Retired US special Forces Navy Ranger Airborne, 3 Gold Stars 2 Purple Stars. All my belongings I can pack into my US Army echelon Parachute Bag. When we jumped behind enemy lines we would live of the land for months at a time. So now i am retired disabled VET i still have the mindset of a light fighter as we use to call ourselves when stations at Fort ORD California before deployment and jumping into hostile areas of the world. SSG Dan retired Combat Veteran.
When I moved to the Philippines few months back. I had a big clear out cd's and other stuff. The only thing that's precious to be now is Photos that can't be replaced. Joined Spotify for my music needs. Life is so much easier now. Pick up a few things like a quality rice cooker and pots and pans. Life is easier
Going to have to be a minimalist when I decide to go there, won't have much choice. Do plan on sending some balikbayan boxes to my Filipina wifes familys address, other than that...dam sure can't take it with me! Good video, Gio...Jim
Appreciate the info,it’s amazing how much crap I have now when just 18 years ago I moved to Vegas with basically the clothes on my back and living in a apartment with a lawn chair and a tv my neighbor gave me,in 2 years my plans are to retire there and go back to actually being free from all this crap I have now and really start living again, appreciate your videos very much
Hi Gio. Thanks for another great video and for filming it on the "famous" Dumaguete boardwalk. That's one place that's on my list to see when visiting the Philippines. Take care and keep up the great work.
Great video, thank you very much. My hat is off to you brother, I don’t think I have it in me to be like that. Though I’m not one of those people that has to have the latest greatest iPhone, I wish I were more like you.
Hi Gio thank you for your videos me and my friend know Cris Bel because of your videos. Were new in Dumaguete I think 15 days. This place not familiar in me
Gio, thanks for the video. I hope to be able to live a minimalist lifestyle. I plan on getting rid of almost everything, but my car. I will get rid of it when I know that I will be staying in the Philippines 🇵🇭.
I live minimalistic in my country and feel like an outsider. This is why I plan to go to the Philippines. I need 2-3 years to reach my financial goal so I will be prepared for an emergency
If I had one wish, I wish you could interview that girl in that outfit doing that bounce up and down and then turning to the camera and smiling on the opening to all your videos. Just something about that and her reaction is so awesome.
I gave my 2 bedroom house to my son , I kept my 5 acres lot in Florida , my 2020 jayco and my 2020 Ram I bought in 2020 when I was stuck in America because of cov and I owe zero as in no debt , my Philippine house is paid for and our business are paid for . I worked 31 years and did 5 years Army and stayed debt free 63 years of my life because of one thing my dad told me before he died ( never pay for the Rich man's steak ) I've been blessed to have made good money in America and built a good retirement plan . I can live way better in the Philippines than America on my retirement as my savings is almost gone now 🇺🇸 but I live off grid tax free when I go home . I've been to 37 states and 4 countries .
Gio, I visited Dumaguete in September 2023 and March 2024. I can’t wait to return sometime in 2025 or I try this year. Great place. I been over the Philippines. Dumaguete is the best. Heads up!! Japan started to get very humid and hot. I’m not a happy camper.
日本に住んでいる?どこ?I’m Canadian living in southern Shikoku. The rainy season right now is the very worst time of the year - very hot, super muggy/humid and wet. All around very uncomfortable.
I'll have two suitcases and a carry on when I move over and that will be whittled down even further once I get there. I have been buying moisture wicking T-shits and shorts for a while now a long with some new Keen closed toe sandals that will basically last a lifetime. I plan on just using AirBNB's until I decide exactly where I want to setup shop. But my plan is to be able to pack up and move as quickly as possible if I need too. Must be a former military man thing, lol
When I came to the Philippines 30 years ago, I got rid of everything except photos, underwear ( yep that's important here ), coats, jumpers. I basically had 2 suitcases. Hell, with 4 daughters, a wife and 3 stepgrandchildren, the amount of junk in our house is mindboggling.
Everyone who has moved from one place to another and migrated to another continent eventually becomes a minimalist. 6:30 lol Gio, is that a church? yes, Gio a ringing bell like that is a church
Would be good to have some info on methods of moving stuff from an apartment into storage and then to an apartment in another city. I don't know how many of us can reduce all our stuff down to an amount that can be taken on a plane.
I have a Philippino friend that has lived with my sister for over 18 years now. He sends a box over twice a year from Minnesota to Manila. The box is 3’x2’x2’ and costs about $100 no weight restrictions. It takes over two months to deliver. He always has deflated basketballs he sends over 😁😀
have lived a minimalist life as far as personal possessions are concerned. NO MAS. I am well to do because I was fortunate to take a chance on some real estate that did well. Marrying a younger Filipina is definitely not minimalist. I want one for life but not legal marriage, just one before God. A legal form of that is a Domestic Partnership. Much better than marriage. I have lived off grid, about half my life. I will again in the PH, but with my own power. Better power than most Filipinos will ever see. And YES, I am keeping the good things that come to America. So no minimalist for me. No reason. Most things are cheaper in the PH except electronics and fuel. I am buying land through a corporation formed with 10 churches and myself. I will rent back the land and build a very nice house. I am bring cattle from Australia that was bred in Brazil for the tropics. It is a cross between American Red Angus and Brahma so it tastes good but can handle the high humidity of the PH. A good Rib Eye or NY steak is a rare commodity in the PH. That's too minimalist for me. I will have aged but not frozen steaks most of the year. Roasts and hamburger after that. And tons of good jerky,

My mantra is minimalism and stoicism. Put another way, the less stuff I have, and the less I care about things I cannot change, the happier I am.

The part im definitely struggling with!! Missing my harley and all my music stuff!
Harley went woke. Even snubbed at Sturgis

That would be cool!
When I filmed that I never knew she would turn out to be so popular and that is why she is my intro now.
I have an office with some computers and equipment that is hard to get in the Philippines. Can't really abandon what feeds me.
Of course I understand that.
@@GiointhePhilippines I plan to sell my 2 houses and the furniture, and use a groupage service to move the essential stuff over to the Philippines.
Thanks for the video.
The biggest problem I have with moving to the Philippines is that I own about 1000 books (not exaggerating) and many of them I use as references.
Would be good to have some info on methods of moving stuff from an apartment into storage and then to an apartment in another city. I don't know how many of us can reduce all our stuff down to an amount that can be taken on a plane.
Gio do you know how much to ship a large shipping box?
Like 5 feet by 5 feet by 5 feet.
Something like that.
This is entirely the wrong video to be asking that question. 😎
@samiam8114
I'm still a minimalist.
But I am married with a daughter.
And we already have a lot, just need to build.
So no, not the wrong video.
I don't know it depends a lot on weight.
I live in a mansion here. I had two semi shipping containers delivered. Can’t find high quality stuff here. Spend the money.

Gio can u do a video about amazon in phil
Agree with you on minimalism.
Move on and get rid of the stuff back home.
Your the 1st person I've heard say that Amazon is there.😊
Minimalism is the way to go. Also apply to the number of "friends"
Absolutely!
The only thing I will have too leave and i will miss is my firearms 😢 and my truck 😢
Ebooks?
The church bell is copyright.
Minimalism is the way to go mr Gio ... let the ex mrs keep it all ..
10000 steps is a myth created by a marketing company and not by any health authority! So, promoting it as truth isn't quite right in my opinion.
That’s why I do 17000 steps 😮
Who cares?

That is great to hear! What island do you plan to do that ! It seems like it would have to be Mindanao?
Find me a wife
because you might be living on socialist income?
Meaning what?
Just another troll trying to be relevant in a world that doesn’t even know he exists. 🤷♂️
