My Dad was 85 and I was 30 when I got married... he had dementia and we weren't sure how "with it" he would be. So we danced to his favorite song: Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller. No matter how out of it he was, if we put on Glenn Miller he would come back to reality. He died less than 2 years later, I still listen to that song sometimes and remember that wonderful day
My dad played butterfly kisses for me as a little kid but we haven’t listened to or talked about it since then but I’ve always remembered. I’m going to surprise him with this as our dance song and he’s going to lose it ❤️ Can’t wait.
What a Wonderful World should be number one. It’s litetally the perfect song for any occasion. It would work just as well at a funeral as it would at a wedding, perfect for the couple or for the father and bride, a perfect lullaby, never will there be a more versatile song that manages to be so simple and sweet.
I’m so sorry :(. My mom passed away recently and I wish she could be at my wedding next month... Sending love to you, remember he will be watching and smiling at you from Heaven on your big day ❤️
@@shannonchampagne8898 Thank you so much!! That is so sweet of you. Thats the only thing that helps. I'll be praying for you!!! I hope you have a great wedding day!
Perhaps what you can do is: Film your remaining time with your Dad, and have it edited, and have it played it as you dance with either your brother(s) or male family member while you relive those final moments, and revisit memories you made with your Dad. Even play some of the conversation with your Dad about your wedding, and his favorite memories of you. God bless you and I pray your Dad does make it to your special day!
I'm not getting married soon, but I already have songs picked out for my father/daughter dances. With my bio-dad, I want to dance to "I Loved Her First" and with my step-dad, we'll be dancing to "Humble and Kind" because it has special significance to us.
My dad and I danced to I loved her first by Heartland ( the #2 pick) at my wedding I was a daddy’s girl from day 1. ❤️ My dad passed away shortly before my 1 year anniversary. It’s been almost 10 years and when that song comes on the radio I still have to pull my car over so I don’t crash because I am sobbing so hard. I love the song and I miss my dad. It was the perfect song for us to dance to. ❤️
Sorry for your loss. There are songs that do that to me too. One that always gets me is "How Can Help You To Say Good Bye?" I think it's a Patti Loveless song? It came out at the same time as my maternal grandma died (I was 12 at the time) and that song always gets me emotional 24 years later.
+Shannon Sowards- I loved her first is the song that I am thinking of dancing to with my dad when I get married some day. I have time to think about it though, because I dont even have a boyfriend right now and I am almost 29 years old.
Damn right Butterfly Kisses is first. I heard that song way back when I was a little girl in the 90s and said to myself, "THAT is what I am dancing to with my father when I get married!" about 20 years later that's exactly what I did.
We started with a little "Butterfly Kisses" as a joke, then jumped into "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "Wild Thing". Finished up with Joe Cocker and "You are so Beautiful", not a dry eye in the house.
When I finally get married, I want my dance with my dad to be “I loved her first”. At this point it makes me BAWL and I know it wouldn’t be any different that day. I’m just hoping that I get married before anything happens to my dad (he’s already 67 ) and I hope we will be able to dance, because with his arthritis, and the fact there is 5 pounds of brass in his knee, I don’t know if he will be able to. I have never really gotten to dance with my dad so it would mean everything to me. Knowing how stubborn dad is, no matter what he will probably at least try to dance with me. Love you daddy!
i agree with most of this list! however, Tim McGraw's My Little Girl should have been in the top 3!!! that was going to be the song i wanted to dance with my dad to at my wedding, but since he is no longer with us, i will still have it and dance to it with the other most important men in my life!!!
In exactly 1 month and 8 days from today (6/5/2019), on 7/13/2019, I'll be dancing to "My Little Girl" with my dad on my wedding day. I had it narrowed down to "Stealing Cinderella" (Chuck Wicks), "Ready Set Don't Go" (Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus), and "My Little Girl" (Tim McGraw). "My Little Girl" fits me and my dad more than the other two do.
My girls and son lost there dad 11 months ago I posted a video on facebook for them from another young lady in your shoes it's on facebook my name is Joanne Thayer and I posted it today I feel for your loss my kids 35 boy36 girl and girl 38 none r married yet check this video it's very special for you girls ,hang in there know dads always with you prayers and strength to you Joanne Thayer,
Sadly, we didn't have a Father/Daughter dance at my wedding, but if I had, I would have chosen "Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn. It's kind of the reverse of most of the songs on this list, as it's the observations of a father by his daughter. The song also fits MY father to a T; it could have been written about him. (Side note: I did have to laugh when I saw "Isn't She Lovely" on the list. Our first daughter was born 2 months after our 17th anniversary, so she was a long-time coming and an unexpected blessing. Neither my husband nor I had heard that song for YEARS...but then, less than a week after we found out we were having a girl, this song was playing EVERYWHERE! It popped up on the radio, in stores, even in a restaurant we ate at!)
