coasters. I still remember how painful it was, and though I've even stayed at New York New York again since, I would never ride it again.
I had the pleasure of riding this coaster back when it was called the Manhattan Express. I LOVED IT!!! Im excited to get back to Vegas and ride the updated version! The big Apple. Lol
Here to report that the new Premiere trains make this ride surprisingly enjoyable. The comfort collars make for a... comfortable ride. The experience feels oddly smooth even through the rocky transitions.

I just got back from Vegas May 30th 2022 and rode this coaster 🎢 twice before I left. I rode it before in 2014. Now it’s a tradition for me to ride it before I leave Vegas!!!!!
Rode this in 2018 and 100% that heart-line roll is a real doozy. Its so jarring, but the rest of the ride is really nice since you get an amazing view. Also I should add that there is virtually no wait to ride it!
That ride and Desperado were the two most horrifying and painful experiences I've ever had with roller coasters. I swear I almost flew out of my set in Desperado, I was a tiny kid.
I rode this last year. They got brand new trains in 2021 and the ride is now alot smoother. I've rode it with the older trains before and it was way rougher then. It is way better now though
I have some ideas to consider if you read this, Excalibur, Psyclone (SFMM), Vortex (KI), Eagle Fortress, Dragon Mountain / Marineland, and mostly Viper at magic mountain, and Gemini at Cedar Point.
Gmoney TSM I was in grad school in Cleveland when Mean Streak opened. I went with several friends early on in the season and we rode it back to back 3-4 times without getting off the ride. We only did that to pose for pictures and finally got the one we wanted. I thought it was a great coaster, but I understand it didn’t age well over the years. My coaster tolerance is getting lower as I get older, but I hope to ride Steel Vengeance before I give up riding entirely.
I've ridden it 3 times and it was only cause they were too distracted on NYE to scan my card ($17/ride) and I essentially rode for free. The ride is so entangled in the building so they can't just ditch it as easily as some think.

We stayed at the Excalibur hotel in 2017 and our room had a perfect view of the coaster and New York New York. I remember practically begging my family to go on it cause we've always been coaster fans but after reading a few reviews and finding out it was $15 a person per ride we opted out. I half regret not getting the credit but I also am slightly grateful to have not been traumatized by it.

I rode it when brand new and then again years later. First time was awesome. The ride was super smooth. The second time years later it beat the crap out of me. The ride just vibrates like crazy. Makes you wonder if they just don't maintain it that much.
I rode this once on a visit to Vegas in early 2010s and my word, it was intense. I did feel sore afterwards and wouldn’t ride it again. Once was more than enough!
As a vegas local, I can't tell you how many times I've _walked by_ that thing, but never once have I met anyone who actually bothered to ride it. Always liked the buffalo bill's coaster though, but it's a drive to get out there so I've only road it a couple of times.
Finally got to ride this two weeks ago after dreaming about it for 20 years now. It isn’t that bad until it gets to the bunny hops, when it becomes really unpleasant. It didn’t hurt my back, at least. Still glad I got the credit.
I have vague memories of riding this as a kid around when it first opened. I think it was this one, but really I only remember riding a coaster I believe was during a trip to visit my grandparents who lived in Vegas, and the feeling of my head smacking around inside the over-the-shoulder restraints
I rode this around 2005 and it really rattles your head against the restraints. I remember thinking that a young child could actually get a skull fracture.
I rode this the other week with its current trains and while it was on the rougher side, I have to say it wasn't painful with the current restraints. I might just not have standards for rough coasters, though, given that Grizzly at CGA never bothered me as much as everyone says it's supposed to...

