I got my red one yesterday, let my dad take around and he said the handling and center of gravity of the bike was insane. And he’s rode Harley 1200’s for years. He was shocked from this 1100
Yeah! I got lucky. Dude withdrew his deposit a day ago so I went and swooped it up lol. It was the last one they had in Utah for the time being. But like you said, the bike feels like it wants to eat them turns. It’s incredible
Thank you for not pandering about specs and just talking about the riding experience, this is the video i've been waiting for. Pulling the trigger on mine soon!
Coming from a Harley 883 and 1200 Custom this bike is a blast! Bought the Dct and love it. Needs forward controls and Mustang seat. It’s a steal at 10,000.
"Tired of reviews from magazines that don't spend time on the bikes...." and gives us a review of the bike he rode home from the dealer just last night, lol! And he hasn't opened it up, spent hours in the seat, or been up and down any Twisties or distance riding. But hey, it's a great first impressions review.
Just bought mine. Manual model in Bordeau Red. It's still in the crate but she's beautiful. The accessories will be a week or so coming in. Discovered the Canadian bikes come with passenger seat and foot pegs standard!
The heavier front end you mentionned at around 8:00 is probably because of the 18in wheel. The overall diameter of wheel + tire is probably bigger than on the 500 so it has more inertia and you have to apply more force on the bars to turn the wheel. Just my guess. Awesome review dude. I love this bike since Honda announced it and I am so happy that you're gonna ride and review it with all honesty. You earned a sub
Couple of notes. The forks appear blue in sunlight due to the nitride coating. Manufactures, Honda especially, tend not to put much effort into stock exhausts because they know most people will change them anyway. It's designed to meet EPA requirements and aesthetics are a last minute thing.
How is the speed compared to the 500? I have the 500 currently and actually really enjoy how light it is, and it can keep up with most cruisers without an issue. But for some reason I am still considering getting an 1100.
Great review. You should easily be able to adjust the rebound on suspension to dampen things up over bumps. Find a good suspension tuner who will test your static sag and adjust all 3 settings.
This bike is fully adjustable? I haven't seen the actual specs for all that? I can tune it, I don't need a guy but what do you exactly mean by 3 settings?
@@crp9985 if you have piggyback shocks you should have settings to adjust preload, compression and rebound. Usually there will be knobs to adjust rebound and compression, preload is usually done with a spanner wrench on the bottom of the spring. Of course this may vary with each brand but that is the most common setup. I am not sure if the front suspension is adjustable on that bike.
Well the DTC is good so peoples with some mailfunction (amputation and such) left leg so they can't use the gir shifter so don't be angry for that and Honda have done it possible so function fresh peoples and none can drive so this is nice :) i my self have no issues with if it is manual gear or automatic still i shoose the DTC because i am lazy :) I learned this from my ATV who have this all atv's have this DTC almost so this is a good ting.
I like the blacked out everything. The no chrome is an attraction to me. I agree with you on the exhaust. They could have went with dual exhaust. You've definitely got another follower and I'll be watching as many videos you make that are on the 1100 rebel.
I have a Triumph Bonneville SpeedMaster, I use rain mode when ever I’m beach-side cruising or in crowded slow traffic areas. Rain Mode calms the throttle response and makes it much easier to hold a steady slow speed. My bike only has rain and normal mode though, and normal is not tame.
The harsh suspension you mentioned on the highway may be because it's in sport mode. On my Goldwing, sport mode stiffens the suspension as well as adjusts the throttle control.
Interested to see if playing with the suspension settings helped with the high speed bumps... that's the only thing that would put me off purchasing this bike.
Funny you mention that about the seat. I ride the 500 and I find every time I come to a light I have to stand up and push myself back in the seat cuz I've always scooted forward😂
I had that same problem so I made a simple jig that raised my front seat clamp 1 inch higher. Can't tell it is there by looking, I don't slide forward anymore and it is actually more comfortable. Used a simple metal outlet cover you can buy at Home Depot, a hacksaw, a sturdy vise, some black electrical tape and about 15 minutes of my time. I sat on a 1100 and really like the way it felt.Far more comfortable than the rebel. I am saving my bucks now for one.
