- Played Für Elise for my daughter Emilie the other day, she told me she liked it and asked me to record it for her. First time she asked anything like this.

Beautifully played and a perfect tempo I thought! I find a lot of people tend to play this one too fast but then it loses some of the feeling in my opinion. I always tell my students "just because you can play something really fast doesn't mean that you should play it that fast!"
I was going to comment the same. This is the best tempo for me too.

I've heard this piece a million times, I've played this piece hundreds of times... and your version is still my favorite. The phrasing, articulation, dynamics... it's perfection.

2 years in my piano adult journey, music doesn’t look too difficult, but still seems so intimidating since everyone knows the piece

Nothing really too difficult, bar by bar. But when you put all together and try to play it all without errors and seamlessly then being satisfied comes hard.
Of course, time and repetitions make their job, but also rise the expectations.
When I used to play (a perpetual beginner), this piece had become my "comfort zone", an interlude between new challenges, just as to tell myself: don't give up, relax, you can do it with time and perseverance. Did not have them for a long time. I'm now trying to reinstate the old skills (and improve) in sight of retirement ...
That’s always intimidating, playing well known rep even more so while other highly trained musicians are around

I have never played piano or know how to read sheet music. I dont know the speed of this song officially. Every other video of this song has it way to fast (in my opinion) . You killed it and i have listened to this song more times then i can count..... thank you

There is just a small number of good recordings of this piece on YT and this is definitely one of the best.

I played this at a daycare for my teaching placement, the children loved it! Then I played them an arrangement of Jesu Joy & Canon in D and they switched off :( I like this format with your videos, having the sheet music above your playing. It saves having to hunt for the sheet music like with a lot of other videos.

this version is beautiful. just the only thing i found off was at the end phrase is a actually a D instead of E which is different than all the other A sections. the notation says E, but I do like the way the chord change compliments the A at the end.
I've been hearing too many recordings where the opposite mistake is made, where it's played as a D at the end of ALL the A sections. Indeed, that's how it's notated on the sheet music I just looked up on musescore. The paper copy I have, though, has it E-C-B-A every time except the very last one, which is D-C-B-A. Now I wonder what Ludwig actually wrote?! ◡̈

I came here to see if Paul actually had a recording of this piece, which to my amazement, he did. I've been playing the piano for 40 years and I never thought that any self respected pianist will make this their go to pice. No insult intended for those who love it. I've been asked so many times to play fur Elise. I have the pice and I think I've gone through it twice in my lifetime. It's just an easy sight read Bagatelle. Recently I was asked to play it, and the person actually had the piece in a Bethoven book. I opened it halfway or toward the end. That's Not fur Elise! That's the pretty part, I said. 😅 I left them all confused not knowing how fur Elise was supposed to sound like 😂. By the way. I never had the chance to thank you for the class you did on Chopin Ballad no.1. I had not played it in so many years. You still keep some of the muscle memory, but with a lot of wrong notes. I wish I would have had those resources when I first learned it. They are the best I've ever seen.

ItsRousnu It’s Kreisler’s tho. Not Rachmaninoff. Rachmaninoff made the piano arrangement, but there are also other piano arrangements by other pianists
I took on this piece, everything was going well but I was having trouble on measure 29 to 36 I just couldn't get it. Then I saw his video and found out that the sheet that I downloaded was wrong Lmao. I practiced for weeks I could just not get it.Now I can play the piece without trouble✌️
