The Apostles Creed. For myself, I believe that the Apostles Creed is the most powerful prayer that I know of. Particularly so during times when I'm feeling weak or sad about things going on in my life or in the world. As well, I think the Apostles Creed is an excellent confirmation in building upon a newly found faith or in strengthening a mature well-seasoned faith. I don't know who wrote the Apostles Creed, but good Lord! They sure jammed a lot of words into that prayer! And I'm grateful for that. Thank You and God Bless You, Fr. Mark-Mary.
Spiritual communion prayer when passing a church Eternal rest prayer when passing a cemetery Psalm 130 for the souls in purgatory Those are most frequently prayed in my daily life
People _should_ be praying the Act of Contrition more often than just for Confession. They should pray it every night before going to bed. And it's a nice habit to pray it if you are conscious of committing a sin, e.g. Cursing another driver for cutting you off!
🤣The example of cussing at another driver definitely applies. I started doing the Jesus Prayer when I catch myself doing something like that or get particularly nasty in general.
Or "omg" or "Jesus" as an expression or the equivalent "Geeze" or similar..is sinning against the second commandment. . Or being a stumbling rock for someone (dressed provocatively or fantasizing with those who do), Matthew 5:28, etc...
I would think that would apply to most Catholic kids, preparing for their first penance/1st confession in the second grade. And if you go to a Catholic school, you probably were tested on these prayers every year after second grade.

Unfortunately, I am one of those Catholics who have not memorized the Act Of Contrition. I went to confession and the Priest told me to say the Act Of Contrition and my replied was I don't know I have to read it. So, the Priest said it for me and I had to repeat it after him. A month ago I went to confession and the Priest told me to say the Act Of Contrition and I had to say that I have not memorized it yet. For some reason I haven't been able to memorize it. Thank you Father Mark Mary. Deo gratia.
I had trouble memorizing it, too. It’s also acceptable to simply say the Jesus Prayer- “Lord Jesus Christ, son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
Yes, my Mom taught me to say it before receiving and I am now trying to help my grandson to pray before Communion... reminding him to pray while waiting
This nice man is so young! Old people like myself know the act, but under pressure we will feel anxious about getting the words right. When priests started putting a laminated copy next to the kneeler I was so grateful! People know it, but it feels like a pop quiz to have to say it at the end of confession and it's actually distracting from the sacrament when you are afraid you're going to fail the quiz. There are also several *slightly* different versions so it can hang you up when you are saying it out loud. I almost always start off saying it but then grab that little card like it's a life raft at about the "having offended thee" .
I converted into the Church a few years ago but this year I have been making a much greater effort to practice the faith seriously. Your videos show me that I have much more to learn. God willing, I will continue to deepen my faith and practice in the Church.
@@michaelsix9684 A few years ago while sitting in eucharistic adoration, that prayer was recommended to me by a woman in the chapel. She described it as a powerful prayer. It's still something for me to understand how prayer can be powerful as I tend to think of prayer as a kind of submission. I think that just means that I have more to learn. I have found a daily rosary before bed to be a habit I am maintaining. I will certainly incorporate the chaplet into my prayers too.
I do have the Act of Contrition memorized, and I am halfway through memorizing the Magnificat, actually- this surprised me, being only 13. Thanks again for another video!!
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me a sinner." Perfectly acceptable, afterall I can say this with all true contrite honesty. The chance of me amending my life or avoiding the near occasion of sin... well at least I'm aspiring to be a saint.
I confessed to bishop Scott McCaig recently and when he asked me for act of contrition and I was mortified I didn’t know it by memory. He didn’t make me feel that way but I knew deeply I should have known it.
The Angelus 3X a day including noon changed my life forever after a period of distance from God’s Holy Church. Can’t assail myself of my abounding love of the Annunciation meditated on solemnly and with heart in The Angelus
Right now I only do it at noon and usually I’m not awake by 6 AM all 7 days of the week, to do it at 6 AM, then sometimes I would likely forget to do it at 6 PM if I was doing at 6 PM. maybe during Lent I’ll make a better effort to do it three times. I’ll start doing it one day a week 3x a day.
I am 68 and though the Church changed 1000% due to Vatican II, in being sent to Catholic grade school ages 5-14 so squeezed in under the wire and experienced incredible Catholic faith formation, for which I am so so grateful. We had to memorize all these prayers plus the creed. They might be dusty but they are “in there”. TY Father for your lovely videos!
I doubt I am alone in the experience of being overwhelmed with things I should have known as a youngster. The reminders and context for the prayers and all the resources at our fingertips is very helpful. Thanks for the guidance.
When i was in RCRA, we never went through those 3 prayers. Now I know and I'm going to start learning and memorize the prayer. Ive been doing Our Father, Hail Mary and a Glory be before I go to sleep. There is still a lot to learn! Thank you!
Thanks, I only remember the Act of Contrition when I go to confession. Just before I enter i re memorize it. I will add this prayer to my daily prayer as well as learn the other two. God Bless
Why don't you get a few holy cards that have your favorite prayers. On have someone write them on an index card for you. You can fit a folded card in your pocket, or place one on your night stand, kitchen or bathroom counter, or next to your favorite recliner or chair. Happy praying ❤

