I had super ultra wide I sent it back after a week, it felt too wide and lacking in vertical hight also some games look wired on the sides. Love my Alienware qd oled, just wish they made 38” whilst keeping the same PPI
On the other hand I moved from a g9 to the aw3423dwf and not going to lie there's not really any wow factor while using it in comparison since the neo qled are very good, so they both feel the same. But viewing angles are crazy on the Alienware. Going to try driving the Alienware for longer but both monitors are great. G9 OLED is both in one, just wished it was taller

Finally, a bigger ultrawide. The 49 inch one is fine, but the height can be a bit short in some cases (it only equals to a 27 inch one after all). This solves that, hope it becomes mainstream.
That dual 4k is going to be a nightmare to drive though, even 5120x1440 is just under a single 4k screen, so with high end gpus its not bad, but gaming on a dual 4k you're going to be running garbage settings or under 60fps
@@KPalmTheWise Yes, it will be hard to drive. I csn drive my dual 1440p one even with a 2060 (not in ultra of course), for the dual 4k I'd need something much stronger. i really hope those 4k screens can have split vrr cause ive been looking for something that does side by side monitors with independent vrr on both so gsync can be used on one for gaming
That would be awesome. I would also settle for just a "use VRR on this input" type system and let the other side of the screen be static. I'd also like for HDR to work in Picture by Picture mode as it should be possible with mini-LED, even if it means both inputs have to be run in HDR mode as a compromise. Unfortunately I don't think either of these will happen.
I have an og G9 and use it as 2x27" monitors, one thing you need to mention that you only get adaptive sync without using PIP/PBP, also you are limited to 120Hz. I need to turn off PIP/PBP in order to use everything the monitor offers (240Hz, adaptive sync and HDR)
The end game is when we can look at a screen and genuinely have to think is it a screen or am I looking at a reflection/window And it's actually scary how quick we're getting there considering I am a 2000 child and have seen tech go from crt to this in my very short life
I mean honestly we already are there if we wanted too. We can pack the pixels in tight enough, we've proven that on phone Oled panels, it'd just a matter of having them convincingly bright, though there are subtle effects from a window that they'll never imitate properly like sun rays cast into the room at the angle of the sun etc. Also yeah, as someone born in 1998, I agree display tech has advanced leaps and bounds over the last 15 years especially.
Thank you for this! I've been waiting ages for an Oled SuperUltraWide and currently have the similar 49" monitor (s49a95u) from Samsung in terms of PPI and resolution but with a traditional VA panel. It is awesome for productivity and the 120hz is so-so for casual gaming. I appriciate that they DID NOT make the oled a 1000R curve and kept it a 1800R! Strong curve might be great for gaming but simply just takes up too much space (even mounted on a wall) and requires a certain position in front of it to be optimal. Now, Nicholas didn't meation it, but I am pretty sure it also features an integrated Thunderbolt dock, which is basically a requirement for the segment of endusers I think they are aiming for; adults that uses it for productivity via employers laptop, enjoys the occasional gaming from a powerfull desktop and the ability to watch endless Disney Frozen video on TH-cam with the kids, but at the same time do it with the best possible quality. And the Neo with the 1000R curve is aimed towards gamers at a higher level. Good job Samsung - take my money!
For me its the opposite, I have a corner desk so I need the 1000R or it just won't fit. Big downside for productivity on the QD-OLED though is the issues with clear type. I don't know if I could handle that