I've had at least 20 opportunities to ride this coaster since 97, I probably went to vegas with my family like 6 months after opening. I've never ridden it. After watching this, I'm torn between ride before it's gone, and never ride because I hate coasters that beat you up. (I have ridden desperado and yes, that was ROUGH!)
I love roller coasters, when I travel to anyplace in the world I see what is there major roller coaster. I rode that New express coaster maybe 20 years ago. Once was enough for me. Not an enjoyable ride. You been warned.
I've ridden it about 4 times and will probably ride it again when I go back to Vegas later this month. I'm surprised nobody has build a theme park in Vegas yet (with extreme rides, coasters, etc).
I rode that back when I move to Vegas in 2006. what I got off my earlobes was bleeding because my head head slammed against the headrest so many times that it had torn the earring a little. Never went back because it was such a painful ride, LOL

He says in the narration that they were trying to re-create 1940s New York City. The world trade center was built in the 1970s and therefore wouldn’t qualify.
I remember riding this in the late 90's. My teenage coaster fanatic self loved it! I do remember it being rough, but the fun factor far outweighed the roughness. I occasionally have random thoughts to this day about it's signature element. I also remember returning a few years later and passing when I saw the $9 price.
My first trip to LV was Sept. 4 2001, driving past NYNY hotel i said to the driver, wow it looks so different with out the Twin Towers. The cabbie actually told me about the plans to add them in the next year or so. Well that never happend and that convo will always stick with me.
Rode it 5 or 6 years ago. I don't really remember thinking it was excessively rough, but I'm also not a coaster enthusiast, so what do I know. I actually remember seeing someone recreate the Las Vegas strip in Planet Coaster, and they recreated The Big Apple Coaster. A Planet Coaster TH-camr reviewed the creation, including the coaster and ended up giving a tutorial on how to use the smoothing tools on the transitions because he felt that whoever rebuilt the ride in the game didn't know about it. The comment section was filled with people going "Nope, that is actually how rough the transitions are"
I remember when I rode this, I got the VR pass and heres the thing, it somehow managed to get glitched so this means everything I viewed inside the VR was the taxi inside a lab kinda facility not moving for the whole ride. So I just standed there riding this getting my head and neck banging over the restraints while watching PS2 quality virtual riders just staring at nothing while I screamed in pain. Ill never forget that, the attendants offered a 2nd ride for me because of the malfunction on the VRs but I straightly refused, 0/10 experience, 10/10 pain. (I rode the coaster before they added the new carts to the ride, this means it was even more painful).
After recently riding this neckache of a coaster again. yeah its rough really rough. even though I like the coaster layout, Its pretty neat for it being pretty compact and the arcade thats in the hotel is still pretty cool. Keep up the Great videos man, as a guy who lives in Vegas seeing these makes me appreciate them more. Now does this mean that The Adventuredome Is Next or the Rides ontop of the Stratosphere?

I rode it when brand new and then again years later. First time was awesome. The ride was super smooth. The second time years later it beat the crap out of me. The ride just vibrates like crazy. Makes you wonder if they just don't maintain it that much.

I rode this once on a visit to Vegas in early 2010s and my word, it was intense. I did feel sore afterwards and wouldn’t ride it again. Once was more than enough!

As a vegas local, I can't tell you how many times I've _walked by_ that thing, but never once have I met anyone who actually bothered to ride it. Always liked the buffalo bill's coaster though, but it's a drive to get out there so I've only road it a couple of times.
I rode the coaster once.....just once. That was 14 years ago. The thing with Vegas is that there are so many other things to do than ride a coaster.

Finally got to ride this two weeks ago after dreaming about it for 20 years now. It isn’t that bad until it gets to the bunny hops, when it becomes really unpleasant. It didn’t hurt my back, at least. Still glad I got the credit.

I have vague memories of riding this as a kid around when it first opened. I think it was this one, but really I only remember riding a coaster I believe was during a trip to visit my grandparents who lived in Vegas, and the feeling of my head smacking around inside the over-the-shoulder restraints

I rode this around 2005 and it really rattles your head against the restraints. I remember thinking that a young child could actually get a skull fracture.