Thank you for the reminder. I never memorized the act of contrition and am embarrassed every time I go to confession. Been thinking that it would be good for me to memorize it this lent. I’m finally going to commit to memorizing it!
I got 2 out of 3. I figured the Act of Contrition would be on there. I’m so glad you listed the Magnificat! I feel it is good to recite it when praying the Joyful Mysteries on the 2nd decade for the Visitation of Mary with Elizabeth. Helps to share the moment with Mary by imagining Elizabeth saying to her “Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb! Why does the Mother of my Lord honor me with this visit? From the moment I heard your voice my child leaped in my womb with joy”. Our Mother Mary then responds with The Magnificat. I do not have psalm 51 memorized. I will have to work on that - thanks so much for suggesting this father! 🙏🏼
This reminds me of a time when I had trouble reciting the Apostles/Nicene Creed during mass or rosary. To this day, I still get both mixed up, but I think the importance here is to not memorize the words in a prayer but to remember the significance of the prayer through each word. With each line of prayer that comes from my mouth, I internally affirm that it also pours forth from my heart. I'm also at fault for seeing others as less for not memorizing a prayer to the T, but my advice is to be patient with yourself, our brothers, and sisters. Ultimately, it is the Holy Spirit that guides us in our prayers.
When I say the rosary I just use the Nicene. It includes the Apostles and there's just no way I can get the Apostles right with the Nicene in my head, it's like singing one song with a different one playing in the background! I appreciate the point of the video but I think memorizing is a specific skill that some people are better at than others and whether you are good at memorizing or not is really not a values or morals or faith issue. :)
I've memorised apostle+nicene creed, memorae, hail holy queen and closing prayer after the rosary. I thought I knew everything but it turned out this video reminded me that there are others
I’m a big Memorare/hail holy queen fan. You may love the sacred heart prayer the one that starts “o most holy heart of Jesus fountain of every blessing…” it’s one of my favorites
Early on my journey as a convert, I loved (and still do!) listening to "Misrere Mei, Deus" on my way to Mass before attending the evening RCIA. Little did I know that I was also singing Psalm 51! That helped with my faith because I realised as God is beautiful, so must everything that reflects Him be as such.
That is one of the most magnificent pieces of sacred music we have. I have versions by a group called Tenebrae and by Voces 8, and both are a window into Heaven.
I went to confession earlier this week at my local church- there's usually little pamphlets with the Act of Contrition are in the confessional- but that day there wasn't! I totally fumbled saying it at the end. There's a shorter "Prayer of Sorrow" taped up on the screen but it's very brief and childish, but I had to go with that. It made me resolve to actually memorize the Act of Contrition in my mind and heart, so I don't have to lean on a written copy. And maybe buy a giant stack of prayer cards with the traditional prayer on it to leave in the confessional.
The music teacher we had in high school was Dan Shutte. He was still a scholastic at that time. He was a prefect in our dorm. There were 4 rooms for prefects. There were about 40 boys in dorm I think. In Dan's room he had a reel to reel tape recording machine he said his dad got gor him. He was always playing the guitar and other boys would join him in playing. I did not realize it at that time. But he was actually writing music. I am not a musician. I just enjoyed the music. The songs we sang in church at school were those songs. The sisters sang harmony. They were so awesome I actually paid the sisters to travel and come sing at my wedding. It was only years later when I sang those songs in church and looked at the author that I realized I heard those songs for the first time when I was like a sophomore. Fr. Dan Shutte is an awesome person. Us boys had a lot of fun with him. Fond memories. I now read scripture for myself and do what Jesus told us to do. I pray like Jesus did and people get healed. I never learned that in the catholic church. So I feel deceived I wasn't taught that.
Thank you! I have tried to figure out exactly what constitutes "Mary's Magnificat" and had no luck with various Google searches....now I know! Oh, thank you so much!!!
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen. Psalm 51: Have mercy on me, O God, in your faithful love, in your great tenderness wipe away my offences; 2 wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin. 3 For I am well aware of my offences, my sin is constantly in mind. 4 Against you, you alone, I have sinned, I have done what you see to be wrong, that you may show your saving justice when you pass sentence, and your victory may appear when you give judgement, 5 remember, I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception. 6 But you delight in sincerity of heart, and in secret you teach me wisdom. Purify me with hyssop till I am clean, wash me till I am whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear the sound of joy and gladness, and the bones you have crushed will dance.9 Turn away your face from my sins, and wipe away all my guilt. 10 God, create in me a clean heart, renew within me a resolute spirit, 11 do not thrust me away from your presence, do not take away from me your spirit of holiness. 12 Give me back the joy of your salvation, sustain in me a generous spirit. 13 I shall teach the wicked your paths, and sinners will return to you. 14 Deliver me from bloodshed, God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will acclaim your saving justice.15 Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will speak out your praise.16 Sacrifice gives you no pleasure, burnt offering you do not desire.17 Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken, contrite heart you never scorn 18 In your graciousness do good to Zion, rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.19 Then you will delight in upright sacrifices,-burnt offerings and whole oblations -- and young bulls will be offered on your altar. ~magnificat My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever. (Lk 1: 46-55)