6:35 The new Neo 🙄 is 2x4K240, meaning it should require around 160 Gbps bandwith to get its signal. That’s something not even DP 2.1 can handle. DSC compresses it down to around 43 Gbps which fits into HDMI 2.1 or DP 2.0. Does that mean I can get the full resolution and frame-rate with an Nvidia card?
@@F-aber for me the 1800R curve kills the OLED for me. I have the original G9 and love it, my friend loved it too so he got a different 32:9 49" monitor with a way less aggressive curve, and I hate his monitor.
I love the monitor, but for whatever reason they were very prone to defects. Return multiple because of very large numbers of dead pixels before getting a good one, and found out that this was a similar experience for other people trying to buy one. If the one you found wasn't defective, people loved it and it is an awesome monitor, but it sort of was a roulette of getting a good product.
@@gqqggq7127 second this. it's a complex piece of hardware, probably one of the beefiest monitors out there, so the possibility of a defect is high, especially with this pixel count
Have had the previous version of G9 for quite a while now. One of the best purchases I've ever made! Your work and gaming will never be the same after you've used this. This is NOT a gimmick monitor! It actually makes a huge difference! Be ready for how much more it will load your system though, it has a lot of pixels and is not easy to drive. Big recommend for people who use a ton of screen space and like immersive gaming. You will not regret this.
My g9 has multiple dark smudge spots in the panel that happened past warranty. I'm guessing the upcoming oled model will resolve most issues, I'm never buying a led based display ever again.
BUT WHY IS IT 1800R AND NOT 1000R?! (talking about the OLED, not the new NEO) I love my G9, and I thought I could use my G9 as secondary and have them both with the same radius. Now it would look weird having two massive screens with different curves.
Brightness isn't always something I look for in displays. Mainly because even just an hour with high brightness gives me a migraine. But this might just replace both of my G9s!
The high brightness isnt so much for normal use, its more for HDR content. Highlights that are really bright while keeping the rest of the screen dimmer is what makes some scenes look more real, more beautiful. I could never use my g9 at max brightness all the time, I have it set permanently to 45% brightness which only gets higher in HDR mode, but as I said only in the highlights.
Like many others, I brought the Odyssey Neo G9, albeit at a cheaper price and good deal in the latter of 2022, nearly half price sale so grabbed a bargain, so however much I want to have the new monitor coming out, I am happy to wait until the middle of 2023 or later for the new monitor so that I'm not literally paying for two monitors in a year, we're not all made of money 🤪
I've been looking for a pair of 32" 4k displays with high refresh rates and good HDR. Amazingly, it looks like the new 57" Neo will beat any other options to the market and deal with the center bezel to boot.
1:35 how do you beat that monitor? They’re all basically wider screen 1440p monitors. How people still accept sub 4k, a decade after 4k came out, seems crazy to me.
You are right. Most games and movies don't really support it. But that's no problem if you have a OLED screen you can just set your game to 21:9 or 16:9 and just leave the black bars at the side because of the OLED Pixels
I have an LG OLED C2. I can absolutely say that OLED is by far the best picture even if it doesn't get as bright (For me it's plenty bright). I can't go back. It's just rough when the price of OLED is still way up there especially for monitors. The price tags push people away.
i have a c1 and man do i wish it was brighter especially for watching tv during the daytime. With anti burn in measures that dim the screen for white backgrounds and stuff its not fantastic as a monitor. I'd almost prefer mini-led if they can fit more zones in
@@brigham1465 Even during the daylight mine is plenty bright enough. Did you turn off the energy saving mode? It's sort of hidden in the settings menu. They all have it automatically turned on. Turn that off and it's WAY brighter. I don't even turn mine on max brightness. You can turn off that auto dimming feature as well. If you really want to go crazy and don't have a warranty to worry about, Amazon sells the ''service'' remote that allows access to even more technical features. It just voids your warranty if you change the settings you don't normally have access to.
No recent AMD GPUs can handle dual 4K at ultra settings, so DP 2.1 is pointless right now unless you play at crappy settings. But I am pretty sure in the future the RTX 5090 will handle this NEO G9 at Ultra Settings, full Raytracing, and native resolution.
I've been using the Samsung 43" for the past 4 years ... I originally wanted the Ark but too many issues for the cost but I absolutely want that G9 Neo 57" be damn the cost!
TBH, I think 1440p is the sweet spot right now. 4k is nice, if you can drive at the frame rates you want, and that doesn't come cheap. I have the original g9 (and a g7) which I'm happy with, I'm not so sure if I necessarily want to go oled yet because my setup will be susceptible for burn-in but looks and sounds great!
@@pascalb2279 But at what cost? Sure, increasing the power limit to let the video cards go crazy just to achieve those frame rates are not worth it. And of course it's not perfect so stability becomes an issue. I'll be sticking with my 3090 well into the decade at least until they get things back to more reasonable levels.
I've got a G9 neo and I'm going to get one of these two monitors. I love my G9, it has been the single biggest upgrade to my gaming experience in years. While expensive I cannot recommend these monitors enough.
If you like the curve the OLED isn't really a replacement. I love the 1000R and now I don't know if I want the OLED one, since stacking them would look ugly.
I've got my first g9 oddysey last year for 1200$ cad, with my 3080ti, completely smooth with widescreen support with some games.. the best purchase of my life