He may not be the greatest person in the world but it's astonishing not to see Daughters by John Mayer on this list. That is one of the first Father/Daughter dance songs I think of.
I loved her first was my Father/daughter dance at my wedding. Listening to the Female “Mother” version of gets me in the feels as my 2 oldest daughters are both engaged
My dad and I walked down the aisle to I loved her first. As did my mom and grandfather due to him being there the first couple of years. My dad and I danced to my little girl.
Out of all the country songs you could have put on this list, how do you leave off My Wish by Rascal Flatts? That song conveys every father's desire for their daughter after they get married. "My Wish for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to."
my daughter just got married and danced to in my life by the Beatles because she knew how much her dad loves the Beatles and there wasn't a dry eye in the place
Sunrise, sunset from fiddler on the roof - is this the little girl i carried, is that the little boy at play. I don't remember getting older, when did they? My father/daughter dance song.
Cinderella by Steven Curtis? We were going to dance to my little girl but realized that the line about someone asking for her hand and him not being good enough just didn't seem appropriate for a wedding so we went with Cinderella. Also Stealing Cinderella is a good one too.
I fell in love with Butterfly Kisses when I first heard it and knew this was going to be my first dance song when my daughter got married. Alas, never had one. Oh well. Back to the list, I'd recommend Aerosmith's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" and Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." I'd lean towards the Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson version but ain't hating on John Legend and Ariana Grande.
I love My Little Girl by Tim McGraw, How Sweet It Is (To Be 😍 By You) by James Taylor, My Girl by The Temptations, Isn’t She 😊 and You Are the ☀️ Of My Life by Stevie Wonder, Stand By Me by Ben E. King, What A Wonderful 🌎 (my 5th grade👩🎓 Song) and Unforgettable by Nat King and daughter Natalie Cole, but where’s Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman?
I love both of my parents, but I am a daddy's girl and even though I am single, I still hope to find someone as great as my dad. He and I share a love for country music so it definitely be a classic country song (he doesn't like modern country since there's too much rock/pop in it now and you can't do a Texas two step to them). I'd pick #2 out of these, but I'd worry I would ruin my make up lol.
Father/daughter wedding dance songs It won’t be like this for long- Darius Rucker Do I make you Proud- Taylor Hicks Because you loved me- Celine Dion Greatest love of all- Whitney Houston For Good- Wicked I’m your Angel- R Kelly with Celine Dion I’ll stand by you Pretenders You Raise me up- Josh Groban Wind beneath my wings- Bette Midler Life is beautiful- The Afters
My daughter was just asked for her hand in marriage! She wants to dance to Steven Curtis Chapman’s song Cinderella! Surprised it didn’t make your list!
I Loved Her First should have been number one. I have more friends who know and love that song more than butterfly fly kisses. It's the perfect song to dance to with you dad. It's my daddy and daughter song choice when I get married
How on Earth could you not have Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman on this list?! That is the most emotional Father/Daughter dance song I have ever heard and it has been used at multiple weddings. I'm genuinely more than a little disappointed considering I suggested this list like 5 years ago and had a lot more songs that were suggested but didn't make it.
I know what you mean! My dad and I have been going to a Father & Daughter Winter Ball every year with my cousins and their dad and every year Cinderella and I Loved Her First play.
I’m a 24 year old woman who wants a slow dance with my dad and personally I might slow dance to I loved her first because me and my dad would listen to country songs as it was his weekend to take me (yes sadly my parents are divorced but that’s not gonna stop me from using that song)
My sister had her wedding not too long ago and our father wasn't able to do a father/daughter dance. But my sister and I did dance together to (Jump On It) by Sugarhill Gang. Fresh Prince Nostalgia!
I've got 5 older brothers & My girl has always bin me and my daddy's song they say he sang it at my christening I believe them cause he's bin singing it ever sins 😅😍😍
If I were a girl Father and Daughter by Paul Simon would be the song that I would want played at my wedding BTW did you know that Father And Daughter actually got nominated for an Oscar it’s the only Paul Simon song to get nominated
Who would have thought that, for their first film, one of the most underrated Nicktoons ever could come up with such a beautiful song that also gets nominated to an Academy Award for Best Original Song?
I'm not too sure about "My Girl" and "How Sweet it is" as a father daughter dance. Seems like those two songs are geared more towards wife / girlfriend.
My grandparents adopted my brother, me and my two sisters when I was 3 so if hopefully he'll still be alive for my wedding day. If not, then I'll dance with my uncle who's also been like my dad and he's supes overprotective about boys. He always told me and my cousins to stay away from the boys LOL
If she doesn't do some kind of analysis, it would be in violation of fair use copyright laws. Then it would either demonatized, cause a copyright strike, or outright get the video taken down.
I’m not dancing with my father or step dad at my wedding. If my grandpa is still here I’ll be dancing with him. If he isn’t then I want to dance with my grandma

