    wow your lazy intro lost my interest ,, quality vs volume folks.. no like for this one, make every post like your first, plus no feedback .. nooo

      We have always said we make our videos for us and if anyone else chooses to watch them then that is an amazing bonus. Our editing/style has changed over the years and the less heavily edited/polished intro is really a conscious decision to show more of our personalities and the reality of our narrowboat lives (with a dog) rather than us being lazy. I hope that explanation makes sense and if this style is not for you then we totally understand your decision not to watch.

      Hi, I have read your post and Jo's reply. We are very long-term subscribers to this channel (actually under another account - but nonetheless, from the start of their journey). I see Jo's point but I think it somewhat disingeneous. We have been watching less-and-less precisely because of this problem. I regard your critique as both very fair and very helpful - perhaps using the word "lazy" was a tad careless / rude alas but you did take the trouble to flag-up what we also regard as a major problem with the channel.
      Jo, Hi. We know how hard you have worked on your channel and the fab vids you have posted. And I completely agree with you: all creatives should make the product firstly for themselves and, if others like it, that's great. It is one reason why so many pop groups are forgettable but the Beatles were so brilliant - they decided not to follow the crowd and did what they wanted to do. (Then, of course, was their genius and talent, etc).
      But that does not mean one cannot improve. And videos are a two-way process: you put-in much work but viewers give their time. Yes, we do want to see canal things - travels, work, etc but also George, Michael and yourself. We do want to hear your take on things and I, for one, do not want you to spend hours editing. And yet, with respect, rambling-on too much (like I am in this post!) can easily lose an audience which, otherwise, might love your channel. There is a reason we teach children to precis work - - ie why spend ages saying something which can be said quicker and better? Some things do take longer but some do not. To put it another way (more of MY rambling) it puts this viewer off to hear something which could be said well raggidly extended for no gain. If it needs to take ages: take ages but, if not...
      I was rather disappointed by your somewhat dismissive reply to Eamo - it was an explanation but was somewhat spikey, too and I feltt it targeted us as well - ie you are not open to suggestions for improvement and we either have to keep listening to over-long rambles, else stop watching your channel. Neither option appeals to us but if you take that view, I guess we should take your hint and stop watching. I hope it does not come to that.
      Happy new year to all three of you; I hope it is really happy, healthy, peaceful and fun. Good luck with the rennovations first! Take care and thanks for all your hard work.

    It's funny, even when the videos are short but sweet it reminds me why I watch vids about narrowboats' and canal life. I would have loved to do what you have been doing but sadly I've left it too late, so vicarious boating it has to be. Thanks, guys.
    All the best Stephen ✔✔

      Thank you for riding along with us! Just remember this 10 minute highlight of an august cruise in the sunshine doesn’t 100% represent narrowboat life. (As I type from a boat with no kitchen or bathroom or running water!)
      Best wishes to you too!

    Hi and HAPPY NEW YEAR to Jo, Michael and George.
    Just wanted to say how much we are enjoying your videos of last summer on the Great Ouse, they are a great reminder of our most enjoyable trip there last year - don't stop we are looking forward to seeing ALL of your back catalogue.
    The Great Ouse is so quiet during the week and we remember seeing you, in fact we stopped at the GOBA moorings near Brampton Mill on 16th July 21.
    We're wondering how your trip up the River Nene went, did you get held up with the lock breakdowns like us - looking forward to the release of those VLOGS when you get there.
    Hope the refurb is going well as the lighter evenings are coming!!
    Thank you for sharing your travels

      Thank you for such a lovely comment, Happy New Year to you too. The editing is on the back burner at the moment while we get on with the boat repairs but we are dreaming of being back in Brampton Mill in summer, what a lovely mooring.
      Yes roll on spring.

    If a dog keeps their tail between their legs even while they're walking, they are trying to send a message. Usually, it means that the dog is worried or frightened by something, and is not feeling confident in their surroundings.

    Another great informative and entertaining trip viewed from Aotearoa NZ. We know you've finished your canal treking and are now renovating Perserverance but just wondering how far away your final leg is likely to be broadcast as just saw a blog from David on Cruising the Cut showing that but am looking forward to it from your perspective. Cheers

      @MinimalList  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have have about 15 cruising videos left to edit. So at this rate it will be up in about three months time. Would love to get it up sooner but life is a bit overwhelming at the moment.

  • @shanehumberstone5262
    @shanehumberstone5262 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Apparently there are quite a few boats on the great Ouse that stay at moorings for months at a time,also boats that the owners haven’t paid for the river license are on the great Ouse too but nothing has been done to catch them,makes honest boaters think what’s the point in paying when others don’t and get away with it

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, that is really annoying!

    • @shanehumberstone5262
      @shanehumberstone5262 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MinimalList yes very annoying and on top of that,for the past few months goba have been at loggerheads with the environment agency as they were wanting to put the price up for river licenses by up to 65% which would drive a hell of a lot of boaters off the river but thankfully because of the effort put in by goba and boaters filling in a survey(not as many as there should have been because the ea have been dodgy about telling people) the ea have dropped their plan to fleece everyone on the great ouse

    Hi Michael and Jo.... hoping you are managing to get on with all your boating refurb!! We have our boat moored at Pyford Marina , used to have Take Wine next to us so met Andrew, lovely chap! Wanted to ask was it you that took a photo of all of your windlasses you had collected over cruising ? If so would you have a spare one you no longer need for the canals!! We have a River Wey one but not a standard one for the GU canal which we are hoping to move onto and move up to Cowroast in April, moving onboard in 4 weeks time!! Hope you dont mind me asking, just made me smile when I saw your windlass collection!! Hope George is ok..... take care... lynette xx

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was us but I’m afraid we got rid of all our excess windlasses! Yeah, Andrew is great, we are really lucky to have him helping us.

    All my best wishes for the new year to the three of you.
    What happens with George when you take a trip away from the boat? Does he go along too? Dog friendly hotel? Also, how is he coping with the reno? Does he pine for home? Or is home anywhere there's a ball?

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      George always comes along with us. We'd miss him too much otherwise. He's not enjoying the renovation too much to be honest. Hopefully it wont be too much longer now.

  • @BillMSmith

    First, happy new year to all. George looked especially happy today. Did he get extra belly rubs that morning?
    My wife looked over my shoulder while I was watching this, and said "Oh, those long boats again." Now my wife hates to be wrong, so as part of your renovations could you carve a dragon head and mount it on Perseverance's bow? It might be easier than trying to explain it, again.

    Wasn´t there several unnecessary metres between the boats on the other side of the bridge, if they had moored closer, had you been able to squeese Persverance in?

    • @MinimalList
      @MinimalList  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, there were a few annoying gaps but I dont think we'd have been able to squeeze in anyway.
