BMW G 310 GS Latest Updates
BMW’s baby ADV bike, the G 310 GS, has received its second price hike for 2021. It now retails at Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs 10,000 more than before.
A while back, BMW had unveiled the 2022 G 310 GS with new colour options that are expected to make their way here by the end of 2021. For full details, check out our story.
In October 2020, BMW Motorrad India blew us away with the price of the new BS6 G 310 GS. The smallest member of the GS family was priced at Rs 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom India) at launch, making it almost Rs 64,000 cheaper than the BS4 version. Now with the latest price hike, it undercuts its primary rival, the KTM 390 Adventure, by Rs 28,000.
    BMW G 310 GS Engine
BMW has made quite a few tweaks to the internals of the 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill. Output remains constant at 34PS and 28Nm but in our VBox acceleration test, we found it to be marginally slower than its BS4 counterpart. The six-speed transmission now gets a slip-and-assist clutch. On the surface of it, the 43mm USD fork and preload-adjustable monoshock might seem to be identical to the older BS4 GS. However, BMW has changed the tune of the suspension units by a smidge, making them not too soft and wallowy. No changes to the braking hardware for the BS6 bike--300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc brake setup still bringing the bike to a halt. Dual-channel ABS remains but no possibility to switch intervention at the rear now.
    BMW G 310 GS Design
Not much has changed in terms of the styling of the baby GS. It still looks the part of a GS motorcycle, with new attractive colours now offered. The quality of plastics and switchgear used is comparable to a bike thrice its value. There aren’t any loose wires to be seen, with seamless uniform welds to be found all across the trellis frame.
    BMW G 310 GS Features
One of the major updates on the BS6 version of the G 310 GS is the new LED face. It is the same as its naked sibling, the G 310 R, and offers better illumination than the older halogen unit. LED turn indicators add to the premium look of the adventure motorcycle. Span-adjustable levers are a welcome addition to the motorcycle. The only dated bit on the bike remains the LCD dash, which doesn’t get any form of smartphone connectivity.
    BMW G 310 GS Competitors
The BMW G 310 GS goes toe-to-toe with the KTM 390 Adventure. While priced lower than the baby GS, you can also look at the KTM 250 Adventure or the Royal Enfield Himalayan to satiate your adventure needs.
