  • Hello. I had to run out to the salvage yard to get some parts and figured I'd do a quick tour. Lots of interesting classic cars and trucks and a few that are quite rare!

Sad to look at some of those vehicles considering how much excitement there must have been to get them when they were brand new. Thankfully there are those of you who can bring some of them back to life and restore that excitement! Thanks for sharing Kyle!!

The sad truth is that these old junk yards are disappearing. Who doesn't love a slow walk through history. Everyone of these rusting hulks was once someone's pride and joy. On getaways, when my wife is looking through the shops, I'll try to find a junk yard to fill out my missing parts closet. Thanks for taking us along!:)

Enjoyed the walk round the wrecking yard with you. Here in the U.K. I used to have a great time climbing over cars in what we call breaker's yards but they have all been sanitised now due to Health and Safety regulations and you cannot generally get in to salvage parts yourself. I look forward to seeing more progress on the truck. Regards from someone whose opinions don't matter.

Hi Kyle. That was a bit of an excursion from the normal fare, but still well worth watching, my friend. Being that I live in a two-bit tin-pot nanny-state dictatorship at the bottom of the world and we've had a left-wing / eco-manic government for the best part of 20 years, vehicle scrapping yards with anything older than 20-30 years in them are extremely rare (as it is, I know of two and the closest is 300 miles from me). It's a rare treat to see 40s, 50s and 60s cars and trucks that are not rusted down to the point of no return.
My favourites would be the 50s and 60s Buicks, but there were a couple of Mercurys in there that I've NEVER seen outside books before that I went WOW over, but would never own because they just aren't my thing. I loved wandering through wreckers yards myself, just looking at the condition of the vehicles and wondering what took them off the road or how they got the damage they have. Nowadays there's nothing much to look at and restoring what I would see / find there would be pointless due to their worth when done.
Loved the shout-out to Dean too, mate. Funny - I could see him doing his Greasy Flip thing on several of the vehicles in that lot! One of the Edsels definitely looked to be restorable - maybe with the other for parts, so maybe he'll make an appearance, eh? Anyway, was good to see you out and about again and don't worry about the lapse of time between videos. It's just good to see you working on them when you're able to provide it. You do your thing as you gotta look after YOU first. Nobody else will, eh. Took me many years to realise that.
    All the best

Captivativing video. As a UK resident it's astonishing to me that there's a breakers' yards with vehicles from the 1940s and 50s lying around - unimaginable here. In the UK, breakers would stack vehicles four or five high - I can remember climbing up to the top of a stack to find parts in the 1980s. Not allowed today of course, scrap yards are more formally known as vehicle dismantlers and generally will not allow you to wander around the yard and certainly not remove parts yourself. Space being at a premium, cars only remain in the yard for a relatively short period before being crushed. It would be unusual to see a vehicle from the 1980s in a breakers' yard let alone anything from before.

I appreciate the walk thru of the salvage yard. Sadly most of those places around here have already crushed their older cars and trucks. I liked the 67 Mercury 4-door car, I think it was a breeze way car (the rear window rolls down). But I don't have any space for a big car like that. I thought that you had maybe been auditioning for different bands with your triangle. If you end up going on tour, I'll understand your absence. Oh, and happy Canada Day.

Nice to see the Canadian Monarchs, although nobody seems to want many parts from them. Probably the only remaining ones are in those wrecking yards... Lots of neat old trucks. Funny how some of those cars seem surprisingly solid, while others are dissolving away...

Ford two door that looked promising.. There seems to be a high percentage of four door cars in your area. I think there were more late 1950s Mercuries than I've ever seen in one location before. Salvage/breakers yards have pretty much disappeared where I live: at least the ones where you can wander around with some tools and remove parts yourself. Thinking back to taking doors off cars stacked three high and rocking backwards and forwards as you climbed on them, I can kind of understand it. Doesn't stop me feeling nostalgia for the days when it was the only way to keep your vehicle on the road, though.
