Mike is the best teaching pro I have seen in my 30 years of playing serious golf.

Mike is heavily emphasizing transition and he treats it with great reverance and respect. It is the "Twilight Zone" moment. That moment in the day where it isn't day or night. It isn't back swing or forward swing. The nano second. He is a guru.

Mark...thank you for this fascinating discussion with Mike Maggs. Your input and experience really enabled him to clarify and explain his concepts and ideas fully. The most fascinating discussion of the golf swing I have ever been blessed to listen to. It was obvious at the end the immense respect that Mike has for you. Interestingly...he was not intimidated by your presence. This speaks volumes for both of you. Again...just a tremendous discussion. I am originally from the tennis world. I evolved to the golf universe. As a tennis teacher, I would always clarify my teaching with the phrase "tennis is golf on the run". Mike uses so many of the same words and ideas that I do, it confirms my belief in myself. I learned more about teaching tennis from playing and teaching golf than I did from playing tennis. Go figure. Mike understands...I'm sure. Fascinating!!!

Following on from my previous post...
I deliberately didn't rush out to the range after watching this interview (as I normally do when I think I've found a good instructional video). I watched / listened to it over and over for a few days to let the information sink in.
I went to the range this morning and what a difference! Yes there were still plenty of miss-hits during my practice but only in the first half of the session. As the time went on, the miss-hits reduced in frequency until I was striking the ball more towards the sweet spot most of the time. The difference I think is that within about 30 minutes on the range, I was aware of when I was trying to muscle it instead letting the club do the work. Because when I simply let it go, the outcome was a completely effortless swing with an extremely accurate ball flight. Swinging with 20% effort and striking the ball it out of the sweet spot had that wonderful easy and buttery soft feel. It was amazing.
The key takeaway for me was to feel that constant pressure on the trail index finger against the grip all the way through the swing. If I felt like I lost that pressure point at any time during the downswing, I knew I had lost that natural lag and I was trying to interfere with the swing.
Striking the rubber tee drill was great advice too.
I don't think I will be giving the game up just yet now. So thank you for taking the time to interview Mike, record it and post it here on TH-cam. You have most probably saved a recreational golfer from selling their clubs and walking away.
    Cheers.

Mike is like that. No need to rush out. Better to contemplate and fondle the club at home for a while. Then it doesn't take a million swings. I actually went straight to the course after hitting a bucket. There is a chipping video he does as well that I took straight to the course on the same day. The reason? He is Fundamentally Correct...FC. HIs is a gravity based concept that cannot go wrong if you stay out of the way.

Light bulb moment! I have always had timing problems,, starting my downswing before finalising the backswing. Changed swing thought from backswing and pressure shift", to simply getting into "launch position" being balanced and having the full balance with the fraction of a second pause before launch. Could even flush my 5wood in that manner. Thanks to Mike Maggs and Mark Immelmann. Work to be done but promising!

Big toes and nose! Tried it today. And yep, I’ve been off balance my whole life. lol.

I’ve had The Golfing Machine book on my shelf for years. I took it off the shelf this evening and opened it for the first time because I am having a terrible time with my game this year.
After just two chapters I thought to myself there must be a simpler way to get decent at this game surely?!
Then this video popped up on my feed.
I’ll watch it a few times and give it a try. Fingers crosse it helps with my consistency and ball striking because I have to be honest, after approximately 30 years of playing this game and only ever reaching an 18 handicap for a short period of time, I am incredibly close to giving it up.

What if a previous injury prevents the wrist from getting in the position he loves? Add in a torn rotator cuff to limit external rotation to compound it

Forget all these teacher’s preferences. There has been an endless supply of this for about 100 years now and each one is convinced that they are the one that has finally got it figured out

You misunderstand what I’m trying to teach I’m not saying this is the only way to play golf. I’m trying to get people to look at their golf swing and how to improve in a different way and deal with what is actually happening in the golf swing between your mind, your body and your skill level
