Imagine if not only did we use the bamboo for food and materials, but we also used all of the waste material for making like, paper or something (maybe write books about bamboo on the bamboo paper lol)

Mr. Luck, you’ve helped me so much in this video. I have a fair sized grove, and am writing at shoot removal time. I wasn’t sure if and how they could be eaten, and you explained everything I needed in this one short video. Thank you so much!

Depends on the species. There are much larger species (up to about 7" in diameter) that grow in the southeastern US, also from Asia, as are the smaller species in this video.

Very interesting. Thank you. For the dried shoots and once rehydrated, do they need to be boiled like the fresh ones? Also could they be eaten like crisps?

    • @darrellluck7230

The shoots are boiled before they are dried. They might be OK to eat dried if they have some seasoning on them before drying. I just tried one as is - a bit bland tasting.

If you do the running type planting it surrounded by concrete works, they sell plastic barriers but it seems they escape over time. Try a clumping variety of bamboo if you don't want to deal with managing it. Watch this video to learn all about growing bamboo th-cam.com/video/C5Ke83_QKtk/w-d-xo.html

I have yellow groove the roots typically are 6 inches deep. I dig a shall trench with a single hand shovel and when I find one I cut and rip it out. Not hard if you are in OK shape. Only needs to be done once a year. Plus if you miss any shoots will point them out.

How long do you soak it? Do you soak it at room temperature or in the fridge or...? How much salt for how much water? Do you save every bit of what he discards, all the way down to the base part with the purplish dots? And then do you just proceed to boil it the same as what the man in this video says he does with the part he saves?

if you have a lot of bamboo you can soak it in salt water. if you have just for a day , the best way is boiled it until it not bitter any more, then you can cook what so ever you what to. I will boiled at less 3-4 time and depended on what kind of bamboo.@@patrickcleburneuczjsxpmp9558
