Is there anyway to train for pull ups, without actually doing pull ups? Sounds dumb but as a rather tall lad i cant use a pull up bar on my door frames, neither do i have time to go to the gym
+The Coalition lat pull downs single arm rows, but with the lat pull downs concentrate on the eccentric movement really slow to build the muscle fibres
Did my PRMC in 1987 ,can still remember other potential recruits throwing up on the gym exercise . run back from woodbury after endurance course ,bottom field thrashing . But no Helmets ! what is that all about ? .
Health and safety gone mad. I think it's liability issues since they aren't technically on basic training yet. Once you come back for your 32 weeks, no helmets then
Passed PRMC in 2013, left training after been BTed week 16. Biggest regret of my life leaving, hence why I have my medical this month and hopefully a PRMC in November. I hear its changed a tad now mind.
Hi mate, i left training in 1985 (199 Troop) 35 yrs later not a single day has gone by i don’t regret it. Any lads out there looking to join up. No matter what, NEVER NEVER GIVE UP’ When going through hell, keep going Ok I robbed the quotes off Churchill 👍👍
snowy mountain If you have any problems with your sight whatsoever you're unlikely to be held back. They're extremely strict on medical fitness, if anything isn't right you won't stand a chance
The details are on the website somewhere, but.... 20/20 is an American term anyway, that most people misunderstand completely. It does not mean 'perfect' vision or anything like that - basically its a general indication of normal vision. 6/6 is the metric equivalent and what UK opticians/optometrists will be using. 6/12 means worse than normal, 6/4 would be better than normal etc. Army needs 6/12 or better in right eye, 6/36 or better in left eye AFTER correction (glasses/contacts), which is still pretty bad vision.....marines may be a little stricter but there are marines with glasses/contacts. Unless your vision is terrible or you have a squint or something like that, you should be fine. Hope that's vaguely helpful.
@@ecddanieldce6753 not true... I had a revascularised left index finger, It got cought in a mashine at work.. had MRI scan done on me knee as I had a minor "stress fracture" and stress fracture in my second metacarpal bone and passed the medical :)
RileyG 96 x actually you are not allowed tattoos bellow the cuff on the arms and above the collar on your neck for tattoos in the RAF, Royal Navy and Army
Toby kruger Got a question mate, Will the classroom work hold me back? I was a little shit in school so didn't get my GCSE's and I'm worried this will hold me back, the PT etc I have no problem with it's just classroom, everyone fresh out of collage etc then there's me struggling ..
Nice mate congrats, how long after having a interview did it take until you had your PJFT and PRMC? Also. im just training by doing push ups, sit ups and lots of hill running. Any tips? Ive been told that there is no reason to hit the gym as its all endurance. Someone told me doing push ups, sit ups and hill running for a couple of months is enough. Is this true or should i focus on other things?
The Coalition tbh, I didn't train 2 weeks before prmc, got an average score at gym tests and stayed determined during the bottom field and endurance course
Ah ok i see. Ive just been reading all over the application pages and royal navy forums. They all say they require top peak physical fitness. But i guess they just put that there to get people to train before hand so they dont get a lot of chubby people applying. I can already do the PJFT and pretty sure i can scrape bottom marks at the PRMC at my current state. But i dont want to go simply for bottom marks, want to try my hardest and get hit my maximum potential. Applied yesterday, so i assume, providing i pass all tests, i wont go to the PRMC for another 4-7 months. Sorry if im being a pain, just want to make it clear. Can i pass the PRMC if i just train push ups, sit ups and running?
Just applied yesterday. Cant bloody wait. anyone know roughly how long it takes after interview until ill go for the PRMC, providing i pass all the tests?
+The Coalition aye matey, At least from what some of the other lads have Said it didn't take them long after their medical just have fun at PRMC I've had mine done and dusted now thanks god ;)
+The Coalition ask away matey I'm up for helping out anyway I can, and mate it's just you go to a boots opticians and they do a normal eye test the medical they just talk through your medical file and check your joints that's about it
Ashley the Vlogger Do the Royal Marine cadets always think they're solid? I am in the Army cadets and they always act solid when they walk past us but they just look like mongs 😂😂
Ashley the Vlogger All he did was make a comment about what he is. He didn't say he was solid just made a comment. Maybe he its going to help him become a real royal marine one day. Which it possibly will. Maybe thats why he made the comment
Only thing holding me back from going for this now is the pull ups, working for it each day
Tom Eason good luck bro

That triangle of death on the endurance course is hell... be warned! ha
Do you need 20/20 vision for the marines because it is very unclear elsewhere?
Thanks.

How come the PTI had tattoos on his hands?
Tristram Randall you can join with tattoos on your hands and neck, it's the navy that doesn't allow
aaah, okay. Thank you, all makes sense to me now.

Wow. never knew it was that quick. I would of thought the PRMC would be atleast 4 or 5 months. Better get my swimming performance up :D. thanks.
