This is part 2 of my Mopar CAI install. Cutting of the factory hood for the fresh air vent. Part 1, installing cold air box and tubing: • Mopar Cold Air Intake ...
Hi my new friend😊👋 wow what a coincidence I got of the phone with my boy who was at home outside messing with his car lol he said painting the hood of his car and doing so project to his car lol he loves cars ever since he was 2 years old lol see you reminded me lol great job my friend😁👏🙌👍
Wow! That was an awesome job. I am not mechanically inclined so this was awesome. I probably get it built in now since they offer. I could not do this.
I was very impressed by your video, great job with your install. I am in total agreement with you as far as having a factory installed part. My wife and I just purchased a 2023 wrangler Willys two-door with the 3.6 and I am considering having this installed by a dealer, however, the next time we order a jeep, I am going to make sure I check the box for the option.
Thank you for the video and yeah, bummer that when you order from the factory they do not cut the hood. They also did not give me the box with the remaining parts, ike the template, the bezel and grill. Pretty much everything you just did, those parts were not in my Jeep when I bought. Took me a month to finally work with Jeep to get them to me so I can finish the job but it seems to be a big problem for them. Anyone that orders the CAI from the factory, make sure theittle square box with remaining items to cut the grill are somewhere in your Jeep when you pick it up. Did you notice any performance difference once it was cut?
Ok after watching your video - I went out, purchased and installed the CAI, however I did not cut my hood yet. Since your install do you think the Jeep performs better applying the open air vent? Ready to cut just waiting for your input. Thanks!
BTW-I don't see the Hood vent anywhere in the 2021 performance aftermarket parts listings! Is this still available as I'd like to have my dealer install this upon rcpt of new vehicle.
I wonder if it's water proof. If it rains and water gets in the intake that would be bad news for the engine. Let me know how the product prevents from water getting in. That is my main concern. The overall look is nice.
The only time i put the block off cover on is when I pressure wash or in a severe downpour. I have driven in pretty heavy rain and checked the airbox when I got home. Its always been dry.
Did cutting the hood have any effect on engine or oil temperatures? Any difference in how hot it runs compared to the OEM vs Mopar Aftermarket without the hood cut out and after the hood cut out? Thanks
My jeep came with the CAI as an option but the grill for the hood was not installed. So even if you pay $400 you still need to cut it. I will not since it will cut the Rubicon logo.
I’ve have worked mostly with turbocharged engines (Subaru & Mitsubishi), now I own a JLU as a family oriented car. The major mistake I’ve seen in the past 10 years, is cars running lean due to incorrect airflow (cold air intake and no tune). This leads to less reliability and knock issues down the road. It’s true that the ecu will try to compensate, but I’d imagine a tune might be in order as well. Does mopar offer a different calibration with a factory installed Cold air intake? Better safe than sorry. Keep me posted.
Same question - having come off of a 2002 WRX and 2014 STi... always had an AP map that accounted for CAI. Also, I’m a bit skittish about cutting a hole in the hood of a brand new vehicle!!
hey there! Hoping to get back to posting soon.....sadly the kids are at an age where they no longer want me to post videos because friends know about it....lol....trying to come up with new content...lol

Excellent un boxing of the airbox and tubing! Liked/

This part alone probably does more for the “Cold Air Intake” than anything else!
Can you please complete a full product review? Do you feel a difference from the stock? Is there more power? Efficiency? Any regrets, or reservations?
Nice job.
Thanks!
You made a great job, awesome 👌
Thanks for sharing the detailed tutorial.
What are your thoughts on performance and sound. Thanks for the detailed video look forward to your next modification.
Welcome back!
Good job...you put an interesting video....liked
Thanks for the visit
That looks fantastic
Great video. Did you ever post anything about sound or performance. Thinking about getting the cold air when i order my JL. Please let us know.

Great video!
Big big like :D
So how does it perform with the hole cut out? Nice content!
can you reuse the stock paper filter with this intake system ?
Good video👍
Thanks for the visit
Can you please share link to this product thank you for the upload
would the Mopar snorkel line up with that hole?

Grrrreat Video!!! Can you tell me what size rivets you use and what is the best cutting wheel for the Dremmel. Thanks in advance.
Might as well just buy a vented aftermaket hood. Nice video btw 🙏🏼
Good video, what does it sound like when driving?
Sounds the same as it did before :)
Wow.. genius solution ❤❤❤❤❤ well done 😀😀😀😀😀 full watch 👍👍👍👍👍

Congratulations for the video and thanks for sharing. I liked it
a lot.
A big hug and many greetings.

Thank you very much!
Do you have a purchase link for the vent?

How are you doing?
Lucky Number 7. Good sharing my friend.👍👍
Great! 👍
I am very interested in this hood vent to get more air to the engine though the air box. Can you tell me the measurements of this hood vent?
Are you busy, I have one of these kits but just cannot cut into my new JL?
IS THERE ONE FOR THE JK
Doe you know if it need to close when it’s raining?
Awesome video thank you.
So 1 year later, any issues with water ?
No...I have left the vent cover off in moderate rain and the filter was dry.
Nope :)
Do you have to cover it when it rains?

Will a dealership install this?
Will the hood vent fit a JK hood?
61, good and interesting one , but why no videos these days😀😀
I am making new ones today. We had to change what videos we were making because the kids don't want to be on TH-cam anymore....lol
This came on my jeep as the factory option but it doesn't come with the hood vent. Just a way for Jeep to tack on $500 to the price to be honest.
How much does this part run?($wise)
Very cool!
Nice
Thanks
😳Wow. That's scary to do that. I'd be afraid to mess that up. That's a nice vehicle anyways. Is that the hemi one? The fast one?
nice share 👍🤗👍🤗👍🤗
Hood is aluminum. No need to paint after.
Y'all haven't posted in a couple of months. I pray everything is okay with the family, etc. Be safe, don't let the Wuhan monster bite ya.
