SOLVED! I reseted the remote control firmware to version 1.00 and the linking works fine without any manual linking procedures. To do that please conecht your RC to your smartphone and turn both on. Once connected you will see automatically the mavic air start page by the dji4go app. Press and hold the options button (the tree horizontal lines) in the top right button. Wait until a new window appears with firmware and update information. Downgrade and wait. After downgrading turn of the rc. Turn on the mavic air and after the dji sound the remote control as well. You will see the green button on the rc a few seconds later. Please reply if it worked for you too. Thanks
@@lucademaas1 Same problem here. When i want to downgrade its saying: "it takes 15 minutes to reinstall FW. During reinstallation, ensure the aircraft is connected and always powered on with the the battery over 30%. Do not exit or close DJI GO" But the problem is: i cant connect in the first place. Then how do i downgrade???
I got passed this by doing a bunch of things including 1) downgrading my RC firmware below latest 1.0 or 1.0.1 2) resetting my drone to factory settings 3) redownloading dji app and trying to connect at the initial screen 4) after resetting the drone a couple of times it finally appeared on wifi screen and then it worked via my RC Couldn’t have done without all the tips here!!
Just got my Mavic Air two days ago and I'm having the same problem. The unit will connect at times and then lose signal 20 seconds after taking off and then I'm trying to reconnect sometimes through a whole battery charge. I've reinstalled the firmware and I've deleted the phone app and reinstalled more then a few times now. I've played with this trying to get it to connect for hours and then it will connect only to disconnect again once in the air..its funny none of the reviews that I watched on Utube from the guys who tests this Mavic Air has said anything about this connection issue.....they only talked about how great this drone is....I've messed around with this thing all weekend long trying to figure it out...I did get in some flight time too but the unit disconected from the controller as much as I've flown it...I would not recommend anyone buy this Mavic Air with the problems it is having.
I've had a problem to connect with RC cable, solved it by connecting RC cable to my iphone last. Set everything up and only after everything connect the RC cable and wait 5 seconds. Hope it works for you!
I got the same problem, today had to link the drone to Rc, took a few attempts. Works, but after i turn off the RC and Close App. To change a fresh batts, i hvave to link again. Could be the cablr im using? Been using almost 4 months the same cheap cable (ios device)
Did you you fixed the problem of your RC , I bought mine yesterday and I have the same problem , this is my first drone and I'm first timer fly a drone , what to do Dji .
This solution worked for me (Mavic Air): 1. Turn on both drone and RC 2. Press the flickering yellow light on the drone for about 3 seconds until you hear a short beep 3. Press the pause button, the fn button and the button under the camera button (on the right handside) of the RC simultaneously for about 3 seconds until you hear a set of short beeps 4. The drone and the RC are connecting while you hear beeps between 10 and 30 seconds. Good luck!
Unfortunately, no. After contacting DJI support, they gave me a repair case number, but I'm outside the US and sending it is going to cost me more than it's worth. I'm waiting for the next firmware update to see if it fixes it. In case it doesn't, I would need to send it in on my next trip to the US. Really disappointed with this experience.

Mine just exhibited the same issue after flying just fine in US and PR. I think the latest FW update screwed it up for me! Same issue you're seeing. I will be downgrading the RC FW as Victor shares below.
I dont know if it was this but. I press the pairing bottom of the AC about 30sec turn it off, turn on the AC turn on the RC( with out any phone attached ) press the sinc bottom ( one bep) and the 3 bottoms of the RC and it pair. I really have been fighting wt this for 2 dead batteries. hope it work for you.

I've had my Mavic Air for a few months now and no problem...until today. Now mine is doing the above as well. For me, the problem didn't start until after I downloaded the Ryze Tello App a couple days ago and the Tello flew fine until today when craped out :( Then later today we had a sunset I wanted to capture with my Mavic Air. But no matter what I did, the Mavic Air wouldn't connect. :( Now I have TWO pricey paperweights
arrived this morning 4 flights now same problem NOT HAPPY will be contacting DJI very soon and they had better sort it. Its now several hours latter and i fixed the problem. I had put a micro sd card in that was not compatible

Same problem and I fixed it. SUPER EASY FIX. Here's what you do. MOVE. Move to a new location outside as far away as possible from any high tension (electrical) wires. Now try linking (connecting) again. If that doesn't work, restart everything, once again outside in a new location, and try again. Works for me everytime.

At least your aircraft its beeping! mine stop making the beep sound and can't link with the controller, i already send it to dji factory now im waiting to see how it goes! :/ i spent 100US to send the aircraft !!!! :(

Hi guys! I had the same problem and discovered that there is a problem with the remote control. At least in my case, if you enter the camera view with the controller turned on, and go to the Wi-Fi settings you will see what SparkRC says (and some numbers) you have to verify the name of the Wi-Fi signal of your Mavic air and change it, Do not forget to change the password too. so it match to the password that is on the drone, in the label next to the QR code.
Had the same problem soon as i got my unit. I called the dealer 2 days later since linking the unit to the controller was intermittent at best. Dealer requested i bring back the unit for inspection. Three weeks later, they sent me a brand new set. Credit goes to DJI for keeping their replacement warranties intact.

I had the same problem. I went to the local DJ repair service and they couldn't fix it. Then I went to this technician, it took it behind the wall and in two seconds fixed it! he didn't revealed to me how he did it….. But he said that it was because I changed the connection to the Wi-Fi. and also I heard the beeping behind the wall, so potentially understand how to fix it. so if the connection problem started after you used the smartphone to control the Mavic, then try this: turn on the Mavic and press the back button until you hear three beeps. only then try to link with the RC (as shown in the Instruction video). I'm not sure it will work, as I said that's what I heard happening behind the technician wall.
If you hold the back button until you hear 3 beeps, you are telling the drone to go into gesture mode (to control it with your hands only). I don't think that will be the solution to be honest

I remembered my rc didn't work correctly anymore after the latest update of the rc.
1.0100 is also fully operational.

I bought mine 3 days ago. Does the same thing then will randomly connect. Then next time i try use it i have to do the same thing all over again.
After firmware update things seem to be running smoothly and haven't had any issues since.

This solution worked for me (Mavic Air):

SOLVED - I reinstalled the app and used my iPhone charging cable from the RC to my iPhone and followed the instruction. It worked immediately.

It's not working for mine. I have tried in a field in the country.. and again in a different field 40 miles from previous location. Still not working

Insert or change a SD card. Missing or faulty SD card blocks the connection to the RC.

Maybe it was allready paired? In that case: Hold the button on the mavic untill it beeps twice. Should connect with the controller now.

So I made the mistake of pairing via wifi first.
If you've done the same, try to power off RC and drone and then back on again. This worked for me.