Loved the look of the 500 and wished they made a bigger one and here it is I will be getting one and it will probably be my last petrol bike we only have 9 years left in the uk for petrol my first bike was the 200 rebel so it would be right to finish on this and this looks like an excellent modern choice. Will be happy after it hits the time test of at least a year, bought a new remodelled guzzi when it first came out and won't do that again. Will be looking out for your other vids.
I just got the 2022 version a few days ago (Metallic Brown color). Traded in my 2018 Rebel 500 to get it. Apparently, I am one of the first ones to get that year model (DEFINITELY first one at that dealership). Almost everything you've said in this video and some others has been pretty accurate! There were a few other things I didn't expect too. The clutch response caught me off guard the most. It was the easiest clutch lever I've EVER used! After the test drive, I fell in love and HAD to take it home!
@@oldstarouijaboard42 it's not a myth. The only part that's a myth is that they use lubricant when they make the tires. Tires are a bit more slippery when new but not because of some lubricant. Tire needs to go through some hot/cold cycles to finish curing, and that's the "break in" period.
The rear suspension is a problem for most cruiser models due to limited travel range. You need to slow down on pot holes and be prepared to be thrown out of your seat at high speed.
Given that he's been riding the 500 for a while now, I'd say the suspension might need some adjustment. I believe he'd be used enough to that cruiser behaviour by now to be able to tell whether that's just the expected behaviour of if there's something wrong. But who knows...

Yup, absolutely! Check out On The Rebel 11’s channel for some great resources on that. He’s about the same height as you and settled on 4” adjustable Rox risers after first trying their 2” and 3” models I believe. He has a full install video showing that no line/wire extensions are needed, he just had to reroute the brake line I believe. I’m sure it’ll be a big help for what you need 👌🏻
Thanks Bro for what you're doing. And turning me on to Rebel 11's channel. I don't have the Rebel yet.... in the 70's Honda had created the perfect motor in the 750 Four. And looking to pick up the Rebel 1100 next. I searched for a comparison of the Iron 1200 Sportster Vs. the Rebel 1100. It was a good side by side comparison of the 2022 Rebel and the 2023 Iron 1200 Sportster. The 2023 Sporty is made by KAWASAKI?? Who Knew? Thank you again.

I’m a Harley rider but, there is something about this bike I like. I would want a Saddlemen seat and some forward controls. There is not many after market parts for this bike yet so, I may come back and take a closer look latter in the year. Good review!
Hi, great video! I am worried about rear shocks on bumpers, did something like that happened to you also with the 500? Are you going to install aftermarket dampers? If so, please let us updated on improvements, thank you very much! 😃👍
Love this review! New rider currently on a rebel 250... was gonna get the 500 next but I’ve been DROOLING over the 1100 and considering getting it and starting in rain mode?
Nice job on the review! Manual ftw! I found the Rebel 500 painfully cramped for my 6'1" frame, not sure the 1100 is a big enough upsize. And in Canada the pricing seems odd for this bike. The manual It is within $1K of the Triumph Speedmaster, so would be a tough sell, for me anyway... Lastly, when pulling away from a stop, left foot on the ground, right foot on the brake and you'll never have a problem on a hill or in the case you have to suddenly abort take off for any reason. Always makes me cringe seeing bikers with both feet on the ground when pulling away from a stop.
Good vlog, awaiting here in the UK for them to hit the dealerships, have arranged with mine as soon as they are in I am test riding one, look forward to see your exhaust change.
I will watch all these 1100 rebel videos over and over till i see mine in my driveway in May, then ill still watch them, thanks a lot Burch, keep em coming! cant wait for exhaust vid
Best review yet mate...from a normal guy who loves his bike..im looking for my next bike and you have just convinced me...well played sir.👍 dont worry about the suspension it was you and the bikes first ride...needs to bed in ..it will settle.
You have to be silent for few minutes so that we can hear the sound of the engine and exhaust. A good review means you to concentrate on everything. Anyway thanks.
I'm going to be a first time motorcycle rider. And after extensive research, I had decided on the Honda Rebel. You have made it so much easy to let me know I have made a good choice on my future purchase. Hopefully in about a month I'll have one.