Yes, always the Act of Contrition ( God reward the nuns I had in catholic school in the mid 50’s , 60’s who taught true Catholicism - not woke ! ) . We learned the Anima Christi after Communion and the Prayer before a Crucifix which I say after communion to this day- I’m 76! The Saint Michael prayer- which is also an exorcism prayer and the beautiful Memorare! Love my catholic faith . We’ve had bad pipes, bad bishops and bad or years but the good ones way outnumber the bad! Praise God!
Thank you for this video. I am newly Catholic and struggle with learning the Nicene Creed still. However, it is coming to me as I continually say it. I will begin to practice/say these prayers more often. Praying these from memory has always been a goal of mine. God Bless.
Super great video, Father. Excellent advice. Will do!! I consider myself a "good Catholic" and never pray any of these habitually (much less have them memorized). I have work to do!! A request for an upcoming video ~ a sequel: next 3 valuable prayers to memorize, if possible. 🙏 I thank you for leading us on a closer walk with the Lord. 💖

As a convert struggling alone and not knowing how to fit in at church, thank you so much for content like this. I’m often worshipping on my own instead of attending mass, and stuff like this really helps me. God bless you.
Find a Church whose Mass really speaks to you. I drive 35 minutes to go to Mass by myself on Sunday and I'm sure it can feel intimidating but the important thing is your relationship with God. There is a Church much closer to me that I still go to when I catch a late Mass and I definitely feel out of place when the band they have there starts playing contemporary Christian music which really isn't my thing but I keep in mind that it's not for me, it's for God. Granted I also go to Confession at that Church and a lot of times if I'm in the area I stop there when Mass is not in session and just pray. I kneel and look up at the Cross and I speak to God. I thank him for all that I have and all that he has given me. I apologize for my failures and weaknesses. That's something you might try to get yourself comfortable with coming to Church and let the Spirit grow in you and guide you to a closer relationship with Christ and his Church.
When I arrive at church on Sunday, the first prayer I say is the Act of Contrition to get ready for mass and communion. I also say during the day the Jesus prayer often: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. After communion I say Come Lord Jesus, come into my heart, make me Your new creation. It's not as if I'm reciting memorized prayers. It's not the words. It's the opening of the heart to God. The rosary for me was often droning on and on until I learned to not focus on the words, rather allow my heart to open to Mary, Jesus, and the Mysteries.
Reading Psalm 51 is something I do to help me reflect on my son before confession. Thank you for the video I am going to commit it to memory as part of Lent.
This was very informative. I saw another video that recommended the Morning Offering, Act of Contrition, Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, Angel of God and prayer to St. Michael, as part of the daily routine, and I include them now in my morning prayers. While I've read the Magnificant and Psalm 51, I don't know them as well as I should. Liturgy of the hours is on my list of things to learn. Thank you Father.
I’m in my late 70s and I don’t get around much , so not much opportunity to sin( benefit of old age). But I always say the act of contrition before I receive communication, just in case. Doing this makes me feel more comfortable receive the body of Christ
There are various versions of The Act of Contrition. Sometimes, just keeping it simple and from the heart is best, even if it’s not exact. I like a particular version, but someone else may like a different one. Prayer does not need to be difficult. I like to say as I’m driving or doing whatever, Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. I also like the surrender prayer. Just pray, just pray.
amen, amen, amen, your words of advice are consistent with the moving of my heart.. I have been trying to memorize psalm 51 with difficulty .. and have been reciting the act of contrition in confession lately although I keep misquoting the last sentence of it (but saying it from my heart)… and it’s changed my confessions !