I rode this the other week with its current trains and while it was on the rougher side, I have to say it wasn't painful with the current restraints. I might just not have standards for rough coasters, though, given that Grizzly at CGA never bothered me as much as everyone says it's supposed to...

I've had at least 20 opportunities to ride this coaster since 97, I probably went to vegas with my family like 6 months after opening. I've never ridden it. After watching this, I'm torn between ride before it's gone, and never ride because I hate coasters that beat you up. (I have ridden desperado and yes, that was ROUGH!)
I love roller coasters, when I travel to anyplace in the world I see what is there major roller coaster. I rode that New express coaster maybe 20 years ago. Once was enough for me. Not an enjoyable ride. You been warned.

The buffet in most casinos cost over $25, now that is overpriced. But, they have a trapped customer base so they can overcharge.
I've ridden it about 4 times and will probably ride it again when I go back to Vegas later this month. I'm surprised nobody has build a theme park in Vegas yet (with extreme rides, coasters, etc).
I rode that back when I move to Vegas in 2006. what I got off my earlobes was bleeding because my head head slammed against the headrest so many times that it had torn the earring a little. Never went back because it was such a painful ride, LOL

I went to Vegas last week and got to ride this on my last day, it was definitely shaky and wild but I had a ton of fun!
I liked it when I rode it in 2012. Again, living thousands of miles away from ant good amusement/theme park made the ride look and feel great when visiting Vegas with no other real good coaster around to compare it to..
Outside of just the Stratosphere, Las Vegas can't do theme parks

I remember riding this in the late 90's. My teenage coaster fanatic self loved it! I do remember it being rough, but the fun factor far outweighed the roughness. I occasionally have random thoughts to this day about it's signature element. I also remember returning a few years later and passing when I saw the $9 price.

My first trip to LV was Sept. 4 2001, driving past NYNY hotel i said to the driver, wow it looks so different with out the Twin Towers. The cabbie actually told me about the plans to add them in the next year or so. Well that never happend and that convo will always stick with me.
I will admit it's rather rough, but some of us like that... it's quite an exhilarating ride... and last I noticed, it's still there, and running.
I love the use of video game soundtracks. Caught Cuphead towards the middle and the Sonic soundtrack at the end!

Rode it 5 or 6 years ago. I don't really remember thinking it was excessively rough, but I'm also not a coaster enthusiast, so what do I know. I actually remember seeing someone recreate the Las Vegas strip in Planet Coaster, and they recreated The Big Apple Coaster. A Planet Coaster TH-camr reviewed the creation, including the coaster and ended up giving a tutorial on how to use the smoothing tools on the transitions because he felt that whoever rebuilt the ride in the game didn't know about it. The comment section was filled with people going "Nope, that is actually how rough the transitions are"

I rode it a long time ago and it was not memorable.
I remember when I rode this, I got the VR pass and heres the thing, it somehow managed to get glitched so this means everything I viewed inside the VR was the taxi inside a lab kinda facility not moving for the whole ride. So I just standed there riding this getting my head and neck banging over the restraints while watching PS2 quality virtual riders just staring at nothing while I screamed in pain. Ill never forget that, the attendants offered a 2nd ride for me because of the malfunction on the VRs but I straightly refused, 0/10 experience, 10/10 pain. (I rode the coaster before they added the new carts to the ride, this means it was even more painful).

After recently riding this neckache of a coaster again. yeah its rough really rough. even though I like the coaster layout, Its pretty neat for it being pretty compact and the arcade thats in the hotel is still pretty cool. Keep up the Great videos man, as a guy who lives in Vegas seeing these makes me appreciate them more. Now does this mean that The Adventuredome Is Next or the Rides ontop of the Stratosphere?

I Know where its stored in "storage" Its Just in a lot near the mandalay bay its a real shame because it was a good coaster. but now its just pieces just rotting away in a lot near the las vegas sign, I don't know if thats a sad end or a great grave since its still in vegas.