@@daveyboots79 no the 500. I’ve seen all your reviews of the 300/500/1100. I was going to go for the 300. But keep hearing I’ll get tired of it after 3 months. So I’m going to start with the 500.
I have a rebel 500 and just test drove the 1100 DCT. And WOW it’s a rocket. Like seriously too fast for safety and tickets lol from 0-70 it GOES. I didn’t like I couldn’t use the clutch and manual gears honestly as when riding I want to be focused and riding in tune the gears. It felt just as easy to drive and turn as the 500 and the extra weight doesn’t seem a hinderance but it’s actually better on highways with the extra weight and it’s low so not top heavy so anyone height under 6ft or females could ride it. Im waiting to make a decision on getting one until the manual transmission one comes in. But excited!!!!!!!
I’m not sure why they keep pushing automatics it’s weird to me and it’s not just motorcycles it’s sports cars , pickup trucks , semi trucks and I will always prefer to row through my own gears , to me it’s part of the experience and control. New subscriber here.👍👍 I ride an 1984 Honda V65 Sabre it’s still running strong and reliable you just can’t go wrong when you choose a Honda.
A very comprehensive and honest review, mate! I took a test ride on the DCT version as the manual one was not available. The DCT version was somewhat weird especially when leaving from the traffic lights. The bike kind of kicked of at a higher speed than I gave it throttle. The dealer assumed it is the characteristics of the DCT. I definitely also prefer the manual transmission. The DCT was not my cup of tea. I look forward to getting the manual version for a spin.
It’s crazy that you mentioned that I am a experienced rider. last Thursday I had a issue with that to the point that it shot me into a car. I’m good just a little sore but I’m glad it was me instead of my wife cause it’s her bike.
Damn honestly can’t believe they came out with a 1100. I remember looking at the 500 rebel in 2017. I was a fan but there was always something missing I couldn’t figure. I think this generation fixes it all..
It’s crazy how far bikes have come. I have a 94 Shadow 1100 with almost 77,000 miles and I never understood why Honda discontinued the Shadow 1100 series. Maybe this is just me being an “old” fuddy but in my opinion why not leave the Rebel the “small” bike and bring back the Shadow with this motor. It’s a sick bike though but I honestly don’t know if I could imagine riding a bike with all of that technology and modes. Again, just my personal opinion. It’s a sick bike though for sure but I’ll have to take a test drive before I form a final opinion. Thanks for the very thorough review!
Because a Shadow is for riders and wrenchers, the Rebel (just like the Kawa 650S) mostly for posers that need "mechanics" to service ther sunny sunday posing machine.
From the home land of Honda :) Great review! I'm expecting another one after you've done more miles on the suspension. Usually, it works better after some miles than initial runs.
Thanks for taking the time to make a comprehensive review Im looking to get one in the Uk sometime soon......one criticism (no offence intended) please please stop overusing the word "like", it either is or it isnt.
@@LifeOfBurch I've been wanting to get into riding and the first day I started searching for bikes, the 1100 was released. I was set on the 500, but I was heavily interested in the 1100. I didn't know if I could handle the power but rain mode is reassuring. Great freaking review
Great video very clear and informative. I own the 2017 500 which I love for all the same reasons of the 1100 including the lean and turn factor.I do believe this is one bike for all riding. (Still would like an enduro) Time to upgrade to the 1100
(Hears mileage) Nice...lol 3 questions. Do the riding modes affect MPG in any major way? How is the stock head light? ( I'm a night shift guy, so my regular daily ride happens after 10pm lol) Lastly, how does your lower back fair after rides? (short and long) My back isn't what it used to be, darn youth escaping me, but I didn't have any particular issues with the 250ish CC Honda Nighthawk we used for 9hrs a day in training.
New subscriber to your channel. Looking forward to the content. Sold my bike 15 years ago and just bought the DCT 1100. It’s an unbelievable bike. My wife wants to ride but we can’t get a seat for it yet. Ready to see your Vance and Hines review. Hoping it’s not too over the top because although the sound of the stock 1100 is amazing, the exhaust isn’t very pretty lol
I often take my Smax scooter on highway, never been blown by a wind or when going near 18 wheelers. And Smax is only 155cc scooter. Goes 70 MPH effortlessly!