I can't hear them, you talk too much.
😆😆
Yes, SHUTUP!!! So annoying!!!!
Always does
I was almost brought to tears by the omission of the greatest Father-Daughter song that was ever recorded. The Mills Brothers... "Daddy's Little Girl"
What a Wonderful World should be number one. It’s litetally the perfect song for any occasion. It would work just as well at a funeral as it would at a wedding, perfect for the couple or for the father and bride, a perfect lullaby, never will there be a more versatile song that manages to be so simple and sweet.
He looked like he was in pain in that video that was shown. 🤔
I wish my dad was going to be alive for my wedding this year. It hurts so bad. Yall tell your daddy's you love them.

@Ray Perez don't be a fkn dog
💯% agree!!
My dad and I danced to I loved her first by Heartland ( the #2 pick) at my wedding I was a daddy’s girl from day 1. ❤️
My dad passed away shortly before my 1 year anniversary. It’s been almost 10 years and when that song comes on the radio I still have to pull my car over so I don’t crash because I am sobbing so hard. I love the song and I miss my dad. It was the perfect song for us to dance to. ❤️
this is so sweet

+Shannon Sowards- I loved her first is the song that I am thinking of dancing to with my dad when I get married some day. I have time to think about it though, because I dont even have a boyfriend right now and I am almost 29 years old.
This makes me wish that my dad was alive. To all Daughters, young and old, hug your dad and tell him how you feel.
Damn right Butterfly Kisses is first. I heard that song way back when I was a little girl in the 90s and said to myself, "THAT is what I am dancing to with my father when I get married!" about 20 years later that's exactly what I did.
I honestly would have rioted if it wasn’t. 🤷🏼♀️😂
My dad and I both decided that this will be the one we dance too when I eventually get married.
I don't have any kids but if I ever do have a daughter I will push hard for Butterfly Kisses to be our song
My daddy used to sing My Girl to me. ❤️ makes me tear up everytime I hear it. Considering it’s an upbeat song
I chose “My Girl” by the Temptations. It was a song my dad and I used to sing to when I was little.
tim McGraw is a legend in country music. who doesn't love him? he's great.
Yass, “My Little Girl”, “I Love Her First”, and “Butterfly Kisses”!!!!

Im the same im 16 n i loved her first n butterfly kisses make me bawl everytime. I hope u get ur wish 🥰
I don't like songs that liken the love of a father to the love of a romantic interest...
My dad and I danced on Louis Armstrong's What a wonderful world! Very happy with my music choice! ❤️
i agree with most of this list! however, Tim McGraw's My Little Girl should have been in the top 3!!! that was going to be the song i wanted to dance with my dad to at my wedding, but since he is no longer with us, i will still have it and dance to it with the other most important men in my life!!!
I don’t even have a boyfriend but, I can just see my dad crying while dancing with me.
Same girl.
Stevie Wonder sure knows how to write a song about family.

I didn’t have a wedding, but if I would have, ”My Little Girl” was gonna be my Dad and I’s song.
My father and I are dancing together to a Spanish cover of butterfly kisses at my wedding next year. There was no other song choice in our opinion.
Lovve this choses I didn't start to cry at my nephew's wedding till the father/daughter mother/son dance

Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. That's one song I would add to this list.

I wanted to dance with my dad to this song but sadly he passed away almost 4 years ago. I will be getting married October 2020. This makes me so sad.

kcsupersonic1 ikr Cinderella should’ve been on here

I was thinking the same thing! It's mine!
I know what you mean! My dad and I have been going to a Father & Daughter Winter Ball every year with my cousins and their dad and every year Cinderella and I Loved Her First play.
Country music bombards wedding songs, I like how they had different genres
I’m a 24 year old woman who wants a slow dance with my dad and personally I might slow dance to I loved her first because me and my dad would listen to country songs as it was his weekend to take me (yes sadly my parents are divorced but that’s not gonna stop me from using that song)
When it's my wedding day, I'd like to have Father And Daughter by Paul Simon and Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle played when my dad and I dance.
I am getting married in 2 weeks and using Father and Daughter by Paul Simon 💜
#1 "Why Won't Somebody Dance With Me?" Bruce Johnston.
Steven Curtis Chapman - Cinderella? 🤔💔

"King of the World" would make a nice Father and Bride dance.

My sister had her wedding not too long ago and our father wasn't able to do a father/daughter dance. But my sister and I did dance together to (Jump On It) by Sugarhill Gang. Fresh Prince Nostalgia!
Matt Thornton, wow. That is an interesting song. But I guess it's perfect for a brother/sister dance at a wedding.
I nominate Cinderella by Curtis Lee Chapman for the number one spot!
Im only 14 and i already plan on my father daughter dance to be “My Little Girl” by Tim Mcgraw.
I've got 5 older brothers & My girl has always bin me and my daddy's song they say he sang it at my christening I believe them cause he's bin singing it ever sins 😅😍😍

You’ll be in my heart from tarzan
