@@EvilNeil187 A 500cc bike with a 130lb rider will have roughly the hp to weight ratio (and acceleration) as a 180hp Miata. No motorcycle will have the basic stability of a car and motorcycles have the added complexity of a clutch as well as independent front and rear brake controls. 500cc is not a crazy fast bike at all (especially if you are coming from a fast car) but there's a lot more for the rider to do when riding a bike and 500cc is comparable to a somewhat quick car. A 300cc bike is close to a "sport" Sentra/Altima so although it's not "fast" it may feel "sporty" enough and let you learn how to control a bike while giving you the comfort to twist the throttle as hard as you want (how good are you at controlling yourself). It really depends on your perception of "fast" with regard to how much bike you feel comfortable with. IMO, many new riders crash when they panic and sometimes the panic comes with speed/acceleration and it's always tempting to twist that right wrist. My first bike was 500cc but the car I had previous to that was 400hp so a 500cc felt "slow" (no panic). I enjoy the bike as there is plenty to master and it is a good choice to start on because it takes time and miles to begin learning good habits. I also started with years of experience on a manual transmission (rev matching and shifting) so that helped too. 500cc (40-50hp) is not a crazy idea but I'd put a little thought into if it's a good fit for your experience and comfort level. Hope this isn't too long, I had the same questions when picking a first bike because everyone says "get a small bike".

How's it going man. Very clean bike, I just purchased all the parts to install a custom license plate mount as well for when i take off the rear fender. One thing i was curious about was weather or not my custom muffler will be able to mount back up to the bike once i remove the rear fender or does it mount to the rear fender?
rebel has a bracket that attaches to the frame that holds your exhaust, removing the fender does not remove that bracket. some exhausts like the shorty GP do not need the exhaust bracket so you can remove it entirely.
Hello, I would just like to ask, since you removed the beck fender, did you have any problems where you get your back dirty from riding the bike? And have you rode it in the rain? Thinking of removing the back fender with my rebel but I am a bit worried about that since I use it as a commuter to work. Thanks and more power to your channel.
@@EvilNeil187 Thank you for answering, How about your back getting dirty because of the removal of the backfender even when it doesnt rain, does it happen?
The 500? Sure all day long with ease..the 300 ( 2017 and newer that is) well..she buzzes pretty loudly at 55 and above and maxes out on flats at 77 mph 75 sustained....so...I'd say no for the 300, speaking from experience that is.
:) fast enough for me! I love my Rebel 500 in town for bar hopping and leisure back road trips! Great easy maneuvering in town light weight bike has enough power for normal riding, :) Looks sexy too! Women love my bike how it looks ;)
Not gonna lie I didnt even know you were from this area. I take 31 every day for tech and it never even crossed my mind that you could potentially be out there. Next year I'll be picking up a rebel for my first bike, would you recommend the 300 or 500? Love what you're doing man👌🏼
I DEFINITELY recommend you get the rebel 500 unless you know beyond the shadow of a doubt you'll rarely get on the interstate highways. 300 owner here and I can tell you from experience even after breaking her in properly, she buzzes big time at 55mph and beyond. Max speed of 77 on flats with 210 pound full geared rider. My 300 is happiest at a max of 50 or below in 6th gear. ( 286cc engine is in the 300) That 471cc engine in the rebel 500 ( same as cbr500r, cb500r, cb500x) is JUST right for realistic safe interstate highway speeds WHILE still getting great gas mileage if you're easy enough on the throttle and maintain your speeds consistently enough.
Dude, you seem like a cool cat...I'd have a beer with you! Also, I love your rear fender delete! Wish you could work on mine, do you mind coming up to Canada!? Lol. Cheers man!
Going 90 indicated is not that big a deal on interstates and highways in most metro areas. It's not unusual where I live for the main body of traffic to be moving at 80 (indicated) with occasional slow cars going 70-75 (70mph speed zones) and fast traffic going 85-90. I would consider a bike like this to be the bare minimum for 5 - 10 minute interstate hops, but not suitable for anything extended (how's it gonna be after an hour at 75mph on that bike). I would def recommend the Honda 500s (not just Rebel) over the crop of 250-300cc beginner 'sportbikes' for a commuter who has to hit the interstate with any regularity though.
I got couple questions! What jacket is that? Is the arm reach with your handle bar mod shorter or any different? Is your license plate mount a kit or custom made? Love your bike man, looks sick. I’m trying to do something similar with my rebel
1. Jacket is viking cycle Incognito 2. I would say its narrower and slightly lower there is a install vid on the bars 3. Plate mount is custom and I have a vid on how I made it along with links to everything I used and a template for my design.
If you have a leg inseam measurement of longer than say..28 inches, it's a high chances you'll be alittle or pretty cramp. 32" inseam here and I speak from daily experience that I am sometimes cramped, but It was my first bike and I was in a hurry to get on two wheels but DIDN'T want to start on a sport bike for my first motorcycling experience. I wish they, HOnda, would have just fabricated an extension bracket to extend forward even 4 inches for both the foot peg and gear selector as well as the foot peg and rear brake pedal on both sides. That would have made a WORLD of comfort difference. And that stock seat is pure crap to be honest. AFter 30 minutes straight of nonstop riding, you'll start feeling it some. I don't regret my purchase, but I'm saving up for my upgrade to trade her in or sell her.
Smitty33 no, but mustang made a seat for the Rebel, and the reviews are awesome. Went to the site when another owner told me about it, and they are completely sold out. No stock whatsoever.