Thank you for the review. I was waiting for this motorbike to consider buy one. I have decided I shall go for a second hand CB1100 RS or EX now for about the same money.
Those air/oil cooled CB1100's will go on forever if you look after them, i'm tempted to get one aswell, some matey round my ways got one with twin arrow cans and its sounds amazing.
Great review - very envious as the Rebel is still months away here in the UK - but really useful preparation for the test ride whenever I get that chance.
I’m hoping at some point you put it side to side by your 500 if you didn’t trade it in. I’m about to tune into your video I’ve been kind of waiting for this one. I actually bought a Bolt but still really like these Rebels.
Thanks for the video. The bike looks great. Thank goodness you got a manual one. I’m sure the DCT one is ok, but I’m just not interested in it. I look forward to more videos of the Rebel. New sub!
Congrats dude ! You already have it. Nice review, this is the version I plan to buy too. So it feels more powerful than the Rebel 500 ? Well it almost doubles the HP number !
I know you made this video three years ago, but I’ve been heavily researching this motorcycle because I’m considering upgrading to it. The only thing that concerns me is the digital display. How well does it function in cooler weather? I’m talking around 40°. I can’t seem to find anything online about peoples experience with driving around in colder temperatures. I’m over in Pennsylvania and we’ve already had mornings where it was 45° and I rode my 2007 Suzuki Blvd to work so ideally, I would like to still be able to do that with this bike if I choose to get it, but I’m concerned about the digital display. If you have any experience, would love to hear it.
Man, I was thinking this was the perfect bike for my situation until the suspension came up. There isnt a highway, backroad or city street around me that doesnt have serious pro lems with potholes and tar snakes and construction going on. I havent ridden a bike in 40 years, indeed something with great suspension...any suggestions? Thanks for the great and honest review.

Nice review, I have a 2017 sv650 that I love to death. However when I was getting it I was looking at the rebel 500 too. Only cruiser I ever liked. And the 1100 has been catching my eye too. Though I probably wont change my bike its still awesome to see how the Rebel is doing.
congrats! honestly...i have the 2020 rebel 500,with new leds etc ...and 1 year after i wouldnt upgrade to a 1100cc rebel , i can hear a voice in my head telling me that is time for a ride style change....the z900 kawasaki, or maybe the rs triple street...i dont know yet...but the rebel 500 is amazing so far...i will miss her when shes gone. i need more adrenaline...i guess i found am a sport bike man. safe ride!
One hell of a bike. I bought my 2019 last summer and have put 6000 miles on it so far. Wonderful wonderful machine. But plan a budget for a Corbin seat.
How stiff is the clutch pull? Any jerkiness when switching lower gears? Good feedback on the clutch lever on the foot? Easy to find neutral? Would have been nice if your video covered these questions since it's specific to the manual transmission. Otherwise great video!
thx for video, I still don't know should I go with dct or manual, just cause of city traffic jams. Otherwise I really like bikes with a manual transmission, but sometimes it annoys me in stop and go situations in big cities

Hi, great video! I am worried about rear shocks on bumpers, did something like that happened to you also with the 500? Are you going to install aftermarket dampers? If so, please let us updated on improvements, thank you very much! 😃👍
I got the black one, and now I use it everyday, I love riding
maybe the clutch lever is adjustable but the dealer replaced it with a regular one when it got bent from shipping.
As someone who rides with a lot of sports bikes on backroads. This bike was perfect for me. Had a DCT getting a manual (more fun)
Best review yet mate...from a normal guy who loves his bike..im looking for my next bike and you have just convinced me...well played sir.👍 dont worry about the suspension it was you and the bikes first ride...needs to bed in ..it will settle.
Glad you finally got yours. Welcome to the club. Nice job on the video.
