Once Alpha Link is stable, I will focus my efforts on these complementary applications that will do functions like the system you described.

To connect it to your phone, you will need a standard USB cable for that port (it must support data), and an OTG dongle/adapter for your phone, which expands the phone's Micro USB or USB C to full size USB A.

Any plans for an asynchronous matchmaking system? Could queue up codes until a same stage opponent is found then match them to each other.

The digivice helper is the same system as a normal DCom, only in a special enclosure - so it will be compatible :)

Yes - If you make an AlphaCom or D-Com (and upload the arduino program), all you need to do is connect it to the phone and you're ready

DMX Isn't supported yet.
To add support for a new VPet requires a lot of work. DMX will be added in the future - look out for updates on the twitter!