I recently read an interesting article about the big dual 4K monitor...there isn't a card in existence that is powerful enough to actually drive the monitor at full resolution AND has the new DP standard too. The top nVidia cards could theoretically run it but they don't have the right output and the AMD cards have the right output, they aren't powerful enough to do it. Kind of a deal breaker...
I'd actually be put off by the 1800R curve on the G9 OLED. I have the Neo G9 already, and the 1000R curve is great at the distance you're usually gaming
I have a Neo G9 and love it. I bought it in Aug '21 as a birthday present for myself. One of the best upgrades I've made. My old Asus Predator G27 4K now sits at the end of the Neo G9's curve ;-) I'd love to upgrade to the new Neo G9 57", but don't think I can justify it so soon... I'll be happy enough on the 49" Neo G9 for a while yet. Playing games that properly support 32:9 like Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Sim, Sea of Thieves, and many more, is just amazing!! So immersive.
I’m currently running a 34 inch ultrawide I wanna upgrade from and a 27 inch vertical setup next to it, your desk must be huge to fit a G9 and a 27 inch on it, I doubt I could do that and keep my pc on my desk sadly.
So annoyed at Samsung for not putting a 1000R curve on the new G9. Ever since QD OLED started being used in monitors I knew exactly what I wanted. Why? Why Samsung, would you make a 49” Super Ultrawide monitor and not keep the extreme curve on the flexible OLED panel? We know your gonna charge a premium for the G9 and personally I would have gladly paid for perfection…. But you had to miss the one check box that attracted most people to the Odyssey line in the first place. The waiting game continues
Is the 57" the same aspect ratio as the oled, so wider, or is it the same width and taller? I run a 38" UW and always found the 49" ones too short for my work.
Where's the 51.7 inch 5K-2K Ultrawide cut of that QD-OLED panel though? Would be so good. You can see on the 45 inch LG ultrawide that the height really adds more to the immersion than the length addition superwide gives over ultrawide. 2K vertical pixels is also much more practical in regards to esports (can do 1080p in the middle with side blackbars due to 2x height pixel ratio). That would be a real no-compromises screen. Some might say super ultrawide is better for being able to slice more of wider multiple windows is better productivity wise, but if it's that large and would be 1.5x taller as 2K height, you could get really creative about how you slice up the screens with horizontal segmentation too, and it would in reality contain the 49 inch OLED so you can blackbar horizontally and it would be the same so that wouldn't even make sense. It's high time 5K 2K became a thing. If the 45 inch LG OLED cut was 5K 2K instead of 3440x1440 it would be an instabuy for anyone with comfortable money for a superpremium eye candy monitor and a want to spend for it.
at 9:09 he says something about the bar in the middle if you use 2 screens, i use 3 TV's, a 72, and two 42"s in portrait mode getting the same format. i usually run it in 1440p but it can run 4k, they're all 4Kp and 60 is all i need so... star citizen looks beautiful on them. i got motion sickness the one time even, sat too close.
I saw all the videos about new monitors now. And as cool they all are, there is nothing that I want: just a curved 32,5" or 32" 16:9 or 16:10 1440p OLED or QOLED with nice HDR and 144Hz for less than 1000$. Maybe with Ambilight. Is that not fency enough to produce? is there no market for such a display? Is 32:9 2x4k mainstream now? Displays for over 1000$?
Id like to see a test that shows a game run in a window at a lower resolution while having maybe a stream up in another window and discord up. Something that would test this replacing a multimonitor set up
I bought the original g9 on black friday. Realized my 1070 probably wouldn't run it that well. Got a 3070 with a 7950x. I get like 60fps. At medium graphics I can maybe get 120. It's nice though. For general use it's real nice.
Just bought SAMSUNG 49" Odyssey Neo G9 G95NA. Its crazy how hard it is to find one. When I did find one it was more than 1799. Its crazy how difficult it is and Samsung just says where to buy then I got nothing in my area. I finally found one at Amazon. They sell out everywhere faster than they can make them.
The OLED G9 is amazing, but only until it gets burned in. So run it like it's 2 monitors and always do everything in full-screen. use Firefox instead of Chrome, so you can use the tabs without having to exit full-screen. Then use it as a single monitor to play games really wide. Black bars are still going to be burned in though! For example, the title bar on my S9+ was burned in after like 2 years and not even all apps make that title bar black. The rest of the screen is a little darker than the title bar since the title bar was black a lot. Same thing if you watch 16:9, 21:9 or 4:3 content on this monitor without multitasking, which would make it annoying to watch things. One thing you could do is display gray bars instead of black bars, so you'll show the average brightness as is being displayed in the middle of the screen. That's annoying though since why display gray that's worse than the worst LCD screen ever when you can display black besides preventing burn-in?
The G9 8K is now the ultimate racing sim display. True, a lot of sim rigs had triple 4K and not just double 4K, but the convenience of the single display and running at 240hz makes this highly appealing.
You know what is truly stunning? Plouffe. He needs to always do display reviews and unboxing. His knowledge and candor are really appreciated. Also, where Dan at?
That size up close is going to tire eyes very fast. I tried the Samsung QN95 for a while at a distance roughly the same and set it to ultrawide mode and my eyes were taking a pounding!

