This has to be one of your best. The photography, the done footage and your commentary were TV worthy! It’s a fascinating area with a melancholy feeling to it. I’m hoping that next year will include a stay down there.
Wow, thank you! That’s so good to hear. You know how I feel about listening to my voiceovers! It’s such a special place down there and we will definitely be going back again. We had to rush it too much to make sure we got off the Severn before it went into flood 🫤
Truly one of the best videos. I thought so too. Wonderful. Besides the fantastic pictures, I also love your music selection. Thank you for your commitment. We'll do that sometime. Greetings from Germany
That’s so lovely to hear Ann. I love how this one turned out, finding to perfect music to show off Pete’s excellent drone footage. It’s such a fascinating place 😊
Fantastic views and scenes from my part of the country, thank you for sharing them. Really enjoy all of your vlogs but the last few from Gloucestershire were excellent 👏🏻👏🏻
Particularly interesting to me as I lived in Gloucester for many years and saw the sunken ships gradually deteriorate. I have passed the wrecks of the two barges from the train going to Cardiff but I have never seen them from the air so that was a real treat. I had no idea how much was left of the superstructure on them. What a tragic terrifying incident it was and how useful that railway bridge crossing the Severn would be now. I think they had refurbished it shortly before the accident. Many thanks.
You're so welcome, it's good to hear from a local who's been there too Marilyn! Such a fascinating place, with so many stories to tell. Glad we were able to show you the view from above after all this time.
That was indeed an interesting place to explore. I enjoyed the drone footage of the area. The history of the place was fascinating. Thanks Caroline and Pete. Season’s Greetings. See you soon.
Glad you enjoyed it Heidi! We were so glad the wind had dropped enough to safely fly the drone. I think it’s some of the best footage Pete has got so far. 😊
Incredible drone footage and a really informative vlog on the Parton Hulks and Severn Railway Bridge - video was worth waiting for Caroline but I can understand why Pete wanted it out earlier! Merry Christmas !
Cracking vlog guy's. So many sea walls around the country have seen the last resting place of many old barges but they are still doing an important job. Some great photography and super aerial work from Pete. Stay safe 🙏.
I have to echo Gill’s comment here. This vlog was amazing. Fantastic drone footage by Pete, the sad to see ships graveyard and Poppy and a Hamish both going for the ball. What’s not to love!! Peres comment was funny too ‘yeah I can see trees, and fields and pylons’ 😂. Have a fantastic Christmas. Wish I was with you all. Love from me and mum xx
High praise indeed! I still don't like listening to my voice on the voiceovers! This has to be some of the nest drone footage Pete has got so far I think, I you will know long I was looking for just the right music. Hamish almost decided to play with that ball too, almost! A very merry Christmas to you and your mum, and see you in the New Year 🎉
This is a lovely video. The ships are very interesting and the drone footage was great. (You've probably heard we're having a drone panic over here.) The golden hour is the best time of the day. I hope the remains of the boats have helped keep the canal and river separated. Have a wonderful Christmas! ❤
So happy you enjoyed it Dorothy. I was excited to put Theo’s one out as I lived editing it, especially finding the perfect music for the drone footage, and the golden hour photos. I’ve been reading about the drone panic over there! Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025, and thank you for your wonderful comments every single time 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard The drone stuff is so silly. People are calling stars and aircraft "drones" and of course when people started talking about it every person with a drone decided to participate. Merry Christmas. ❤
Very interesting. Very well put together too. Love the drone footage and stunning music too. Well done. And of course your gorgeous doglets Hamish does so well. What a great age bless him. Every best wish for Christmas and a fabulous New Year too ❤🎉
Many thanks Trevor! I was so pleased with how this video turned out. I spent quite a while finding the best music to show off Pete’s drone footage. Hamish really is doing well for his age and we are thankful for every extra day we have with him now. Hope you had a very merry Christmas 😊🎄
Wow! That was terrific. I love the black & white shots of the worn timbers in the ships graveyard and Pete's fantastic drone footage. It's a strangely moving and melancholic story; but well told and illustrated. I, too, have to echo Gill's comments. That was excellent. Thank you both. I hope you have a happy and safe Christmas.
Thank you so much Neil, high praise indeed! we were so excited to get this one out there and it's been so lovely having such great feedback form everyone. Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2025 🎄
❤WoW this was truly a lovely video. I’m watching it again the second time, I caught it this morning before I went to service, where the advent calendar this Sunday was Joy… which is what we have in Jesus happiness is what we make it and people get the two words mixed up you choose Joy, and you two bring a lot of happiness. I literally cried on your wonderful photography and Petes with the drone…I have seen those boats before but you have gotten so good especially this last month like I said I’m following along. (This week I just got to watch )I thought I got the book but they sent me the map. It’s not as easy so now I’m gonna have to look for the Nicholson guide book… you have turned into quite the documentary and that’s what I love the videos you have been making lately… Absolutely superb and breathtaking between you and Pete with your commentary you got it down I do believe this canal and your trip on it with my most favorite since I’ve been watching you and I’ve seen all your videos… thank you Merry CHRISTmas Samn in Oregon
What a wonderful comment to wake up too! Thank you so much. Wow what wonderful feedback! I’ve been so excited about putting this one out. The drone footage always adds so much more I think, and of course I spent far more time than necessary like I always do finding the perfect music to show it off. Thank you so much and merry Christmas 😊🎄

We had never heard of them either, and were so glad we had a chance to explore so close to 'home'. The history surrounding the tunnel is fascinating too, and quite remarkable that it's still taking trains 150 years after they started construction. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Wow, high praise indeed Gail! Thank you so much. Not a great place to spend Christmas Susan, so sorry to hear that your mum is still in hospital. Wishing her a speedy recovery. Keep showing her the videos and tell her we said hello and get well soon 😊❤️
Yes a very sad story that resulted in the demolition of the bridge, as it was not economically viable to repair. All rail traffic then went through the existing tunnel and the 2 Severn bridges that we see today opened in 1966 and 1996. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed it 😊
Hamish is reaching the lifespan of that breed of dog. Without wishing to upset you, I am curious whether you will get another of the same type when he finally goes to sleep, to keep Poppy company? I don't know how dogs react to a family member not being there anymore when they grew up with them. Feel free to delete this message if it is offensive, I don't mean to be, its just something I've always wanted to ask a dog owner.
Not offensive at all and happy to answer. You’re right, the life expectancy of westies is 13-15 years, so we are thankful for every day we have with Hamish now he is slowing down and showing his age. Our first westie was Jasper, who you see on the montage at the end of all of our videos. We had to say a sad goodbye to him in November 2022 when he had very aggressive mouth cancer, but he was 15 so had lived a long and good life full of adventure. Our youngest Poppy has really kept Hamish company and keeps him young for sure. We can’t imagine how he would have been when we lost Jasper if Poppy wasn’t around. We have already said that we think Poppy will be happy being an only dog one day when Hamish goes. We have so many boat friends with dogs that she’s never short of playmates now. Thanks for watching 😊