"I did not just do that in my break in period" . . . .:)
You're planning on the first bike you ride being an 1100cc..? Hot tip, get health insurance
@@daveyboots79 no the 500. I’ve seen all your reviews of the 300/500/1100. I was going to go for the 300. But keep hearing I’ll get tired of it after 3 months. So I’m going to start with the 500.
So how's that going?
There were Shadows that were 1100 but they stopped making them. Honda is bring back the 1100 in the Rebel form.
Laughed pretty good at your "Harley Guys" joke around 22:30. Subscribed just for your sense of humor.
So glad you're getting the recognition you deserve. It was definitely worth the risk and going all out!
Thank you!! I’m so happy I decided to take a risk and jump on getting this bike when I did!
@@LifeOfBurch I've been wanting to get into riding and the first day I started searching for bikes, the 1100 was released. I was set on the 500, but I was heavily interested in the 1100. I didn't know if I could handle the power but rain mode is reassuring. Great freaking review
Glad you're enjoying the bike man. You're making me want to trade in my 500 for an upgrade😩
Same here!! 1100 is in my future 😎
Great video very clear and informative. I own the 2017 500 which I love for all the same reasons of the 1100 including the lean and turn factor.I do believe this is one bike for all riding. (Still would like an enduro) Time to upgrade to the 1100
Suggest you include bike specs on your next vid. i.e., weight, seat height, final drive (chain, shaft...) and so on.
Goes 70 MPH effortlessly!
nice!!! gonna keep an eye on you with this bike. All your comments of the bike, reminds me of my Triumph Bobber Black.
Thank you for doing this. I want a rebel 1100. I don’t want the dual clutch transmission. Subscribed.
I’m hoping at some point you put it side to side by your 500 if you didn’t trade it in. I’m about to tune into your video I’ve been kind of waiting for this one. I actually bought a Bolt but still really like these Rebels.
The Bolt is a good looking bike. And I usually don't care for cruisers.
Nice! Can’t wait till they hit the stores in Aus.
The video earned you a new subscriber 🤗 I’m here for all the content
Thank you!! You’re the best! 🤘🏻
Can't wait for spring 2022 to trade my 500 in for the 1100 (manual as well).
Bought the dct. ABSOLUTELY love it!
STAY HOME...
Try Bonnie's
I’m 6’3 280lbs...how would this bike fit me?
That's also a scary thought getting thrown off from a bumb in the road wow, lol hang on tight That's why i love your videos with myself looking for a bike and your very honest, helps alot TY
Nice review, I have a 2017 sv650 that I love to death. However when I was getting it I was looking at the rebel 500 too. Only cruiser I ever liked. And the 1100 has been catching my eye too. Though I probably wont change my bike its still awesome to see how the Rebel is doing.
If I was to upgrade from the 21 500 I have, I'd definitely go for the 1100
congrats! honestly...i have the 2020 rebel 500,with new leds etc ...and 1 year after i wouldnt upgrade to a 1100cc rebel , i can hear a voice in my head telling me that is time for a ride style change....the z900 kawasaki, or maybe the rs triple street...i dont know yet...but the rebel 500 is amazing so far...i will miss her when shes gone. i need more adrenaline...i guess i found am a sport bike man. safe ride!
My heart, and wallet, is set on a Kawasaki Vulcan S - but this also looks like a great bike!
Congratulations on your new ride. :D
have you seen the all white vulcan s with bright baby blue accents.......so nice
@@fastasaflash1929 I think that's the worst looking one they've ever done xD
Going for the flat greystone & red
@@_Meriwether 😂damn. I like it. its wierd and not normal!
One hell of a bike. I bought my 2019 last summer and have put 6000 miles on it so far. Wonderful wonderful machine. But plan a budget for a Corbin seat.
The sound of this bike is *chefs kiss* 🤌
How stiff is the clutch pull? Any jerkiness when switching lower gears? Good feedback on the clutch lever on the foot? Easy to find neutral? Would have been nice if your video covered these questions since it's specific to the manual transmission. Otherwise great video!
Such an informative review! Thank you, keep filming!
thx for video, I still don't know should I go with dct or manual, just cause of city traffic jams. Otherwise I really like bikes with a manual transmission, but sometimes it annoys me in stop and go situations in big cities
