  • Mark Herman plays the final concert on the 3-manual, 27-rank Wurlitzer/Composite Theatre Pipe Organ located in Emmanuel Faith Community Church (EFCC) in Escondido, CA in June 2020. The organ has since been removed in advance of the remodeling of the sanctuary. Century Pipe Organ from Minneapolis removed the organ and is looking for a suitable home for the instrument.

Each of these organs should be considered National Treasures and be preserved somewhere somehow.

Great young people continue to perform on the mighty wurlitzer ! I grew up listening to George Wright at my Dad's house and got to meet him as I built a Shober Theatre Organ and performed.

Incredible! Incredibly wonderful. I hope it lives on somewhere else. It's a magnificent instrument played by a Master! Imagine Bach on this organ.

This is a Theatre Organ, although you could play Bach on it, it is much more elaborate than a Church Organ.

I miss TV of the 50s and 60s when they stopped broadcasting late at night. The last thing Chicago stations played was The Star Spangled Banner. At 75 I so miss that patriotism after 2991 days in the Air Force on active duty. Not to mention Kate Smith singing God Bless America.

This is a shame that this great instrument no longer exists. I surely hope it finds a good home.

Honestly I’ve heard only very few performances as thrilling as this! And I’ve heard some....your style and arrangements are second to none and the unique sound of this organ makes this a really outstanding recording. I for one am so glad you made it! Hello from Oz.

I would much rather not stare at an empty consul or the surroundings while Mark's playing, there's so much to learn from watching him.

Mark is this the organ you recorded the CD with the pastel colored Candy Lolly Pop graphic? The arrangements, the medleys and sounds are strikingly familiar. The strings in Everything's coming up Roses . I love that CD. If it were vinyl it would be worn out.

Did Ed Stout have something to do with the installation or restoration of that organ?

    • @markhermanmusic

No, not this one. It was installed by Terry Kleven and Bob Swaney of Century Pipe Organs in Minneapolis. They have this organ in storage now and hope to find another good home for it.

It's sad to see a church that seems to call itself Christian not preserving a beautiful piece of art in its possession like that, in the name of renovation. Jesus Christ said "Ye are the salt of the earth. If salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?"
    Salt preserves.

    • @OrganMusicYT

All of the stops are pipe organ stops, Wurlitzer's are pipe organs.

If you meant does it have church organ sounds available, the answer is yes, it has a diapason and flutes at many pitches. One can get a very effective church organ sound by using these without tremulant. (Additional stops can be added to the sound as well, but doing so tastefully requires more thought to avoid sounding reedy or uncharacteristic.)
