I’m excited for this Bible. I just became Catholic this year and you had a big hand in bringing me into the Church. Thank you for all that you do for the Lord!
Dr. Hahn influenced my own conversion in the early 2000s and I'm now a priest. He is a great man and this Bible is the fruit of decades of labors by him and his co-workers in the vineyard of the Lord. May the Lord use this Bible for the enlightening and harvesting of many souls.
True story - I met Dr. Hahn at a Steubenville conference about 15 years ago and asked him when the Old Testament version would be released. He said "about a year". I met him again at a parish event in Southern Maryland in my diocese about 6 years later, and I asked him the same question. He said "about a year". Well, that was LONG year! Glad it's finally out. Can't wait to buy it.
I know this Catholic Study Bible is going to be so worth it because the sheer fact that I recently turned 25 and this took 26 years to make is insane! What a blessing it is to be alive in this time I can't wait! Edit: I pre-ordered mine 2 weeks after the announcement and I'm so excited to get mine at the end of this year!
Dr. Hahn, I'm a convert from Protestanism, and while I own several Catholic Bibles already, I feel like a kid in a candy store looking at and hearing about your study Bible. My family and I are doing a gift exchange this year, and I put this at the top of my list--if I don't get it, I'm buying it myself! Thanks Scott for putting in the legwork to make this collaborative effort a reality!

My husband and I are currently in RCIA. I preordered this book a few months back. So excited to receive this treasure. Congratulations on this milestone!! 🎉
Same here! Started them back in 2005/06 and then ran away for 20 years. Was baptized at Notre Dame in 1983 and the Protestantism of my maternal side told the Catholicism of my paternal side that there’s no way her children would ever be Catholic. Enough’s enough, I want to be home.

The timing of this seems too good to be true, fortuitous and serendipitous. I've been on a Non-Denominational Christian journey for years. These last few months have been when I have tried to achieve some specificity with my faith. It began with a search for whatever "version" of the Bible I wanted to buy(To supplement a NKJV I was gifted years ago)...which launched a journey into many different versions and consequently, a lot of research into different denominations of Christianity. The more I research, the more I use history, context, and simply try to learn and educate myself on the matter...the more I have felt that Catholicism was the way to go. It seems like this Study Bible is coming along at just the right time to really launch my faith into the Catholic direction in a comprehensive way. God's timing is amazing.
“I want to share how God saved my life and transformed me. In my darkest moments, when illness and pain consumed me, I offered myself to Him as His servant, and He pulled me back from the brink of death. I’ve learned that keeping my promises to God and repenting daily not only heals my soul but keeps me physically alive and well. His Spirit brings vitality where medicine and logic couldn’t explain. When I was at my lowest-sitting in a chair all day, drained of life, with no color in my cheeks-I turned to His Word and soaked in worship day and night. That journey eventually led me to baptism, and I can testify that His Word truly healed my body and spirit. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and His love changes everything.”❤❤
Me too. I'm the same but found the notes in the OSB lacking and the NKJV translation that it uses at its base to be not very good. I'm actually using the NABRE (Catholic study bible( but consult with the RSV and other translations as well. I know the NABre has its critics but it is usually very literally and reads well. A few odd choices in translation but every bible has a few of those.
@@Circle_Breaker73 I'm rather fond of the NKJV. I tend to be more in the Byzantine text category for the NT, so the NKJV as a translation is mostly good as a text. I just disagree with several of their translations, in which case the NABRE's senses would be preferable. My main gripes with the OSB were the notes were useless after someone had been in Orthodoxy a couple of months, and it was simply not a LXX. I checked the text different editions of the LXX (usually Swete and Rahlf), and it just never lined up. It would sometimes change half a verse and leave the other half unchanged, so that it was neither MT nor LXX in those cases.
@kainech I noticed the same when comparing the OSB to something like the NETS (New English Translation of septuagint). I think the Greek Orthodox Church uses the regular RSV translation for their English Liturgy so it will be nice to have this RSV-2Ce text which is only a very light revision. It replaces "steadfast love" with "mercy" which I think would be more familiar to Orthodox readers.
God bless you, Dr. Hahn. Thank you for your outstanding service to the Church over the years. You were instrumental in my conversion, and I continue to follow your work to this day.