I pray the act of contrition every morning when I open my eyes. I know ideally it should be at night but I do it every morning. Psalm 51 is my favorite psalm. Praying the divine office has allowed me to learn Mary’s canticle
I taught my kids their catechism so they knew the Act of Contrition but we went to a different church for Confession and the priest asked my 10yo to tell Jesus how sorry she was. Confused, she said, "Really sorry!"
Thank you - it struck me that I can have a goal of learning Psalm 51 and the Magnificat by saying them daily with my morning prayers during the Lenten season.
As a new catholic, I love these videos. I do wish there was more videos on guiding new catholics with their prayers and the importance of prayer. The why.
luckily I've already memorized the Act of Contrition, but not Psalm 51 or the Magnificat. I normally say the Act of Contrition at night before bed or if I'm worried for my soul.
I didnt expect this Father.. Thank you so much for this video. Our family memorized Psalm 91 but its all supplication of protection hehe...very shameful. True enough it is great to be humble and always remind ourselves of our lowliness and poorness in spirit and the need to ask forgiveness from God for our sinfulness. And ends the day with praises and thanksgiving. Thank you father. I have 4 kids actually. My only son will be commissioned to be a Knight of the Altar and my 2 daughters will be commissioned as Lectors - all this coming May 14. Let's pray for each other
When my sister was little and we were teaching her prayers, these were my favourite. “Hail Mary, full of grapes, Dolores Whitney” and “Oh my God, I am hardly sorry for having offended thee”. After several weeks of work we got her to say “Oh my God, I am partially sorry”, which was probably about right.
AND each day, throughout the day, *Oh, my God, I offer you every thought, word and act of today. Bless me, my God, and make me good today.* AND this morning offering: *Good morning, God and thank you for the glory of the sun. Thank you for the health I have to get my duty done. I shall devote the hours of this golden day to you by honoring your holy name in everything I do. I know that there have been many days that I have whiled away, but this is one that I will try to make your special day. So, once more, Good Morning, God and please depend on me because I want to honor you for all eternity. *
I grew up in the catholic church. Went to a catholic boarding school. Had a great time. Enjoyed my life there. Was a lector and taught catechism. Raised my children in this faith. As a teacher, I felt like I needed to know more than the freshman students. So I read the catechism book. In so doing, I discovered that the 10 commandments were actually not 10 but only 9 commandments. One commandment is split. When I started actually reading the Bible, I discovered that God walked with Adam in the garden and conversed with him. God wants a relationship with us. I don't walk up to someone that I want to apologize to and read or have something memorized. I talk about the wrong I did to them and apologize for that. God wants us to apologize for the wrong I've done to him and not do it again. When I saw the Easter mass the Pope was doing. The language is Latin, but the name Lucifer comes up many times and the worship of the morning star. So I really feel deceived. The throne the pope sits on has the ugly Monument behind him. It looks like Satan coming out of the ground with all his demons. The pillars that are on either side of the pope are fangs of a serpent. If you look at the outside of the building, you see the stained glass windows look very much like snake eyes. The people of the catholic church are wonderful people. My mother loved Jesus. But not the pope. The pope says I am the Victor of Christ. I can talk to God and Jesus without going through the pope. I still love Jesus and the people of the church. But not the system of the church.
Revelation 22:16. Christ calls Himself the morning star which is "Lucifer" in Latin and that's why you heard it. Not liking the modern art resurrection of Jesus statue or thinking a building has funny windows is a pretty silly reason to condemn the Church. Just saying.
Thank you so much for these amazing videos! Ascension helps my family and me so much! I was wondering of I could ask for prayers for my extended family struggling with grief, addiction, faith and other issues! Thank you!

