Really enjoyed this - Thank you. I am former Para Reg (1PARA), so was interwoven with the Corps throughout the entire time I spent in Battalion. Some of the blokes had done the PT2's and were mega lads. Hats off to the Corps - Per Mare Per Terram & Utrinque Paratus!
Well done lance corporal McLaren, took me through my retry’s and pass of the PJFA, gave me great advice and helped me massively with my career in the Royal Marines
Great Video, as a past PTI it was a good insight into the current course, I was unaware the course involved completing the Commando tests again ! Great idea , the course I completed had lots of hours put into subjects which were not relevant once the course was over ! Well done guys 💪
When I did my Juniors in the mid 90s we did the 9 miler as the lead in fitness test then over the duration of the course we did the Endurance and 30 miler too. No idea why they stopped it as we all thought it was a cracking idea and wanted to do the Tarzan again to complete the set.
I have some good mates from the Branch or Corps, an RM PTI and I went through our AT courses and MIC together. I have fond memories of the time we pushed our winter grades and over a 4 day period we climbed Zero Gully, Point 5 and Orion Face Direct! Great days and proud to say that I celebrated my 50th year in Mountaineering by completing my regret route, The Devils Slide on Lundy with 3 other Marine/PTIs... Great guys, awesome force... U P
Very good presentation, And something I would like to see a longer more in depth look at this part of the corps. More please , thank you and Merry Christmas
I had the pleasure of then PT2 Cpl Phil Gilby as our PRC PTI back in 1996. We also had PT2 Cpl Scotty Mills (now Major) fill in as our training PTI a few times over the early stages of training. If I remember correctly, don't the PTI's have a Lambs wool tank top / vest too? I'm sure I can remember some of the PTI's making sure their 'guns' were still on show even in the depths of winter!
@@jameshardy6277 😂 I don't remember a lambs wool tank top ! That would have been a bit special, but we did have a cream ( which of course we had to make white ) v necked jumper. Think these have been fazed out now , and the white Ice cream seller jackets are in vogue!
When I was at Winchester, the PTI cadre ran a lottery club. After several years of this - one fella decided it was a waste of money so jacked in on his weekly payments. Two weeks later they won and got 20k each! We had that PTI for a gym session the afternoon after the draw - we got a proper beasting!!!!
I would imagine a level of Fitness and Mental Robustness akin to that of UK Special Forces Operators is required as an RM PTI. Anyway Cracking Job for your Service Lads!
RM PTI’s currently hold Team Leader roles embedded within the Commando Force, where there primary role is that of a Commando with their specialist training simply adding depth to their delivery and as such would deploy as required in that units needs. PTIs are a prime example of the ‘Commando first’ concept throughout the Corps, always remembering their primary role of ground fighting soldier.

Love the gentleman's answer that his fulfilment is seeing others slowly getting to the required standards under his tutelage.

Scotty Mills~A Gentleman &a Legend.
Bravo Zulu, Royal.
Getting the PTI’s hand gesture right was a prerequisite for passing out, I believe 😂 (digits straight, thumb tucked)
What about the classroom phase learning about the body etc. Its not all about beasting people!!
Respect and admiration effing awsome.
I remember getting many beastings from these guys as a matelot on the commando course.
This is mega. Good effort YOUUUUUUUU!
Ahahaha cheers mate!
Wow ! What a level of fitness 👌

Are PTIs ever deployed and if so, what role do they fill?

When not in a pure PTI role , PTI's are soldiers first 👍
@@neilmaston5116 don't you mean Commandos😅😅
@jackstewart-richardson just out of interest Jack do they not also make up the COs bodyguard team?
@@carldowd406 no mate , meant soldiers , maybe it's changed but we always referred to each other as soldiers 🤷♂️
GET UP THERE YOU LOFTY
Become a PTI and never soldier again. Run around CTC in leggings and tell recruits how amazing you are and melt when it's ACMT time.
Living the dream
Absolutely. Here here
😂😂
Haha true
Pti smashed his missus 😂😂😂 but i do agree
One lad said "PHYSICAL" yes it's in the title of the course 😂
Mens sana in carpore Sano
Whats the MT office all doing in white vests?? 😂😂😂
hardest specialism course in rm? harder than MLs?
I always have a huge respect for the PTIs.
They really change a Life of a many.

Is it harder than the MLs course?
Lol 😂 certainly not !
The sunbed and baby oil sessions are renowned for being outrageously hard but not at ML level.
@@JammyDodger45 😂😂👍👏
@@neilmaston5116 although I’ve done it and was back in the 90,s it was hard but it’s a mind set !

I could probably do the course, but I could not endure being shouted at. And the instructors never say please 😟
😊
Very interesting and well produced 👋