I got my aw3423dw this week and am blown away by it, the g9 oled looks insane though! A bit too big for my desk.

I’m still holding out for the 1000r OLED G9. Really disappointed it’s only launching with the 1800r.
i really hope those 4k screens can have split vrr cause ive been looking for something that does side by side monitors with independent vrr on both so gsync can be used on one for gaming
I’ve never heard of this technology and would like more information if you can please share.
You would need a split panel, when 4k was new that's what alot of the tn panels did and it was awful.
You should do high speed camera tests with these new OLED displays.
"If it's got OLED in the name, it's probably OLED" Plouffe really has some impressive powers of deduction!
The end game is when we can look at a screen and genuinely have to think is it a screen or am I looking at a reflection/window
And it's actually scary how quick we're getting there considering I am a 2000 child and have seen tech go from crt to this in my very short life
I mean honestly we already are there if we wanted too.
Your eyes can judge distance so that'll never happen.
Having 4k oled laptop screen I can say that without proper 3d spatial screens that point will never be anywhere near

You might get a headache
Both g9's? Flex much?

If the 45 inch LG OLED cut was 5K 2K instead of 3440x1440 it would be an instabuy for anyone with comfortable money for a superpremium eye candy monitor and a want to spend for it.
i was wondering if Plouffe even owned an OLED, glad he cleared that up at the end.
at 9:09 he says something about the bar in the middle if you use 2 screens, i use 3 TV's, a 72, and two 42"s in portrait mode getting the same format. i usually run it in 1440p but it can run 4k, they're all 4Kp and 60 is all i need so... star citizen looks beautiful on them. i got motion sickness the one time even, sat too close.
I like James' Extra Audition there 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The OLED G9 is amazing, but only until it gets burned in. That's annoying though since why display gray that's worse than the worst LCD screen ever when you can display black besides preventing burn-in?
quality review, really good intro/explanation
The G9 8K is now the ultimate racing sim display.
True, a lot of sim rigs had triple 4K and not just double 4K, but the convenience of the single display and running at 240hz makes this highly appealing.
You know what is truly stunning? Plouffe. He needs to always do display reviews and unboxing. His knowledge and candor are really appreciated. Also, where Dan at?
His genuine enthusiasm is also refreshing, compared to the teen angst generally being demonstrated
That size up close is going to tire eyes very fast. I tried the Samsung QN95 for a while at a distance roughly the same and set it to ultrawide mode and my eyes were taking a pounding!
Are you planning to do a video on the G70 43"? It's a bit of a lesser display in comparison to these G9 models, but would be interesting to hear more details about that one. I can see it pop up briefly in that minimap thing.
I've got a G9 on my sim rig and love it, only desire is more vertical height that you can get with triples
Finally, finally!!!!! Non-OLED ultra-wide screen and the PPI is 143, which is perfect for coding ❤️
Dude I recently bought the neo g9 for Christmas... Now they come out with a 57 inch with better features? Damn I guess there will always be a new one every year... Fingers crossed for 16k displays :D