I know it by heart, but at the end of confession it's hard to transition to it. I don't think a lot of priests realize that although we know how good confession is, and even if our sins are nothing you haven't heard a bunch, it's stressful for a lot of people like me. So at the end there's a lot of emotions and to think of it and not try to mess up...yeah a lot goes out of my head.
Can you make a video of you reciting three prayers? I listen to and pray along with your divine mercy and rosary videos when I am walking. It would be great to add the new video to my playlist. Thanks.
Thank you for this Father Mark Mary. Being older these days, with certain "challenges" that run within my family, I would need to put some of these suggestions on my phone for easy reference. The prayers you've recommended are growing in number and becoming a part of my daily routine, bringing me closer to the spirituality I need. Blessings....
Thank you Fr. Mark Mary. The Catholic Church is so full of beautiful and meaningful prayers, I was curious which 3 you would land on. Yes, Yes and Yes. Asking for God's forgiveness and two directly from scripture. I have also found comfort in Hail Holy Queen, which I did not know by heart for many years. How I am comforted by going to our blessed mother in times of pain, worry, joy etc. and trusting fully in her intercession. Thank you for your tireless work.
The act of contrition is also very important in the story of salvation for all. Say if you committed a mortal sin, and there is no possible way for you to go to daily mass to ask for confession afterwards, and have to wait until Saturday. What if you get into a car accident, or just die suddenly in any way beforehand? If you truly mean to say the act of contrition and resolve to go to confession as soon as you can, and happen to die before you do. God will save you and forgive you for he knows you truly meant to go to confession. It’s absolutely important to memorize it.
What other prayers would you add to this list? Let us know in the comments below! 🙏
Mark-Mary.

Psalm 130 for the souls in purgatory
Those are most frequently prayed in my daily life
People _should_ be praying the Act of Contrition more often than just for Confession. They should pray it every night before going to bed. And it's a nice habit to pray it if you are conscious of committing a sin, e.g. Cursing another driver for cutting you off!
Examination of conscience, everyday. Agreed.
Great reminder to set our minds in this way so it becomes a habit & we pray it when we offend God or our neighbor.
G day from Ontario I am 74 & say Act of Contrition every nite. Thanks
When I was a kid, we had to learn the Act of Contrition before First Confession and First Communion.
I would think that would apply to most Catholic kids, preparing for their first penance/1st confession in the second grade. And if you go to a Catholic school, you probably were tested on these prayers every year after second grade.
New project is to learn at least the Magnificst and Psalm 51 in Latin.

