Once you get your office finished above your utility/supply room you can edit the video and enjoy your coffee in a more quiet place while you wait on your ewes to give birth. The ones with unique markings and a personality that is as unique as they are. I melt every time I see those lambs, like I said I sure miss being around the farm I use to work at. Right about now I'd be preparing for the January lambing, lots of very little sleep for the next season but I would still do it. Guess I should have said still preparing, just not sheep, my 2 girls(Nigerian-1/4 pygymy-1/4 fainter) in about 2 weeks and then comes Belle my walker in march. If youd like to see them Ill have them up on my goat channel. Bigger hugs and kisses for those precious little bundles.

Another great day for lambing. I'm glad that ewe accepted that lamb since it tried to steal it earlier. We are about to have a blizzard here in South Dakota, so I think it is a good time to sit back and watch all of the Christmas vlogs over again.

Popcorn’s babies are adorable, love their coloration/markings. the painted family are cute too. With a gentle sire and good dam, the lambs may be nice to keep. (I imagine you would keep ewes lambs from them but I didn’t catch whether they were female or male.)
When I was a youngster my dad had about 20 Suffolk ewes and a buck. The buck was so aggressive and dangerous we only kept him just "long enough". I remember when we had lambs and how cute they were but I also remember how "stupid" we all thought adult sheep were when we'd try to herd them anywhere. Now that I'm much older and somewhat wiser, I can see that we expected way too much from them, LOL. Your lambs are so adorable. And I love Prince William. What a handsome fellow.
Cathy Steenson One of the problem herding sheep is the fact they like moving into the wind rather than moving with a tail wind. Also sheep are difficult when moving to a place/fate way they have not been before. They will remember a place there after. We had sheep that knew the route for 5 miles/8 km. 500 Freshly shorn wethers took off at a run and entered the correct gateway. Ewes with young lambs are harder to move.

They were ewes, then ewes with lambs, so yes, it probably was scary and confusing to them when we'd try to move them to different paddocks/shelters. And we didn't even have a line of fencing to guide them. On a lucky perhaps but positive note, they all lambed easily and none were lost. We did have little stalls for the new moms. Wow, so long ago!

When the baby lambs jump and hop around it makes me laugh out loud. Is that a behavior unique to young lambs or will they jump around like that at times when they are full grown as well ? I can understand they would not jump around now that they are full of babies but in spring or when the weather is nice and the pasture is getting ripe I wondered if they get happy and start to jump like the babies do. Thanks in advance if you reply. I only raised a Goat for milk who had lost her baby due to freezing cold weather here in Michigan, the owner did not want to milk her so I took over. It was the best winter/spring I can remember having, thanks to the love of that Nanny goat, she was gentle and funny and fun to be around. She loved to be milked, and loved to knock over my milk pail, I had to guard it like a hawk every time I milked her, ( fast foot action). Years later I learned that milk stations could be made with a small loop to hook around the back hoof to keep her from kicking my milk pail … but where is the fun in that I ask ?? I would have done it had I known. Thank you for taking the huge time and work filming and editing and posting all this wonderful footage of the moms and babies. Also I do not know how you film it so well but it is fascinating to watch all the trouble the ewes get into trying to give birth. It seems like only about half have no problems and I never knew that those silly sheep would try to steal babies, silly sheep. Good thing those mom's have you on patrol to keep the babies safe.

You might not have time for this, but I give my ewes warm water with blackstrap molasses in it right after they lamb. It gives them a real boost👍