Do you think this bike feels good riding for 2 hours or so on highway? Btw do these bikes have a passenger seat? Sorry if my questions are dumb
2 hours on the highway no problem, you can put a passenger seat on, I took my whole rear fender off so that's not an option for me lol
EN187 thanks!
@@EvilNeil187 ah okay thanks, thats what i was not sure about, whether or not they were connected
Hello, I would just like to ask, since you removed the beck fender, did you have any problems where you get your back dirty from riding the bike? And have you rode it in the rain? Thinking of removing the back fender with my rebel but I am a bit worried about that since I use it as a commuter to work. Thanks and more power to your channel.
yeah if its rain your gunna get soaked for sure lol but it looks cool
@@EvilNeil187 Thank you for answering, How about your back getting dirty because of the removal of the backfender even when it doesnt rain, does it happen?
The 500? Sure all day long with ease..the 300 ( 2017 and newer that is) well..she buzzes pretty loudly at 55 and above and maxes out on flats at 77 mph 75 sustained....so...I'd say no for the 300, speaking from experience that is.
Yeah I can see that a 300 might struggle, 500 handles it easy tho
Do you still have the z125? If so, more vids on it plz. Thanks man
I do! I actually have alot of vids waiting to be edited on that
EN187 awesome man, glad to hear you still have it. Looking forward to seeing the vids.
What kind of phone mount is this??
Ram mount
:) fast enough for me! I love my Rebel 500 in town for bar hopping and leisure back road trips! Great easy maneuvering in town light weight bike has enough power for normal riding, :) Looks sexy too! Women love my bike how it looks ;)
yup its perfect!
I’m excited to hear the Rebel with some headers!
They are on the way!
How in the hell did u get it to 90 I have a 500 to I can only get it to 80????? How???
how much do you weigh? it goes 90 easily I am about 187 lbs
I'm 200 pounds i had mine 100 mpg
I love that bike

TOP SPEEEEDDD! When I get some more miles and do my 1st oil change, we will try n max her out
Gorgeous bike you got there
Thank you!
Not gonna lie I didnt even know you were from this area. I take 31 every day for tech and it never even crossed my mind that you could potentially be out there. Next year I'll be picking up a rebel for my first bike, would you recommend the 300 or 500? Love what you're doing man👌🏼
500 all day man, enough power for whatever you need, you would quickly find a 300 lacking
( 286cc engine is in the 300)
That 471cc engine in the rebel 500 ( same as cbr500r, cb500r, cb500x) is JUST right for realistic safe interstate highway speeds WHILE still getting great gas mileage if you're easy enough on the throttle and maintain your speeds consistently enough.
Fun vid. What’s your buddy driving in this post?
06 Honda cbr1000rr
If my 2002 rebel 250 can do 75, then this will do it no problem.
it does 2EZ
That the 300?
500
What Bluetooth communicator do you use?
Sena I have a 20s
You have it connected to the go pro?
Love going to Tip a Few
TIP A FEW HOME OF THE WET ONE! hahahahahha
Dude, you seem like a cool cat...I'd have a beer with you! Also, I love your rear fender delete! Wish you could work on mine, do you mind coming up to Canada!? Lol. Cheers man!
Bromance is real
I’ve done 95 on highway
yes!
I would def recommend the Honda 500s (not just Rebel) over the crop of 250-300cc beginner 'sportbikes' for a commuter who has to hit the interstate with any regularity though.
yeah the 500 rebel can maintain 80+ mph easily for extended periods easily
The Bike is looking Awesome👍👌, there has been a good amount of raining here in texas but I'm getting to ride more compared to last year..lol
Same here, lots of rain lately, I take every chance I can to get out.
Is that a 300?
500
seeing the sports bike take off makes me want to go for those insread of cruisers haha
hahaha yeah they are both fun for different reasons, Glad I still got the z1000
Gotta have multiple bikes to scratch all the itches I got
All those pot holes are scary lol
Michigan is the worst LOL
EN187 😂😂😂
I got couple questions!
What jacket is that?
Is the arm reach with your handle bar mod shorter or any different?
Is your license plate mount a kit or custom made?
Love your bike man, looks sick. I’m trying to do something similar with my rebel
1. Jacket is viking cycle Incognito 2. I would say its narrower and slightly lower there is a install vid on the bars 3. Plate mount is custom and I have a vid on how I made it along with links to everything I used and a template for my design.
Your knees look high up on the tank, with you being so tall is it a comfortable ride?
Yeah feels fine to me, we did 2-3 hrs that day and I didnt get uncomfortable
Did u change your seat out??
Do you recommend for everyday use ?
oh yes for sure, it a great daily rider, easy to ride, good gas mileage and enough power to get ya around on the highways if you need!
What exhaust did you put on, sounds nice?!
Radient GP Shorty, I have a install vid with link, I am putting a new exhaust on soon Lextek CP8C with full headers, will have install video soon
Did a 750 mile trip on my 500 no problem. My ass on the other hand begged to differ.
Have you done anything to your seat since than you make the ride more comfortable?
Smitty33 no, but mustang made a seat for the Rebel, and the reviews are awesome. Went to the site when another owner told me about it, and they are completely sold out. No stock whatsoever.
The ole GR to Holland highway LOL
yEAHHH! They got that thing tore up right now!
When you said "okay google play pandora" my phone played pandora😂😂

@@EvilNeil187 all of sudden I hear music playing😂