That’s awesome. God bless you!!! He sees you, that’s for sure!!
It’s nit coincidence- it’s ‘Godincidence’ . He’s calling you.
I've just prayed a Chaplet of Mercy for you asking the Lord to guide you to His Truth, so you may be converted fully to Him. May He pour out His Mercy over you and bless you. 🙏🏻

Yes, I pray the Act of Contrition every night sincerely in case I offended God at all that day. Always looking for a beautiful new prayer so Psalm 51 and The Magnificat of Mary will be my new goals.
Reciting the Act of Contrition at every evening at bedtime is a great idea. TY!

@@BowieFann Yes, I have done this for more years than I can remember along with my other prayers.
I went to Catholic school and had to memorize The Act of Contrition. I also say it before I receive the Eucharist, which helps me feel more prepared.
Oh wow, what a lovely idea
@@allthethings6379 my thought also!
Great idea
I love that idea! ❤
God bless you in your journey and welcome home!😊
learn the Chaplet of Mercy and say it daily, will help you grow greatly in grace

Well done, Colleen!
@@occamnj Thank you!
It's been 2 months Colleen. Have you memorized the Magnificat yet?
Congratulations on memorizing the act of contrition.
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me a sinner." Perfectly acceptable, afterall I can say this with all true contrite honesty. The chance of me amending my life or avoiding the near occasion of sin... well at least I'm aspiring to be a saint.
Thank you Father
I confessed to bishop Scott McCaig recently and when he asked me for act of contrition and I was mortified I didn’t know it by memory. He didn’t make me feel that way but I knew deeply I should have known it.
GOD truly knows your heart and that you love him❤
Don’t feel bad- you probably weren’t taught!
The Angelus 3X a day including noon changed my life forever after a period of distance from God’s Holy Church. Can’t assail myself of my abounding love of the Annunciation meditated on solemnly and with heart in The Angelus
I say the angelus too and if I miss it I say it before I sleep with a few other prayers
GOD knows your heart ❤️
I am 68 and though the Church changed 1000% due to Vatican II, in being sent to Catholic grade school ages 5-14 so squeezed in under the wire and experienced incredible Catholic faith formation, for which I am so so grateful. We had to memorize all these prayers plus the creed. They might be dusty but they are “in there”. TY Father for your lovely videos!
Vatican 2 changed everything and in not such a great way
I doubt I am alone in the experience of being overwhelmed with things I should have known as a youngster. The reminders and context for the prayers and all the resources at our fingertips is very helpful. Thanks for the guidance.
Overwhelmed? It’s a blessing. You get to relive and memorize these prayers. Look at it as a blessing.
When i was in RCRA, we never went through those 3 prayers. Now I know and I'm going to start learning and memorize the prayer. Ive been doing Our Father, Hail Mary and a Glory be before I go to sleep. There is still a lot to learn! Thank you!
Don't ever give up! Press on for God IS with you all the way.
RCIA is just the starting point!
I LOVE the Canticle of Mary in sung chant especially in Latin 🤍
Thanks, I only remember the Act of Contrition when I go to confession. Just before I enter i re memorize it. I will add this prayer to my daily prayer as well as learn the other two. God Bless
I used to have it memorized, but there's many things I have forgotten... fun getting older 😊
Why don't you get a few holy cards that have your favorite prayers. On have someone write them on an index card for you. You can fit a folded card in your pocket, or place one on your night stand, kitchen or bathroom counter, or next to your favorite recliner or chair. Happy praying ❤

I found it on the phone app and am memorizing it for Lent. Psalm 51 l pray Fridays and l’ve got the Magnificat covered.

Never too late memorize our catholic prayers get in the loop.
Yes ACT OF CONTRITION IS SO CONSOLING.
sharing this to your friends.
God bless.
Don't feel bad, I don't know either one of them either.
@Ryan-zv6xw I hate to admit this but I never was able to memorize the Apostles Creed! And the Nicene Creed? Impossible!
@@suziepeck5717 I'm very subject to losing my place and having to start all over again!
Beautuful! Well said!
I bet you felt unprepared! Glad you have made that realization.
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen. Psalm 51: Have mercy on me, O God, in your faithful love, in your great tenderness wipe away my offences;
2 wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.

God Bless.

As a convert struggling alone and not knowing how to fit in at church, thank you so much for content like this. I’m often worshipping on my own instead of attending mass, and stuff like this really helps me. God bless you.
Can you find a parish in your community?
Please go to Mass,
Jesus welcomes you.
It’s the highest prayer you can pray. And the Eucharist is the ultimate gift!
Praying for you.
Please go to mass. It’s about the Eucharist and Jesus- He’s alone too in the Tabernacle and He loves your company! God bless you
When I arrive at church on Sunday, the first prayer I say is the Act of Contrition to get ready for mass and
communion. I also say during the day the Jesus prayer often: Lord Jesus, have mercy on me a sinner. After communion
I say Come Lord Jesus, come into my heart, make me Your new creation. It's not as if I'm reciting memorized prayers.
It's not the words. It's the opening of the heart to God. The rosary for me was often droning on and on until I learned
to not focus on the words, rather allow my heart to open to Mary, Jesus, and the Mysteries.
Thank you for this ‘assignment’ and for helping us grow in holiness! Count on my prayers, Father!

It always feels right every Friday morning when Psalm 51 appears in Morning Prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours.
Wonderful!
I’m in my late 70s and I don’t get around much , so not much opportunity to sin( benefit of old age). But I always say the act of contrition before I receive communication, just in case. Doing this makes me feel more comfortable receive the body of Christ
I agree. I should have memorized it years ago. my church has it written in the confessional.
May the lord be with you all

I pray the act of contrition every morning when I open my eyes. I know ideally it should be at night but I do it every morning. Psalm 51 is my favorite psalm.
Praying the divine office has allowed me to learn Mary’s canticle
I taught my kids their catechism so they knew the Act of Contrition but we went to a different church for Confession and the priest asked my 10yo to tell Jesus how sorry she was. Confused, she said, "Really sorry!"

I like the Magnificat songs 💗 Helped me remember the verses.
luckily I've already memorized the Act of Contrition, but not Psalm 51 or the Magnificat.
Let's pray for each other
Thank you Father may God Bless You

Thank you, Father Mark Mary for helping me grow in my faith.

Great video. I have to memorize Psalm 51. I’ve got the Act of Contrition and Magnificat memorized.

I'm not Catholic but I'm trying to learn the rosary after watching Father Stephen Rossetti .
Absolutely. Healing. You never want to offend God.
Thanks.
Thank you so much Fr. Mark!❤ Will widely spread these prayers in our parish and schools.
All Christians could certainly benefit from memorizing these. ❤
1 - 0:19 The Act of Contrition
2 - 3:41 Psalm 51
3 - 4:23 The Magnificat of Mary
Thank you Fr. Mark Mary. The Catholic Church is so full of beautiful and meaningful prayers, I was curious which 3 you would land on. Yes, Yes and Yes. Asking for God's forgiveness and two directly from scripture. I have also found comfort in Hail Holy Queen, which I did not know by heart for many years. How I am comforted by going to our blessed mother in times of pain, worry, joy etc. and trusting fully in her intercession. Thank you for your tireless work.
And the Memorare
The act of contrition is also very important in the story of salvation for all. Say if you committed a mortal sin, and there is no possible way for you to go to daily mass to ask for confession afterwards, and have to wait until Saturday. What if you get into a car accident, or just die suddenly in any way beforehand? If you truly mean to say the act of contrition and resolve to go to confession as soon as you can, and happen to die before you do. God will save you and forgive you for he knows you truly meant to go to confession. It’s absolutely important to memorize it.
Homework challenge accepted😊
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of GOD, have mercy upon me, a simmer. Forgive me of my sins. Please pray for me, now and at the hour of my death. Amen."
